  1. Out of interest who are the 2 or 3 others that have corroborated this? I’ve only seen yourself so far.
  2. It’s not about ‘not in my back yard’ it’s about seeing the bigger picture, we cannot afford to piss off our own fans because we’ve already pissed off X thousand that aren’t coming back. There needs to be proper thinking, organising and planning into all decisions… unfortunately, that is often lacking. Here’s what should be done: Send out a poll to existing ST holders to find out if any significant % of them want a safe standing area. If yes, find out where do these people sit? If there is an obvious area where safe standing seems to be preferred, invite all of those ST holders to an open forum at the club to discuss it. Make it worthwhile - put some food on, have the bar open afterwards. Get the CEO in the room and explain that the club has done due diligence and the area where everyone in the room sits seems to be a hot spot for Safe Standing support. Ask for opinion from the room. Those that don’t want safe standing, why? If they where asked to move, how would they feel? Review the feedback and decide on next steps. If there was a significant positive feel in the room, feed that back to all ST holders and ask again if anyone that couldn’t attend has any huge reservations against it. If it still feels positive, trial it. But the club don’t think like this. At best they ask questions in the corporate lounges, at worst they just make changes. Because it’s poor management.
  3. Why is it about the cheapest solution? We’re owned by billionaires and already lose 20M a season… what’s 20.1M? I sit in the Riverside… if you ask people 10 seats to my left and right to stand some will be happy with it, some will accept it, some aren’t fit enough to do it and some won’t renew because of it. The last thing a club in Rovers position should be doing is alienating fans by forcing initiatives on them they don’t want. There’s people around me that have had the same seat for 60 years and you’re suggesting it’s sensible to ask them to stand all game or move seats? Nonsense. There’s only two genuinely sensible solutions, both of which have problems: 1) you create a ‘singing / standing’ section in no1 Blackburn End… on the basis most already stand, the singing culture encourages standing and this is damage limitation 2) you create a new standing area in an unused section of the ground (the Darwen end) but risk splitting up the small vocal support which we do have. I would be tempted to go with Opt 1 as it’s damage limitation.
  4. You’re all lucky that Herbie is involved, I’d make everyone view it like this for at least a week if I had my way…
  5. Mowbray told the players after the Coventry game that he would be leaving at the end of the season. I’m not sure why, but he did. Whether that ties in with Paul Mani’s “he’s already signed to be WBA manager” I’m not sure, but it does mean that thankfully we don’t need to put up with him much longer.
  6. Yep, I agree with everyone else, that would require: Forethought Ambition Football Awareness Money All of which history tells us is not going to happen. I’d be looking far less ambitious and much cheaper.
  7. We’re in a period of mourning whilst we reflect on Rovers playoff chances this season. It’ll change back once the mood brightens up.
  8. We’re in a period of mourning for our promotion chances. We’re in black and white until Mowbray leaves.
  9. In what world do you think there’s a scenario where Rovers have to do anything? They’ve been shite since February, this has been on the horizon for months and months. It’s done.
  10. One last time for those at the back… PLAYOFF HOPES AND ASPIRATIONS WENT WEEKS IF NOT MONTHS AGO!
  11. Just blow the whistle ref. It’s for the best. Please put everyone out of our misery.
  12. Agreed - whoever did that, you’re under review!!
  13. “Things have changed since we got promoted and relegated for 4 seasons straight, the fans need to understand that.”
  14. Wait… what? Of course he does, not least to protect his sons reputation.
  15. If it’s any higher than ‘middle of the road plodder unable to improve teams past mid table’ then yes I’d be surprised.
  16. Regardless I’ll be absolutely delighted when/if Tony signs to be WBA manager. A nice step down for Tony, it might be his level.
  17. Hmm, not sure. I know Chicago Fire where told the fee was 3.5m up front, they offered it and it was accepted. Why would 3.5M be accepted if Bournemouth had offered potentially 6M?
  18. I admire that Paul, when Bruce signs an extension you’re going to get brutalised on here. I’ve learnt my lesson, I said “stinks of WBA” and left it there!!
  19. Strip it right back, ignore the football. In what other professional world can you have the highest budget and not be expected to perform the highest?
  20. We had the highest budget in the history of League 1. It’s not an achievement, it’s expected.
  21. Mate I wanted him sacked after the Charlton game in League 1 where he didn’t play his strongest team because we where already promoted and Wigan lost. If we would have won we would have won the league. His rationale for it was along the lines of “nobody will remember whether we won the league or not”.
  22. I just hope that when this does go wrong again, which it will, because nothing is perfect, people realise that this consistent “support the team” doesn’t help in the bigger picture. Tony Mowbray has successfully managed to distort fans minds into thinking this is as good as it gets, or it is inevitable, or Blackburn Rovers don’t have a right to compete. He has brainwashed you and you’ve allowed it to happen. Do not fall for this shite again.
