  1. End of the day if most season ticket holders turn up, it’ll be a decent crowd, as I imagine a fair few match by match ticket buyers/casual fans will be there. If they don’t, it won’t, as we don’t have a vast fanbase outside the season ticket holder base to take up the slack. So it’s not as easy as saying ‘Why do the owners bother, when the fans can’t be arsed’ as that group are arsed as a rule as they buy a season ticket. They just don’t normally bother with cup ties, maybe they will this time, but I have my doubts.
  2. Wait til the LT either shuts down or bans comments, give it a week until we see tallrover joining this cesspit of doom.
  3. Indeed, and we’ve only won one home game out of 4 since the move upstairs in early November, and that was a penalty in a terrible performance against QPR. 2 wins from 2 when they were put back downstairs - Sheffield Wed and WBA. So back downstairs for standard followings for me.
  4. If a side brings say 4,000+, certainly fill the top tier first and put the over spill downstairs, great way of spitting up a potential noisy following. But when the likes of Ipswich bring 300, I personally think having them in a corner of the top tier makes that whole side of the ground look pretty tragic.
  5. I don’t think our away support has been consistently as good as it is now, numbers and volume, for many years.
  6. All publicity is good publicity, no? (Read below the line) https://www.lancashiretelegraph.co.uk/sport/football/rovers/news/17342685.tony-mowbray-on-reaching-100-games-in-charge-of-rovers/
  7. I think the top tier away allocation experiment has been a failure and I'm not sure why it's been even brought in. Don't think it has impacted our results either way, just makes Ewood look even more desolate.
  8. And another... https://www.rovers.co.uk/news/2019/january/tony-urges-fans-to-pack-ewood-for-cup-clash/
  9. We are live on BT. Week today (7.45). BBC are showing Southampton v FLDC.
  10. No they got a £15 discount. 45 to 30.
  11. Think they only took something similar to Everton midweek this season.
  12. Weekend maybe, but you could be right for midweek.
  13. Totally agree Phil. But cup ties are a strange phenomenon at Ewood. There’s 10,000-ish season ticket holders, but many just won’t turn up. So unlike league games where they are counted anyway, as they aren’t for cup games, it blows a hole in any crowd figure.
  14. 1970s - Chelsea, Arsenal (x2), Leeds, Sunderland, West Ham, Liverpool, Southampton, Man Utd, Ipswich
  15. ‘Lower league club at home to PREMIER LEAGUE big boys’ So if we get through, it could be on TV too, what a giant killing if we beat the mighty Watford!
  16. As much I was praying they’d get knocked out by them, they didn’t they and had trips to Athens and Istanbul...
  17. I imagine we’ll read plenty of this pleas over the next week... https://www.lancashiretelegraph.co.uk/sport/football/rovers/news/17340397.mowbrays-call-to-fans-ahead-of-newcastle-united-replay/
  18. Yes. I.e he can actually run a channel and hold a ball up for the last 10 minutes of a game. Beyond someone else at the moment...
  19. I don’t mind Samuel. He could certainly do a job as a late sub for Graham, actually resembles a forward. Gladwin isn’t ever going to make it at this level, and it’s an area of the pitch we are well stocked in, don’t even consider a new deal.
  20. That stat is exactly what has ruined it for me. Not the FA Cup’s fault, just the modern English game in a nutshell. Compare to the 1950s to 1980s in which club after club won it, club’s full of tradition that make up the fabric of a fantastic football country. Now the ‘big 6’ take turns, horrible.
  21. Good job they got through in the cup, that 100k prize money will keep them going, well until February’s wages are due...
  22. Out of contract in the summer, isn’t he?
  23. We just don’t sell tickets for standard cup ties, we haven’t for years. Even a quarter final against Millwall, semi final against Villa etc had around 8,000 home fans. Largely because a majority of season ticket holders don’t bother. We need to put Oxford to one side, total one off event.
  24. God knows! I know a few myself. They’ve paid their money in July and that’s that. Especially when it’s on TV.
  25. 20,000?! For a game probably on BBC1? If there’s 8k home fans there I’d be surprised. The reason Rotherham in the league will have more home fans than Newcastle in the cup is because a majority of season ticket holders don’t bother buying a ticket for cup ties, simple as that.
