Good news going through thanks to the Reading win. Wonder when the draw takes place

That *was* the January Window

I think Chaddy got the number of signings he was expecting but hoping his realism over the last couple of days continues and he can see the window for the failure it was. I was slightly happier about Fleck until I heard that he’s been out injured most of the season and has managed 89 minutes in total so far since August 😞 -

Technically Fleck isn’t a loan. -

Played a good number of games in the championship last season. Will be a useful player for us over the coming months. We’re still weaker but I’d say it’s an ok end to the window. Think the Liverpool lad will be a squad filler after reading a few comments so he’s the one I’m probably least convinced by. -

John Fleck. Decent signing who will be coming to start -

Let’s hope it’s a good one. One good loan signing could be the difference. A top quality loan (Doak or someone of that calibre) could end on a positive. -

My only hope with McGuire is that he wants to learn. JDT wasn’t a bad striker and could improve him as long as his attitude is right and he’s keen to learn. It will be a step up for him but at least it’s not stepping up from youth football. -

Ennis would have had a signing on bonus so I doubt we’ve even broke even on that deal. -

We are considerably weaker coming out of the window than when we went into it. There’s no doubt in my mind that we haven’t strengthened. -

If the Liverpool lad is that bad it’ll be spotted pretty quickly in training and I would imagine he’ll be nowhere near our starting line up. -

Exactly what I said earlier Jim. He’d have better contacts and be able to judge a player better than the evidence points towards GB being able to. -

Not sure if you’ve still blocked me for questioning some of your previous statements. But if you haven’t, serious question, do you feel this is the case? Do you feel that the recruitment in this window and the last ones has fitted the way we play football. Im struggling to work out where a 37 year old CB fits with ‘the model’ or where Ennis fitted with that same model. -

I know we’ve gone down this wonderful and fashionable head coach and DOF model. But you can’t tell me that JDT couldn’t have picked up some better players than the ones being pushed on him. Plodders and kids. GB hasn’t given us a single decent signing. I give him no credit for Sammy as that was the previous scouting. Only here is he somehow still in a job. Yet again we come out of a January window weaker than we went in to it while all around us have strengthened. -

Kiefer Moore to Ipswich on loan looks better business for them than Gallagher. -

But we had no need to pull the deal. He was mid flight. We had until this morning to sort the mess out. It just makes us look inept. Will he really want to sign for us now? -

I wonder if the owners really don’t get the reputational damage they are doing. We won’t even get conversations with players and agents if this carries on. They could maybe get away with the O’Brien stuff and blame it on the big bad FA. They can’t with this. They got the player on a flight and changed their mind mid way through his journey. Other players, clubs and agents will refuse to deal with us. We won’t even be able to sign players as we won’t even get the conversations with clubs as we’ll be seen as time wasters and Charlatans. It’s worrying. I wonder if they culture from the owners is one of a lack of respect to the minions (players/agents) that they are dealing with. -

When Chaddy criticises the club you know they have got something badly wrong. We have to hope that it is all down to a miscommunication as clearly any incoming would depend on Wharton going. If that deal hasn’t happened then we have to hope that Maguire’s representatives have been informed of that and they’ve potentially used it to secure a back up plan should the Wharton money not be forthcoming, I do wonder if there is anything in the moving of the court case to March. Would it be harder to argue that we need £11m to keep the lights on if we’d just spent £3m or so on a new signing. Could there be concerns that they will not be able to argue their case on that basis. If it is the worse case scenario then you have to expect GB and JDT to walk. Neither can do their job on this basis. -

So you think that we get paid in instalments but have to pay for the players we are signing up front?? Can you see where that falls down a little? -

Hull have shown how to play a transfer window when on the edge of the playoffs. Three good signings, each time we’ve been in the playoffs we seem to have weakened our team in the January window. It’s no coincidence that on two consecutive seasons we were well placed in the playoff spots only to miss out completely. -
Just scored a cracker within the opening 30 seconds.

They will have known that Wharton is likely to be off for at least a week or two so surely we’ve been looking at options to bolster the midfield. We were already light after Travis going as Buckley isn’t going to be fit for a while. Surely we have some targets lined up and all but agreed subject to Wharton going. That’s what any sensible club would be doing anyway -

He’s definitely not the Irish foden based on this. Think he’s been very poor. -

I’m guessing they will only be sold in home ends if you have a ticket buying history. Saw yesterday what happens with away fans in home ends. -

Im pleased someone called out the ‘get £25m for Wharton and sign 6 players nonsense’. We’ve just had to slash the wage bill so I can’t suddenly see us freeing up wages for 6 new players. If we take it from the Wharton money it leaves us about £500k for the signing. We are shopping in bargain basement land! Ideally we can get a high earner in Gallagher off the books. His wages may allow us to bring in one or two players on loan. He’s on a decent amount. The lad from Newport looks like he knows where the back of the net is 🙂 Or if we want to take a gamble fork out the £1.5m for Macaulay Langstaff. -

We need to include loan fees as part of the sell on for Wharton as a club like Chelsea could recoup a fair chunk of what they pay for him with 3 loans. On the Yates thing, I wanted us to go for him when he left Blackpool so I’d be happy with him as a Gallagher replacement.
