[Archived] 2005/6 Season Ticket Sales
Gav replied to Mike Graham's topic in Football Messageboard Archive
I'm sure most people on this site realise that we're currently in a very depressing downward trend in terms of season ticket sales. In my opinion we'll struggle to sell 13,000 this time around and home attendances will again take a hit like they've done for the past few years. Many reasons can be put forward as to why we can't put bums on seats but undoubtedly the rubbish we've been watching recently is a major factor above all else I’d say. Even with reduced prices people just don't come to Ewood anymore and that’s a big worry. I look around the league at teams with similar aspirations to us: Bolton are going to sell-out of season tickets and are putting people on a waiting list. Charlton are increasing the ground capacity because they can't fit everyone in that wants to come. Why the hell are we not able to do the same? Or even get 25k home fans through the gate for the bigger games? We've had far more success in recent times than either of the teams mentioned but yet were getting out supported.... Like BF has already mentioned if you can't sell season tickets you'll not sign player like McCarthy or bellamy, we'll end up with Marcus bent again or someone of his ability. It’s about time the town woke up to the realisation that we're not going to survive in this league without they're support. Unfortunately I can see us back in the championship in 3-4yrs time because we just can't continue like we are and gates falling is a major factor in this. Maybe the championship is actually our level in terms of support and wages to reflect that support....... If we go down it'll be to late so we need the Blackburn public to act now. PS, Would never happen but an open letter in the Telegraph spelling out the need for the Blackburn public to come back to Ewood or face a very uncertain future in the top flight may prick a few consciences? -
Just been to the ticket office and 7000 been sold Lets hope plenty turn up on the night because to be honest 7000 is disgusting.

I'm just wondering if anyone else fears for the future of Blackburn Rovers like i do? Gates are falling worryingly, and now people just can't be arsed to turn out for what is being billed as a championship reunion party? What the club achieved back in 1995 was nothing short of remarkable yet people just don't give a toss anymore and this attitude has been evident for the past few years with the falling gates. Debs says i've been working in burnley to long but i'm starting to worry that burnley will sell more season tickets than we will, they've sold around 8500 so far....... I fear for our club i really do.

She'd never been to Rovers before she met me!

I'm trying to contact a fellow poster who goes by the name of Debs. I think she lives in Sheffield but i'm not sure. Sorry to post it here but i've no other way of contacting her

I've been going for the past 20yrs through thick and thin and I can't get a ticket? Hope the part time bandwagon jumpers enjoy their day at Anfield

This has been done to death but: Shearer hurt many people when he left the club. He had no consideration whatsoever for the predicament he was leaving the club in, we had no strikers and no time to replace him. A few weeks before he'd posed in the new kit and made all the right noises for the coming season. We bought season tickets and shirts with his name on. Ray bought players to compliment Shearer, shearer s**t on us all. He went to see Fergie at Utd despite claims he only wanted to join his home town club, he lied to the Blackburn fans and would have joined Utd if Jack had allowed it. Then on his return with Newcastle he was roundly applauded when he came out to warm up, then when the game started he was booed and abused, rightly so. After the game he questioned the loyalty of the Blackburn fans how can he question our loyalty? The guy was a hero, but not after the way he treated Blackburn Rovers.
-
This old chestnut again. I don't want to get into a slanging match regarding Shearer's exit from Ewood again...but I also can't stand to see history being rewritten. As I understand it Shearer WANTED to appear on stage at the 'Theatre of Screams' but Jack Walker would not sanction it. The Barcodes where Shearers 2nd choice. Grow up!

Booooooooooo Altogether now "One greedy b*****d"

I think you'll find Berkshires buying the ale

Just bought 2 adult and 1 under 16 ticket for the Scottish cup semi final on Sunday between Hearts and Celtic: £35 in total! Our semi final ticket prices are just sickening.
-
I think you'll struggle to find where i've slagged off the fans? Maybe you think my time would be better spent moaning and groaning about transport issues and ticket allocation ps, Lad from work has just returned from the ticket office and was told that we've sold 5000 tickets up to the close of business yesterday.
-
I don't GAV ....... seem to remember a similar little quirk from you over the Dingle tickets Very true Capt but speaking to many die hards they're just not bothering to go to Cardiff and thats a clear indication to me that we'll suffer with ticket sales for this one. Hope i'm wrong.

I'll have a piece of that......You're on!

[Archived] Toshack Blames Hughes
Gav replied to RovertheHill's topic in Football Messageboard Archive
I've always had a soft spot for Wales simply because they've missed out so many times when looking like qualifying for the big tournaments. If memory serves me correctly Hughes record was less than impressive but you can only go with the players you've got and looking through the Wales side its not exactly brimming with quality. Hughes seems very capable of assembling a team that can punch above its weight with limited resources and i think thats been the case both managing Wales and Blackburn Rovers. Toshack on the other hand has been given the keys to the treasure chest on numerous occasions in Spain and has blown it more than achieved success. Obviously he's a proud man who doesn't want to build on whats been created by the previous manager and that is a big mistake. He's also managed to make a number of enemies along the way with his outspoken comments and its not surprising some of the older end have decided to retire. You can see nothing but hard times for Toshack and most of it is his own doing so i'll not be feeling sorry for Wales in the future. -
The guys a complete p***k but on the other hand great entertainment. The Porto side he created cheated their way to the European and UEFA cups, yet he complains about the very same tactics adopted against Chelsea? Jose, we've all been to Chelsea with 8k on, you'll never created a decent football club with such fickle support......... PLASTIC..............

Me thinks you ain't the real deal matey boy......

Have a look at a map and you'll notice there's a ****ing big river estuary slap bang between Bristol and Cardiff. The tunnel the trains go through is 4 1/2 miles long. It took thousands of men nearly 15 years and 76 million bricks to build it (opened in 1886). They didn't build a spare one. Comedy genius, you're wasted in your current role

For an extra £30 you could have stayed in the best western with sauna Jacuzzi and all the trimmings

Plenty of rooms left HERE and only 20 minutes by train to Cardiff central
