  1. Could you merge the two, Mods? As there was some good chat post his debut on Saturday. Passing range of Tugay, but can also screen the defence and win the ball back over all the pitch … then starting another attack. Even Duff and Dunn didn’t make a debut like that.
  2. He’d been falling out with the owner throughout the summer by all accounts.
  3. If you are discussing it as an actual goer for a deadline day transfer, of course it needs to be based on some semblance of reality. Or why not, start discussing half the PL? If you are just fantasy football musing how he’d fit in with Travis in the midfield, then fair enough. It can go in the legendary pile with Wilkins, Zidane, Ronaldinho et al.
  4. He was always going to get another Championship gig. Whatever brfcs thought, the wider game (and the wider Rovers fanbase) thought he did a decent job. So of course he’d be in the frame for a club in Sunderland’s position. All that daft talk on here about ‘he’ll never work at this level again’, ‘Hartlepool is the only local job he’d get’ was just that.
  5. He’s been sacked because he’s fallen out with the owner over the transfer budget and was slagging off his players in public after a good hiding. Age old arguments, nowt to do with ‘philosophies’, ‘sporting directors’ and ‘structures’.
  6. Didn’t Pete end up running the club’s soccer schools for a good while?
  7. Florent Sinama-Pongolle
  8. Full stadium, at Middlesbrough?! They get higher crowds than us, but their average gates aren’t vastly higher, but they have generally been a far better run football club, they actually ‘trade’. However, Wolves, they ain’t.
  9. Bang average manager but another example of how parachute money can propel even no marks like Parker to promotion. And it’s why the Dingles will be up there.
  10. It was mid April which made it even more surreal. They were a great side, but we looked like we were going to be up there with them in the first half of that season until a characteristic collapse in the new year…
  11. I get that, but I’m talking about if the final day had gone differently. We’ll never know, and I’ll never change the day I experienced at Anfield, but if United had have won, we wouldn’t have just signed Matty Holmes…
  12. He did ok at Bradford, so a loan to L2 would be sensible. Unfortunately he’s nowhere near Championship standard.
  13. He will be the new Ross Barkley down there.
  14. If Andy Cole had netted one of those 10 chances he had at West Ham, I wager we would’ve seen a very different summer of ‘95 and ergo the rest of the 90s. Obviously we wouldn’t swap Anfield for anything, but an interesting counter-factual nonetheless…
  15. The LT has a weekly beer columnist, defo need to get them tapped up to get our Merce a wine gig.
  16. Pretty much every random loanee that came in from 2013 to about 2017.
  17. Just loved his whole demeanour, socks down his ankles, always showing for the ball, perfect angle and weight of pass every time, like a lanky Tugay.
  18. Fairly typical for a fair chunk of Stoke away support in my experience
  19. Arrigho Sacchi never played the game at any level and was one of the greatest managers of all time. Unless you see them work at Brockhall day in day out how do we know if a member of the coaching staff is good, bad or indifferent?
  20. Take it Mourinho had no right to be a manager then, Simon?
  21. That was us in 2012…
  22. The crowds are still well up on this time last season. Nearly 2,000 more home fans on than the late August game last year…
  23. He’ll get a decent reception, no question.
  24. Surprised that an out of work football manager for hire is taking a big job at one of the closest clubs to his house?
  25. Sky always say ‘Mowbray teams play good football’, so to be fair to fans of other clubs that rarely watched Rovers they will believe it. A few of us on here said he had re-built his reputation at BRFC and would get another decent Championship gig as he would be seen as a decent second tier manager within the game - the ‘one of the worst managers we’ve EVER had’ brigade weren’t for having it though…
