I do get the point, I just don’t agree with it. For the avoidance of any doubt, despite his limited technical ability at this level I rate Travis because I think what he does bring to the team is desperately needed.
-
You’re absolutely right, forgot Leo. He can be added on there until further notice too.
-
Interesting. I’d go: 1 - Wharton (agreed, looked tired and grumpy today) 2 - Travis 3 - Tronstad 4 - Garrett with significant gaps between first and second, then second and third.
-
How many of our current central midfielders do you think are better than Travis? Wharton Travis Tronstad Garrett Give me a 1 - 4, with 1 being Wharton.
-
Of course they get chance, the original post literally says “currently I don’t think…”. I standby that. He could well prove me wrong but at 17:56 on 2nd September 2023 I don’t look at Moran and think we’ve got a really good player on our hands.
-
The same can’t be applied to Tom Cannon, he’s played at this level and been successful. Telalovic has never played at anywhere near this standard and the Championship is an especially hard league to adjust to.
-
Lewis Travis has played 180 games for the club over 5 years. I know exactly what he’s about. He’s combative, a good tackler, good stamina and seems to want to learn. I hadn’t seen Moran play before he played for us and whilst he’s got a good reputation at Brighton and in Ireland, based on the two games I have seen him play for us I’m so far not impressed as I’ve explained above.
-
I’ve seen him play one game against Harrogate Town and look good. But that’s of no real test and frankly the minimum expectation is play well. I’ve just watched him play for 90 minutes today and he didn’t look impressive. We’ll see, he has a good reputation in Ireland, but from what I’ve seen so far I have doubts.
-
Have you watched him? From what I see he’s got a decent record in the German equivalent of our league two. What makes you think he’s anywhere near up to standard? How many would Gallagher score in the Regionalliga? More than 21 is my guess.
-
I’d have posted the same after Watford. I’ve waited until after the transfer window to make an assessment and that’s my assessment. Seems bonkers to me that people have any hope whatsoever for the new striker, from what I can see he has a decent record in the German equivalent of League Two. My eyes tell me if there was a POTY awarded right now Travis may well win it. We’ve got lots of problems and Travis isn’t high up the list.

Up to date list of players which I don’t think are currently good enough and/or have questions about: Pears S. Wharton Pickering Tronstad Moran Hedges Gallagher Dolan Leonard Bloxham Garrett Gamble Gilsnan Sigurdsson Ennis Hill Telalovic That’s our issue.

We won't go down over a 5-10 losses that could have been draws.

I'm ignoring what I think JDT will do and instead giving the team that I'd pick... Leo the Brave Carter Hyam Wharton JRC Travis Wharton Tronstad Brittain Szmodics Ennis 3-5-1-1 with inverted wing backs. Call me Pep.

I think I've seen a prototype knocking around - @Herbie6590 will have it if I haven't imagined it. We always over order a little, so there might be a couple left over if you want to wait until they're delivered. But those are first come first served etc. -
Wow - I don't think we've ever used this graphic before?!
-
Hate to sound all Mercery, but I couldn’t believe Hull where 3/1 today.
-
I’d go totally bonkers at this point because I really don’t rate any of our wingers. Might be a bit too Pep, but what about… Pears (haven’t seen Leo yet) JRC Carter Hyam Pickering Travis Tronstad Wharton Buckley Szmodics Ennis

We can set you up a private sub section on here if you’d rather.

Leopold Wahlstedt. About Damn Time.

Can someone do a poll for how many fuck ups Pears will make before JDT puts him back on the bench? -

I admire the optimism, Eddie. Myself, @K-Hod and the rest of the mod team will make sure this thread stays on topic. -

Adam’s just sort of wandering about, looking half arsed… the ball seems to be wherever he is, he wins it, takes it past one or two and passes it forward. It’s such a gift. -

We all know this but I’m repeating to anyway. Between Dolan, Markanday and Leonard there isn’t any physical threat. No trouble for a defence the size of this WBA one. -
I can’t be arsed writing all my thoughts after watching the Waggott interviews today as I’ll only wind myself up even further. But Steve, you mentioned on your BBC Lancs interview reading “the boards”. I’ll assume that’s this one, so here’s a message to you: I’m sure you’re working really hard and feel like you’re doing good work for your bosses. They’ve obviously put challenges in front of you. The way you’ve reacted to those challenges, the decisions you’ve made, the standards which you are setting are - in my humble opinion - nowhere near good enough. You have now put on record the expectation is to avoid relegation from the second tier. Success is judged “in different ways”. Disheartening but not surprising. Jack Walker and later, John Williams, would have had you out on day one. That said, I hope you can leave this club by achieving some good, encouraging and negotiating the sale of the club to someone with either more ambition or higher standards.
