  1. don't listen to the radio for Stewart but clearly you have heard on there. Stewart and Atherton know the county game and what it takes to be successful on Test cricket. They faced some of the best bowlers in test cricket in Glenn McGrath, Courtney Walsh, Curtly Ambrose and Allan Donald. Jim, you mention love affair but your answer every time is to ignore/dismiss England coaches and coaches/people with County Championship experience in favour of bringing in overseas coaches/people who know zero about the county game and our players at that level. Same old Jim, the answer is to always employed overseas people
  2. most of the greatest players don't have what people would say in a the best technique like like Smith, Pointing, Tendulkar Kallis, Kohli Cook, Root, Williamson and Lara. But they had or having very successful test career in terms of runs. Cook is correct on Crawley's technique
  3. good for the bookmakers tho. Where were Rovers promotion odds with them before the season started. I just don't see WBA staying in the playoffs. thats my opinion
  4. Jim's answer lets bring in overseas coaches again. Same as England football time did and went nowhere. We need people who understand the county game and can improve players like Duncan Fletcher and Andy Flower who knew the county game despite being from Zimbabwe. Thorpe was in the England coaching set up during Trevor Bayliss time in charge of England. didn't want him out then did you? Stewart is highly respect and knows the county game and the international game. Did Cook or Strauss have the perfect technique but both have successful international careers didn't there? or Atherton and Stewart? anyway Jim, I have my view and you have yours. We won't agree as we very rare do but we have agree to disagree over this
  5. from what I read it appears that Root will remain as captain and get his wish that ECB takes Four day championship more serious. ECB' Tom Harrison says Test Cricket is more important than one day or twenty20 games. So where do we go now? I think its time we look to bring in people like Paul Farbrace, Angus Fraser Alec Stewart and Mike Atherton within the England cricket team in various roles I discussed in previous posts plus splitting the test head coach and one day/twenty20 head coach now. But I deffo wouldn't be bringing in Gary Kirsten or any overseas coach as some have suggested. I would be looking to replace Malan at 3 with Pope. Plus we need to find an opener to partner Crawley. Bowling wise, we have a good decent pace attack and Anderson is good as he always.
  6. Lenihan was my man of the match
  7. Plus he signed a new improve contract recently
  8. Our attacking side of our game as drop in last 3 games but we still pick up 7 points and kept 2 clean sheets. Can't keep expecting Brereton to score every game but others are stepping up like Rothwell.
  9. Rooney seems to know how to managed and set team up defensive. Think he needs to his coaching staff with him. Another candidate is Duncan Ferguson. Could he step up now? Possibly. But Everton owner has spent millions after millions there but not really improve much. He needs to come up with proper football management structure and appoint the correct people in their roles
  10. Benitez is sacked according to media reports
  11. But you aren't the one watching it each and every game are you? They are fully entitled to their opinions. After 10 years of watching the same type of football does get boring.
  12. well SSN are reporting that Everton board are having a board meeting tonight to discuss his future
  13. plenty of Everton fans had concerns well before his appointment was confirmed
  14. I totally agree with your comments about them not being attractive, the ground hasn't been improved since being in PL, The football is very boring. I spoke to several Burnley fans in the pub over Christmas and New Year period and they don't enjoy watching their team play or the same style is getting boring now. some of them would like a change of manager but they aren't unsure if they would get better manager/head coach there. Few names were mentioned to me. I also read that if Burnley go down or payments aren't made to previous owner Garlick, he can rebuy the club
  15. well done to Villa. Since Coutinho has come on he has spark them into life.
  16. a good appointment and someone who the fans can get behind can create that spark from day 1. Benitez hasn't and can't cos of his Liverpool connects there yesterday man. Fans get bored of him very quickly and plenty did at Everton
  17. Everton fans and players need a spark from someone. They have spent loads of money under this owners but no better off IMO. I do wonder what his plan is and would he make another change
  18. none of our attacking players have a good game. It was of case of stay tight and give them nothing in terms of clear cut chances. I would like to think we can throw caution to the wind if we needed to but all season we have very rarely needed to. I prefer us to play counter attacking and been solid at the back with this squad as it suits us
  19. it was one game. It felt a strange game with no fans in the stadium and we couldn't get our attacking game going. he will have more contacts in Europe than we had before. Plus people within different countries he will know.
  20. Burnley need signings and quick. Don't know what they are waiting for. It is very clear they need at least 4 signings to stay up
  21. Everton's fans voiced their opinions on Benitez and his future. They want him. I think they need someone who will ignite the fans passion and belief, in my opinion that man is Wayne Rooney. Doing very well at Derby despite all the trouble there
  22. I'm not surprise that WBA lost at QPR and I do think they won't make the playoffs. I thought Forest and Boro would win today. Expect both in the playoffs.
  23. Mowbray's post match interview Rich Sharpe's post match thoughts after his stint as commentator on Radio Lancs
  24. Rovers have kept 7 clean sheets in the last 8 league games. Thats is outstanding Lenihan was my man of the match and here are his stats from the game via Rovers chat
  25. Interesting that the other forward we are after is from Europe and available on loan. It seems that Park is using his scouting knowledge and expertise to find these players. surprise we are after another forward considering the options we already have there.
