  1. In the 90s we had a few games in which thousands of kids were brought from schools. The day of the Le Tiss wonder goal was one. Club was going for the title and we still did it. Now obviously much easier to get kids to come to watch that then Rovers V Brentford, plus are teachers as willing to give up their Saturday, all the risk assessing etc... However, you look over to Stanley and much more certainly needs to be done here.
  2. That Johnson was on top form, supposedly. He’s always looked a handful whenever I’ve seen him.
  3. It’s been the case a lot this season. West Brom and Stoke had sold about 800 before open sale, we took around 2,000 to both.
  4. Your pals used to send you to the offy for the beers then, I take it?
  5. Any feedback? Hopefully some actual ideas for initiatives were offered...
  6. Look at Preston sitting at the big boys table... https://www.thetimes.co.uk/article/championship-clubs-appoint-lawyers-in-tv-fight-with-efl-9h8lb9w0g
  7. The reps last night did a decent job, but I do think a more specific session needs setting up on actual crowd initiatives the club should be looking into... (Though it doesn’t look as if they’re listening)
  8. Just read his quotes on that article and compare and contrast to his clownshoe predecessor.
  9. The new font and general look of the threads looks good. The light blue banner and HAL red eye... not sure!
  10. And on it goes... https://www.pne-online.net/forum/forum/football-forums/pne-discussions/3404078-when-the-rover-s-fans/page2
  11. History proves what? Going from the third division to mid table in the second division isn’t ‘success’ for Blackburn Rovers, so crowds aren’t suddenly going to rise by 4/5000 (to meet Waggott’s break even figure), especially with a 17% increase in price.
  12. 26,000 Rovers fans paying £10 for a one off promotion party, what’s your point BDS? The fact we haven’t had more than around 12/13,000 home fans for pretty much every other league game since 2012 is a much better barometer.
  13. In my view, the problem with Waggott is he just doesn’t seem to get the Rovers fanbase. He sees a 31,000 ground and a famous name, so improve the results and gates will improve markedly, not a lot else to do. Sorry Steve, it doesn’t work like that here. We are a club with a limited fanbase, based in a non affluent town with challenging demographics, in a highly competitive region. Season tickets between £320 and £400, match tickets at £24-£30 for mid table Championship football and he expects 16,000 gates? We have 10-12,000 that turn up year in year out, but at this level we have to work hard to get it much higher. We aren’t based in an area like Waggott’s old stomping ground of Coventry, yes they are in the doldrums, but they have a big potential support in a city three times the size of Blackburn and a fanbase that stretches across Warwickshire (no other league clubs to compete with). John Williams got it but it just doesn’t look like this guy will.
  14. The ‘local promotion’ rule looks as if it’s been discontinued by the EFL. I read it that they still want their £27 from the away support, so I imagine any offer will only be for a match where the away support will be minimal.
  15. SW: "I'd like to know why people think we didn't. That was an event not a game. [Oxford] Emails from ticket sales have been followed up, contacted numerous times, with other offers, but the pick up hasn't been great. Done everything we can as a club, but many came as it was a one-off game." ‘The club did everything it could’, so that’s that then. Did anyone on here who bought an Oxford ticket get contacted ‘numerous times’ to buy a season ticket? No thoughts about pricing, season ticket or match day, initiatives for young adults etc. All sounds very defeatist, so let’s hope TM can do the business and let the lure of PL football bring people in, because obviously Waggott won’t be doing.
  16. I’m reading a lot of; ‘Darwen End, not enough demand, so we shut it’ ’Radio Rovers wont be brought back, too expensive’ ’We need 15,500-16,000 averages to break even and we aren’t hitting it’ All undoubtably true, but anyone asking why this is this the case? Why aren’t we hitting the break even figure, why we can’t afford these things and what are they going to do about it?
  17. Even if it’s only a hundred extra, would it not still be worth it? Plus tonight they’ll get the backing of a big crowd which surely can only help with the situation they’re in.
  18. Plus, if Preston have a poor season they won’t be bringing anywhere near the numbers they have in the past. So we’ll end up kicking off at 12pm with a half full Darwen End and a load of Rovers fans watching it on the red button!
  19. And Sheff Utd. My point being, at least we’ve avoided the midweek red buttons at home through winter.
  20. 5550 away fans, 3pm is fine. 6800, which is what Leeds’ initial allocation was and will be Preston’s, 12pm. Why does this 1300 make such a difference? And why was this not in place for the Man Utd cup tie? If it’s ‘safety’, then that’s that, does that go out the window because BT wanted to show it at 4pm?
  21. We’ve got lucky this season, we’ve no midweek matches between Sheff Utd in early October and Wigan in mid March.
  22. I’ve been impressed with Williams every time I’m seen him at centre back, certainly an option, but then you’d have to play Bell at LB, who seems to be regressing.
  23. Season ticket for the Premier League at 25% of the price.
