Yep, like I was saying the other day season ticket sales across the Championship next season will be interesting. Second tier crowds at their highest levels since the 1950s has lulled the greedy clubs into a false sense of security that it’s just like the Premier League down here, you can put half the games on TV and folk will turn out in record numbers regardless… guess what, they won’t, as this ain’t the PL.

2024/25 Season Tickets

Waste of time here as Burnley aside every away game will go to general sale. -
So when I was being patronised by a few on here on Saturday for even merely suggesting that us being the only game in the top 3 divisions to be postponed may have just a little to do with having our drainage facilities being long overdue for replacing has now been corroborated by the head groundsman…
-
And shows they have zero understanding of fanbases and how they are made up of differing types of fans with diverse behaviours and what drives sales at varying times of a summer. I.e. some pay no attention to early birds etc, they just make a late decision to buy on the back of a positive vibe, some good late signings, two early wins… but it’s pushing 500 quid? Err, no thanks!
-
I get phase 1 and 2, they all do it and we certainly want cash flow. But phase 3 stops a potential latecomer getting one full stop, surely a little bit of extra cash in August is better than none at all.
-
All clubs seem to do some kind of early bird, marketing BS, but it is what it is. However, that phase 3 nonsense which will obviously put off any potential buyer in the couple of weeks in the run up to the season when folk are getting into football mode again, or if we won a couple of early games and there’s a bit of a buzz around the place. Can anybody explain the rationale of that apart from actively trying to put potential customers off?
-
I presumed it’s because WATR and brfcs are no in partnership as much as anything... which is still poor comms for me as surely this place should be a key part of any stakeholder management/comms plan.

John Park head of recruitment

There were some on here in the summer who thought he was a marvellous appointment, presumably their thumbs up will be along shortly… -
Any other pro club in the country you reckon that doesn’t open its shop or ticket office on a working day?
-
Ferguson spotted when it was a one new team to build too many and jumped ship… maybe Pep should’ve done the same in the summer and rode off into the sunset.
-
It’ll be £35 to £45 just after Christmas and new year, on Sky. Yeah getting a ticket won’t be too much of an issue…
-
No, definitely 93/94.

‘93

So nothing at all to do drainage, glad that’s cleared up. Ah well, act of god, so there will be another postponement coming along soon enough then.
-
So the game was called off for a flood risk in the surrounding area? Or a waterlogged pitch? I imagine it was because it was waterlogged at 11am. Is the drainage worse than it was a decade ago at Ewood Park? Simple question, as to me we seem to be getting a lot more postponements. Remember post ‘95 the pitch and its facilities were totally revamped (the pitch was a bog at times in 94/95) - we then didn’t have a single postponement for pretty much 20 years for rain. I don’t know the answer, and neither do those trying to paint this purely as a River Darwen issue.
-
To question why we are the only game in the top three divisions postponed is ‘ridiculous’? I’d say it’s a fair question that shouldn’t be just batted away with ‘the river’. What state is the Ewood drainage system in etc seems a reasonable question to ask…
-
How many games were waterlogged post Wimbledon in 1993 and this lot getting hold of the club… and how many since?
-
Only game in the top three divisions to be called off. Yep, wholly about the River Darwen.
-
Of course. If this club ever got its act together crowds would rocket… alas we limp on for ever more.
-
Crossed wires then. Yep, some on here need to wake up to the fact the vast majority of the thousands that disappeared between 2010 and 2012 have gone, for good.

You should be thinking about England selections now, tut tut. -

So you don’t think about Rovers in the summer? -

Nobody will give England a second thought now for months.
