  1. What a player that Simon Garner was, remember the game like it was yesterday. Sadly events at Hillsborough would overshadow the day. RIP the 96.
  2. They're billionaire owners, of course they can? Promotion isn't the be all and end all here, these are club assets and you don't let your best assets leave the club. These players have proven this season they've got what it takes to move this club forward, they should be kept at all costs, its as simple as that.
  3. Football runs on contracts Islander, you can't get away from that, some work out, some don't. The first thing Venkys did upon arrival at the club was separate out all the players with contract incentives, bonuses, new deal clauses and forced them out of the club. You actually need look no further for proof on how Venkys view contracts that right there. Just because Mowbray wanted to reward the players who got the club promoted from league 1 with new deals, doesn't in any way explain why Berg wasn't paid up, or why he wasn't able to bring any backroom staff in, or why Bowyer was in the press weekly asking for new player contracts, or why Lambert left. I'm sure one thing we both agree on: Our billionaire owners could pick up the phone right now and give the promotion push a massive boost by paying these players what they think they're worth.
  4. The club can't operate without staff, but when push comes to shove they're loathed to pay decent contracts and we're not talking the peanuts the likes of Bennett was on either. Henning Berg was under contract to Blackburn Rovers, it ended up in the high court because Venkys refused to pay that contract, those are the facts whichever way you slice it, Salgado, Nelson, Emerton, Roberts and many more, Venkys refused to pay the contracts and forced them out of the club, one of the reasons Lambert left was because Venkys refused to discuss contracts for his backroom team never mind players. But lets keep this current, why are half our first team players potentially on the brink of walking away for nothing? Mowbray is on record as he wants them to sign, Waggott is on record as he wants them to stay?
  5. Haven't we been told 2 deals have been on the table for 18 months? The owners don't like giving out contracts, its been that way since they arrived, we've seen it time and time again, they don't believe in them and its one of the reasons Lambert left and the sole reason we ended up in The High Court over Berg. This isn't down to Mowbray or Waggott, its down to the owners who could solve this issue with a phone call right now....After all they're losing £20m a season and have been doing since they arrived, whats a few more ££££ to sign up our first team regulars?
  6. You'd not get served in The Hake Boat looking like that.
  7. No you don't, the vast majority would be in favour of such a move, if not everyone. The ticket deals have improved, its clear Waggott is listening, which is more than most have done over the past 10yrs under these owners. Could he do more to increase gates, yes, but its not all doom and gloom as you seem to paint Matty. Oh yes, the product on the pitch helps too 😁
  8. Bangladesh about to win the 1st test in NZ. The tourists want 38 to win with no wickets down, in what would be a massive shock. BT Sport3 now.
  9. Raining in Sydney, weather looks poor for the rest of the week too. We could get a draw!
  10. https://www.lancashiretelegraph.co.uk/sport/19823058.blackburn-rovers-q-contracts-transfers-team-prospects/ Not sure if this has been linked elsewhere, its finished now, but some interesting content on current goings on down at Ewood.
  11. Clearly not Darwen Rover or they'd have signed. With the club riding this crest of a wave, how good would it be for the club to immediately offer these players increases on the deals and get them signed for the next league game? That is what Jack and John Williams would have done, within reason of course, but then again we'd never have gotten to this stage in the first place.
  12. If it doesn't make sense, its probably not true JH.
  13. We never played them for 10yrs and we certainly never sat 2nd Championship on a run like we are right now when we did.
  14. I have it downloaded. I recall at the time, English players and commentators falling over themselves to be involved, money money money, but something didn’t seem right. Stanford was in the crowd wrapped around players wives and girlfriends, it was all very bizarre.
  15. For a side in the playoffs 40 miles away? We'd have sold double that had we had the opportunity in my opinion. Poor following.
  16. Just over 16,000 on yesterday and as predicated a really poor following from 6th place Udders. If the product on the pitch is worth supporting, the fans will come. Time for Waggott to look at a promotion package, 3 game bundle for £45, lets put even more bums on seats please.
  17. What a brilliant seasons it’s been so far, much better than anyone could have imagined. As fans can hold our heads up high and that’s in no small part to the manager Tony Mowbray and the players he’s assembled. Our squad is threadbare, we looked leggy today, the owners need to provide funds now to keep the momentum going, we may never have a better opportunity than this season to go up. Onwards and upwards.
  18. Just imagine how angry you’d be if you actually went to games!
  19. Should have been, we missed a hatful.
  20. I'd like us to bring a marquee signing into the club, experienced former international that can command immediate respect to guide this side down the home straight, but who that player would be I have no idea and as Jim says above, not bleedin Sturridge. I also wouldn't rule out bringing an old player or 2 back to work behind the scenes, a former Premiership winner maybe? Help them understand what this means to the town and its supporters. We may not get anther chance at this, we need all the help we can get.
  21. The numbers don't add do they Matty? £15 a ticket wouldn't have pulled in 20k fans I'm afraid, which ever way you slice it. A winning team does bring out the fans, our gates have steadily increased which proves that point nicely. If you'd like to discuss further I'll happily continue the debate on the attendances thread.
  22. Huddersfield took 1000 to Forest last night at £25, where are another 3.5k coming from to get close to Sheff Utd following? .........and I've not started on our lot?
  23. Remind me what the gate was against Sheff Utd Sparks? One thing that immediately jumps out here, the moaning is about ticket pricing, a very valid argument for football supporters across the land and not about the manager, the players or the owners! That is a result surely!
  24. Every player in this league wants to play in the Premiership, its the pinnacle of a players careers to do so, many don't make it. Can you imagine if Mowbray went public and said he'd not sell Brereton to a Premiership club for any price? What would that do to the lad himself and the relationship with the manager? Mowbray knows his players, his man management is superb, look how he dealt with the Armstrong sale if you don't believe me. He doesn't want to lose Brereton, only the owners can force through that sale mid season, time will tell on that score.
  25. Not wanting to deflect this thread, but the club are trying, you seem to be forgetting: The club reduced the Sheff Utd game to under £15 across the board. The Preston home game and Blackpool home games have been reduced in price too. The club is introducing a Category C for all non-holiday midweek games, which will see adult ticket prices capped at £20. Next Generation Initiative, with 1,000 supporters having been invited to watch games in the upper tier of the Blackburn End will also continue. The club seem to be trying in this area as far as I'm concerned.
