  1. sadly Kean has nothing to do with this. Hick and Ramprakash batting technique werent anything surprise and still have massive issues. Hick was fantastic against Fast medium pacers and flat wickets but awful when it started swinging or pitch had some pace and bounce in it. There is no perfect batting style or technique. Look at Some of the best players in the last 25 years like Ricky Pointing or Alistair Cook or Brian Lara or Sachin Tendulkar or Jacques Kallis. None of them had the perfect batting technique but all produce plenty of runs for the national team. That's it Jim bring in overseas coach. Why not appoint people like Mike Atherton, Alec Stewart who know test Cricket and county game. Exactly Gav. Another massive overreaction again by Jim which is no surprise is it. Root is one of England's greatest Batsman, Anderson is the best England bowler as his wicket column says. Stokes is the best all rounder since Botham and Broad is world class bowler. If I have to pick England best 11 since I started watching England in 1994/1995. My team would be this :- Atherton, Cook, Vaughan(C), Root, Stewart(wk), Stokes, Flintoff, Swann, Gough, Broad, Anderson. Thorpe, Pietersen, Strauss all unlucky to miss out.
  2. Swansea set to sign former Rovers keeper who is now at MK Dons Andrew Fisher MK Dons confirm Fisher transfer fee agreed | Planet Swans
  3. Rovers interested in Blackpool's Josh Bowler Promotion hopefuls Fulham, Blackburn enter battle for standout Championship star Josh Bowler (teamtalk.com) Where has this rumour come from?
  4. Yes I would ok with him cos everyone has based their opinion on the Wigan away game and forget that he played his part in keeping 3 clean sheets in the two and half games he played i. I am reading your comments and arguments thanks. We got to second in the league with this smaller squad so I feel that 3 signings is about right. in this transfer window. Carter, Butterworth, Pears, Davenport and Dolan have all played their part in getting us second in the league over 22 other teams. Also got to take in consideration upsetting the squad morale and team spirit. Plus you are expect 4 or 5 signings to settle in quickly, be fit enough and have an impact on our season. You were saying that in the summer about who would scored the goals at Rovers this season and some of us told you that the team would step up and perform. and guess what they have. If Mowbray wants to sign Burke then clearly he will have impact for us and has a plan how he would use him. Have owners increase the budget after the Armstrong sale?
  5. and thats got nothing to do with this thread. Lets focus on the Cricket discussion. If you want to disagree with the opinion of 5 ex-pros including 2 former England captains(Michael Atherton and Nasser Hussain) and 2 former Australia captains(Ian Chappell and Ricky Pointing) plus a world class player(Shane Warne) then thats your choice but given that they know it takes to have a successful international test cricket career its hard to disagree with their opinion.
  6. I have mention a right wing back which appears that Zeefulk will sign for us when Work permit is issued. Then a mention a centre midfielder and attacker whether a number 9 type or someone who can wide forward role. I would like to see us make 1 permanent signing whether it be the Centre midfielder or the attacker. not both loans but if the budget will only cover that then fair enough. I don't think we need anymore. Used the players that got us to second in the league.
  7. There is nothing we can do about it but you are finding excuses already. Who knows what will happen. But what we do know is we got to second in the league with this squad cos of the team spirit and sticking together to produce this good first half of the season. But for some reasons you want 6 signings and think they are going to be fit enough, settle quickly and have an impact while ignoring that Butterworth, Carter, Pears, Dolan and Davenport have all played a part in getting us to where we are in this league and part of this squad.
  8. I don't see Nyambe staying past this summer even if we go up. Looking at Mowbray's comments last week its seem like he thinks similar. Which is a shame given that Nyambe has been here for such a long time and is product of our great academy system here. Who to say Burke won't be successful here cos he might play in a system and style that suits him and his game? I have open mind on any signing that Rovers sign and I don't worry about previous clubs experiences or what fans think tbh. You said the same in the summer about who was going to replace goals and the team has set up and performed plus we are doing better this season than last summer. Seems to be more togetherness and team spirit in this squad than last season for some reasons. but by making so many signings who all need to settle quickly and made an impact in the next 3 and half months is very unrealistic. Plus do we have the budget or squad spaces for these 6 signings you want? Plus You keep mention other teams have deeper squads? yet we are ahead of 22 other teams and we got there by having a smaller young squad.
  9. We can only 25 players in the players squad anyway. We have about 4 spots open currently cos 1 spot left open, 2 loans players who Clarkson has gone back to Liverpool and Poveda is injury plus let Maglorie in this window. If Covid or Injuries happen then they happens. We have got to where we have in this league by having younger smaller squad with a great team spirit unlike last season squad which we have more players and did nothing. I would stick with the smaller squad but add 2 or 3 players. Plus Mowbray has actually look like he has enjoyed managing this squad this season compare to last season where he looks disinterested at times.
  10. Covid peak will be done in the next 2 to 3 weeks in the North and the self isolation period is likely to be reduce to 5 days very shortly I believe results in players being more available to play. Injuries will happen and shouldn't be used as excuses as every team will get them. So thats 6 signings you want to make then? what that going to do squad morale and team spirit this squad has got? I would say more damage than good. I feel given that this squad as got to second in the league we need to add 3 players to this squad will be more than enough. Wilder played him upfront last season for Sheffield united. Didn't Nixon had the Pickering signing for us weeks before we did and Mowbray denied the story then we signed a couple of weeks later. I feel Mowbray is playing the media again just like he did with Pickering to get Sheffield United to lower their terms of a potential deal there. I guess he is target but it wouldn't surprise me if we went for Anthony Scully or Player from Europe. Who knows who we are targeting these days. Park and his recruitment team seems to be scouting over all UK and plus some parts of Europe. Plus didn't Nixon have most of our summer signings like Van Hecke and Clarkson
  11. So who in the county championship game are better options? Not many but that's fault of the County Championship game not Crawley. So why not give him a proper run as an opener with a new opener in the test series for the away series in West Indies in March and then home series against New Zealand and South Africa. If he has done enough to impress and been praised by these 5 ex-pros including 2 former England captains and 2 former Australia captains plus a world class player then I will take their opinions
  12. He did the same with Pickering last January if you remember correctly. I think Mowbray is playing the waiting game with Burke as option but trying to get Sheffield United to lower their demands and then maybe do a deal. I think he would the fit the way we play. While he is winger/number 10 so play where Khadra or in the Buckley role. Whether we should sign him I don't enough about him to give an opinion. Have you seen much of him? We can't used Covid-19(which is now like Flu or Cold in most cases) or Injuries as any form excuses. If it happens it happens. Covid outbreak is less likely to happen to the coming weeks and months. Well you were suggestion 5 or 6 January signings early today, have you change that opinion now? Cn I please ask what positions would you like to make January transfer window? Where I have said 3 signings is about right. Did you have that opinion Pears before yesterday game even tho he performed in the 3 games he played in and kept clean sheets in them. on the centre backs I would be happy to play Carter and so we have 5 players for those 3 positions but I would have no problem if going 4-3-3 formation again if we have injures. Happy with wing backs/full backs options if the Dutch players signs. I would like to us sign a centre midfielder and attacker in this January Window.
  13. You got 5 former international cricketers who played alot of test cricket all praising him. Should we ignore them? I will keep Crawley as opener and maybe try Tom Haines from Sussex. I would keep the eye on Warwickshire batsman Robert Yates,
  14. well everyone is their opinion but you have 4 very good former international players plus I have seen comments from Shane Warne all praising Zak Crawley and his technique. if you feel there is better county players who can open the innings please name them
  15. Well we have to see. But if not covid or Injury then he should have been on bench tomorrow
  16. Forest deserves to win this. Cooper got his tactics spot on Arsenal have been awful again.
  17. These will have relegation release clauses in those contracts most likely. Well that's opinion Its no wonder these big teams like Juventus, Barcelona and Real Madrid are in so much debt and wanted this European Super League.
  18. Looks like he is Villa bound
  19. I seen Newcastle signing Ramsey, Botman and a striker before the window shuts. they after Everton full back Digne for 22.5 million plus Sean Longstaff. Did Everton reject that bid?
  20. Kidderminster vs West Ham should be very good cup game
  21. thanks. Would be surprised if Newcastle want him but Burnley losing Wood would definitely end the PL spell. Burnley need signings not selling Wood
  22. In making 77, Crawley notched the highest score by an England opener on this tour and it was only the second time in 18 Test innings since his double hundred against Pakistan that he had passed 30. Former Australia captains Ricky Ponting and Ian Chappell both gave the youngster a massive vote of confidence, with Ponting telling Channel 7: "I like the look of this young man, there's something about him. "He seems to be a little different with his attitude and intent than most of the other English batsman we've seen on trial in this series so far." Chappell, meanwhile, told BBC Test Match Special: "Crawley is the future of England. You would want to go a long way with him before you drop him. You don't want to talk technique with him. You just have to keep his confidence up."
