  1. Agreed. But I do have to take issue with this messageboard 'divine right nonsense' over promotion from league one, not aimed at you RoverReturn, just a general comment. Look at the number of promotions we've had in our entire history, its not that many, they don't come along that often, yet the league one promotion seems to be overlooked because we had a decent wage budget? Is this driven by overseas posters who didn't witness the scenes at Doncaster or at home to Oxford? because that promotion along with all the others I've witnessed will live with me forever and I couldn't care less about the wages being paid or the transfer kitty. Ask Sunderland, Ipswich or Portsmouth if they're rather be in league 1 or Championship, all have decent budgets, all languishing in the lower leagues.
  2. If the club I supported had dumped United out of the cup I would be.
  3. I loved Mark Hughes time here, best times since Kenny as we've said on many occasions, but if Mowbray gets us up, in the current climate and we have a choice to make, its going to be a tough one. I wouldn't, you'd be wasting your time, but I'll explain it again just for you. His recruitment in the summer, on a shoe string, has been phenomenal, but that doesn't take away from the fact he missed out on most of his number 1 targets due to lack of funding, plan b,c and d were put into action. Makes his achievements even more outstanding, I'm sure you'll agree.
  4. Its already been a great achievement to have this side in the current position we reside. The club and town have a bit of pride back too and thats down to this manager and these players. The Summer recruitment was an absolute shambles, we were beaten to almost every first choice option due to lack of funds, we lost our leading goal scorer and look what we've achieved. Mowbray will already go down as a very good Blackburn Rovers manager, not many have promotions under the belts, if he takes this side up against a backdrop of the worst owners ever to own a football club, he'll go down in Blackburn Rovers history as one of the greats, if not the greatest.
  5. https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/cricket/59754595 Silverwood and Giles gone today, something had to give after that debacle we all predicted.
  6. Hate the paper, but credit to them for printing Tonys story. https://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-10465931/Blackburn-Rovers-fans-launch-fundraiser-dementia-suffering-Tony-Parkes-PFA-refused-help.html
  7. We can still go up in the playoffs, but I'd rather not bother with that route if at all possible.
  8. All those managers, who never achieved promotion to Division 1, didn’t have to work under meddling owners that have zero footballing nous and frankly are as thick as a bar top. Mowbray will be a legend if he gets this side and dysfunctional basket case of a club promoted. No doubt about that, one of the greatest achievements in the football clubs history.
  9. I went on the train, you had to have your wits about you even with 40 of your mates in tow, hostile place Leeds. The Boxing Day? game around the same time when Rovers came back from 0-2 down was probably the best atmosphere I’ve experienced following Rovers away, 4000+ Rovers fans packed behind the goal, great memories. Just checked, it wasn't boxing day: Leeds United v Blackburn Rovers, 27 February 1988 Score 2-2 Competition League Division Two Attendance 23,843
  10. I think its because of the absolute shite that some feel we've missed a golden opportunity here darren. We are both long enough in the tooth to realise this is going to be a slog from now until May and we'll probably fall short on the automatic places sadly, but I'd rather be where we are now, than in a relegation dog fight where many posters had us. Tony Mowbray has done a phenomenal this season, the players have responded to the challenge and we have a bit of pride back into the club and town, thats enough for me right now to be honest. Onwards and upwards.
  11. Decent window on the whole, we certainly seem stronger now as a group, but not strong enough to go up automatically I don't think, but time will tell. As some of us have been saying for a while now, its hard to compete with the ex-premiership clubs and yesterday proved that perfectly. Bournemouth have outspent everyone in the pursuit of Premiership football and I think they'll now claim 2nd place down the home straight. Rothwell needs to have a word with himself, he's certainly not helped Mowbray who plucked him from obscurity and we have evidence once again that the owners are meddling in first team affairs. You pay a manager to manage, let him do his job you morons.
  12. Thinking of following him by any chance? 😁
  13. Promotion will convince you, never say never.
  14. I don’t like it, madness to sell at this stage and especially to a rival, but I trust Mowbray. The manager and players have been brilliant this season, interesting day to come tomorrow.
  15. Everyone breathe……. Who are we replacing Rothwell with?
  16. Mowbray said last week we won’t be selling Rothwell without having a replacement, we’re not going to weaken the side. Who are we bringing in with the Rothwell money?
  17. Nobody said otherwise, but.... I'd go as far as to say you're not Sparks, I've never known a poster who proclaims to be involved in football get some much wrong, Mercer maybe on reflection, I hope you're better at the day job. **In the interests of the new rules - This is tongue in cheek**
  18. Tony Mowbray has been in this game for decades, he understands football better than the any welder, teacher, accountant and butcher that posts on this site. This business seems bonkers to me, mind blowing even, but I trust the manager, look at our league position for proof. Rothwell is a first class w****r for forcing this through, we can all agree on that, but trust the manager, get behind the team and let’s push on. Tony has an ace up his sleeve, I wonder who it is? Onwards and upwards.
  19. This isn't Allardyce's Blackburn Rovers RV, the tin foils slipping over your eyes.
  20. This board don’t want to go, they’ll have to pay more in wages 🙄😂 (Blackburn Rovers 1979-1989)
  21. Is this not where the PFA should step in and help? Taylor has just left with over £3m in his pocket by all accounts, surely they can find a few quid for ex-players?
  22. His performances so far are not signalling that Tony, he was going to Rangers until Gerrard left and was playing his best football since his arrival from Oxford. At this stage in proceedings he should stay and get his head down, unless Mowbray can once again pull a rabbit out of the hat to replace his undoubted quality.
  23. If only Carlsberg did football clubs.......😉 Rothwell clearly doesn't think we've much chance of going up wanting to jump ship like this, does he know something we don't.
  24. This may come as a shock to you Rev, but I'm not a decision maker at Ewood, I offer my opinion only on a messageboard, I'd make Rothwell stay if I was the manager, no 180 here. Do I really need to explain this to you? The owners are meddling in team affairs and no amount of deflection from you will change that.
