January Transfer window 2022

The replacement Riverside was always a piss poor, cheap make do job, it’s only four years older than the Jack Walker and look at the state of it! The original Riverside was a ‘non generic’ stand with ‘essence’, not that present carbuncle. -
Sure he was provided with some ‘data’ from the various wonks. Common sense out the window…

Green pitch, overcast, Broad in great form against their top order. So let’s win the toss and get bowling… Toss won, Broad dropped and choose to bat 🤦♂️

FFP doesn’t impact infrastructure improvements. And something will need to be done with it medium term, though I imagine they’ll just shut it on ‘safety grounds’ like Barnsley have just done with one of their stands. FYI - It’s not the fanbase asking for a new Riverside, we are all aware of how empty Ewood is, but some big idea out of the mouth of Swag, that then gets quietly dropped… like the Tony Parkes tribute and many others. -
Premier League season 21/22

Tight budgets, but debt free with local owners to… tight budgets, loaded with debt by US private equity owners. -
We didn’t leave the top 6, but the wheels came off big time back end of the season, we thought we had a sniff at the title going in to the new year and then lost 9 times February onwards. That bad form carried on into 98/99 and the rest is history.

But with four months left on contracts you wouldn’t be ‘cashing in’ on the likes of Lenihan and Rothwell. You’d be getting a pittance, and for that pittance you could be risking the chance of a real ‘cash in’ - promotion! -
There a 🦜 in here?

Don’t know, they have often moved quite quickly for managers, Lambert and a whole new coaching staff were in post very quickly after Bowyer. Mowbray was in a day after Coyle was potted. And of course he who must not be named didn’t hang about to get in Sam’s chair. Now you may not particularly rate said appointees, but there’s obviously folk greasing the wheels down there when it comes to manager appointments…

I doubt it will be a game picked for one of the UK TV live slots. However, a load of 3rd round ties have been moved to early Saturday and Sunday KOs in recent seasons due to that foreign TV deal, from memory with the BBC also putting on a Soccer Saturday style show at the same time showing goals as they go in.
-
Well of course, though he’d already been mentioned.
-
Keith Gillespie worked out a decent signing, McAteer wasn’t terrible, I suppose… but after that I’m struggling.
-
I think that foreign TV deal is still in place, so yeah Sunday at 12pm it is…

Attendances: A cause for concern

Can’t see an enormous following, still a fair trek for a game with no public transport - now say it’d have been a Hudds or Stoke then definitely. -
It was holding up fine before Saturday. But looked fairly cut up around the centre circle by full time, we’ll just have to see what they can do with it prior to the Birmingham game…

PNE would’ve have sold plenty more at £25 for a start. £30 was the *cheapest* ticket, the most popular stand for walk ons - JWU was £36. That isn’t the going rate for second division football, and despite our cracking form, we saw our lowest PNE crowd for 40 years - so ‘outrage’ or not, it obviously wasn’t deemed a value price by the respective fanbases. -

And that’s the rub TS. Are some ‘boycotting’, yes, but a very small number in the grand scheme of things, are some PL fans? Yes. Can they be enticed back at some point in the future, depending on circumstances? Yes. There’s also the floating fan that comes out for a juicy game or if the club is on a bit of a roll results wise. Many of those have never committed to a ST in the first place, so never really get out of the habit. However, the ones that have gone for good are the thousands of ex-ST holders who went as a matter of routine and whatever the reason was for them initially stopping, they won’t return as they are now well out the habit, now have family commitments, have taken up new hobbies etc etc and wouldn’t even think about giving up every other weekend again - and those are fans a club with our limited fanbase will miss. -
Bloody hell TS, we’ve not played them regularly for 40 odd years, so yes ‘different’! 😁

An away that’s a little different, a Harrogate, Carlisle, Halifax, Chesterfield etc. Or a trip to Liverpool or Manchester for a jolly day out.

Of course a winning side puts bums on seats, yesterday being a prime example, that crowd would have been substantially lower if we’d have been mid table. Is he wholly to blame? Of course not, we live in a complex economy and lots of competition for the leisure pound. However he’s put the prices up by about £200 in the last three seasons of attendance, with the last hefty raise after 18 months out of the ground with folk out of the habit, then absolute minimum marketing to boot, just piss poor salesmanship. Three thousand lost ST holders speaks for itself. -

£30 minimum price, up to £36 is not the ‘going rate’, at all. As for your example. Supply and demand, Bournemouth have a 10k stadium and are pretty much full each week, whereas…
