I make that the fourth player in three years to stop trying once it became apparent they weren’t signing a new deal yet some fans still encourage keeping them in the previous transfer windows. Let’s be absolutely clear: If a player isn’t signing or being offered a new deal when they have 18 months left they MUST be sold.

We couldn’t get anywhere near the money needed for either. “Take a punt” on a 20M pound rated striker? Honestly…
-
Couldn’t agree more. Could well be a loss today.

Agree with @Tyrone Shoelaces , this with Dolan instead of Szmodics.

My flags been nailed to the mast for a long time now and it says: ”There’s no chance of us finishing in the top six and even if we did it would be worthless because we wouldn’t beat third, fourth or fifth. The squad isn’t strong enough but JDT is capable of creating a promotion capable squad.”

3: if we drop him now someone will pay semi-decent money in the transfer window for him

I’ve had plenty of different opinions over time but the only one I can see any sense in nowadays is that 300M really is sod all to them. There’s no other rationale reason for them to keep spending this much money. They seemingly bought the training ground off themselves for 16M because we were struggling during COVID. Most owners would consider Admin, not pay the wages, sell the players. Not Venkys.

v Huddersfield (a) 10/4/23 @ 12.30pm

I’ve seen JRC play absolutely dreadfully at right wing back, central midfield, right wing, left wing and as a number 10. I’m still not entirely sure what position he’s playing but I see no reason to change it, especially to move him somewhere where he’s only ever been crap for us. -

It would have a huge knock on effect for the way we play too. JRCs success is based around the fact that Carter moves over and covers his space. I guess you could say Hyam would do the same, but Carter does it very well. -

Was it a draw? Felt like a loss. Regardless, I said we won’t beat them and we won’t. -

The same reason as last year when they beat us at their place at this stage of the season. They’ve got a midfield that can fight and a striker that only needs one chance. -

And Ayala, and Dack… We won’t beat Coventry, Preston, Burnley, PNE or Millwall. We’ve got statistically the hardest run in, in the league. Needed to beat Birmingham and Huddersfield to have any hope. -

I’ve seen JRC play terribly for Rovers in plenty of positions. The ONLY position where I have any faith in him is where he’s been playing under JDT. I can’t find any reason to play him in some of the positions suggested. Kaminski JRC Carter Hyam Pickering Travis Wharton Hedges Szmodics Brereton Dolan. -
5 minutes walk from the Chinese - although it’s a vegetarian Chinese now. Disaster.
-
Kind of true - Scott lives on the same road as J*B.
-
I can’t see us triggering his one year extension as our highest player. I only see him leaving on a free or signing a 3 year deal on reduced terms.
-
Suspect Dack will go to Sunderland on a free in summer - so we’ll need a number 10 as well.

Hopefully this ends what really is a silly discussion, but to be clear there’s there’s two different conversations here. There’s the first question which was “which of the players are you bumping into regularly?” which I answered. Then a secondary question of “who is telling you these things?”. Obviously, people that you simply bump into on the street aren’t gossiping about the inner workings of the club. They’re examples for question one: players that you see often because they live/socialise locally. Then there are some players (and coaches/scouts/recruitment/medical staff/family members) who will happily tell me (and plenty of others) some more ‘secret’/private/detailed things. I’d rather not going into the specifics of who's in the second group because I wouldn’t want to upset any more personable friendships. However as an example of group one, today I saw Ben Brereton getting his haircut at Form in Clitheroe after training and I’ve just driven past JDT in Whalley.

On the ITK scale I’m a 3/10 at best, there’s plenty more that know much more and are much more reliable. I’ve absolutely no idea on the question!

To be fair Paul is usually knocking around 🫣

The relevance is it’s a very small community where everyone knows everyone. My best friend has the contract for construction work at Brockhall. I appreciate it may sound unusual but it’s quite normal.

Left is Kaminski in a white shirt. Left of Kaminski is Missus Hedges. Next to Kaminski is Ayala. The guy in denim to the right of Ayala is Dolan’s brother.
