  1. so does flitty, john. i don't mind fergy being our captain, but i don't think flitty was doing anything bad as captain anyway.....so i don't see any reason to change.
  2. once again we go out of a major competition in controversial circumstances....and i can't believe it has happened to us again. i don't care what anybody says about penalty shoot outs...the fact is that last night, it should never ever have even got to extra time...never mind the shoot out.
  3. i still fail to see how david james was at fault for that first goal? aswell as the second one for that matter!
  4. you said it mate....there are other countrys that have under-performed, just like we have recently, so in that case we have just as much a chance to win it as any other team that are still in the tournament.
  5. not often taht i agree with you chucky but on this occasion i whole heartedly agree.
  6. I'm not convinced he is fully fit. Either that or he doesnt like not being the main man anymore. He did get a fair bit of treatment from the croats tonight, but (like scholes), he showed that tackling isnt his strong point, giving away a couple of free kicks in dangerous areas. Which is why Gerrard is so important to England, he needs to provide that bite in Midfield to allow the others to play. very true steb. it is like any team in that one of the midfielders has got to be right on with the tackling nad toughness which allows the others to do what they do best. BTW.....just noticed your signature
  7. gary neville might be a plump moneky but he is a very very good professional for england and the best right full back we have had since i can remember. his brother, well i would not go as far as saying that he aint fit to wear the shirt, but i do say taht there is better players in the premier league that could do the same job as he. players that are far more disciplined, better ball skills and also a lot better defensively. the centre halves...hmmmmm. well either way they can't win because the croats came at us from wide all the time, prso and his striker partner peeled off wide time and time again...so if the two lads get drawn out of position the get slated bigstyle, where it is the job of each fullback to follow the strikers out wide and let jt and sol patrol the centre of the defense as they did. they could not get through the middle of our defence if we had still been playing tomorrow morning. both goals came from out wide, albeit from free kicks. dfensively the croats did not have a clue of how to break us down.
  8. what did david james do wrong exactly?? what did he do that cost us a goal? their first should have been dis-allowed for a push in the back on ashley cole, jamesy then made a very good reaction save only for the defense to be unable to clear in time. then the second one was a ball to the back post where goal keepers should never get drawn to (which he did not) bad defending as the croat had a free header adn tucked it in as close as can be to that far post. so in saying that david james only got a 5.5 performance in your opinion, i can only think that this was because he did not have that much to do and made the saves that he should have done. gary neville is nothing short of brilliant for england!!
  9. surely not that aussie beer mate? xxxx is nothing more than wee wee from queensland....
  10. i shall be watching at home with matilda, my british bulldog
  11. ala de pedro aswell mate. that signing was done months and months ago because it simply does not happen that we can sign a player that quickly.
  12. if supposedly leeds are ready to let him go for afree....then what happens to that 4 million quid taht we were told was available to spend....goes towards paying off club debts? goes towards the january transfer budget? or even towards next seasons transfer kitty? if we can get matteo then i feel we don't need any more.
  13. i am interested to hear what javier actually thinks about this move?? he turned down 7 clubs from his homeland to come and play for rovers in the premiership....well me thinks he might be getting more tahn what he was being offered back home. anyway, hopefully he can be a sensation for us on the left side. technically, most of the europeans are very very good and i hope that this will be the case as well as hoping that he has desire.
  14. AM STILLT RYING TO FIGURE THAT ONE OUT TASHOR.... oR IS IT BEFACAUES I AM STIL ALL FOSTERED AT THE MOMENT? NOT5 SURE...BUT ANYWAY, DEPEDROW...COMKE ONAD//// CAN'T WIAT TO SEE YOU IN A BLUE AND WEHITE SHIRT
  15. My thoughts exactly. Would prefer someone younger but with the limited budget getting someone of this quality is an excellent move. To cap it off I would really like Souness to 'do another Stead' and pick up a left midfielder on the cheap from the lower divisions. With de pedro also on the books there won't be so much pressure on the player and not so much risk if the player doesn't come good. Ideally we'd find the successor to de Pedro or at least a capable squad player capable of playing on the left - unlike Reid. hang on chaps. most people on here have never seen him play in a blue and white halved shirt before...so lets give the guy a chance. secondly most people on here have never seen mgp play either...so again, you can't prefer to have somebody that you may not have ever seen play football over somebody that you may not have ever seen football. am i alone in thinking that we are quite good at judging football players...even before a ball has been kicked in anger.
  16. very good tune that is. i shall be singing that!
  17. well i shall tell you this for nothing...take either of that lot and put them on their own...no trouble at all, as they would not dream of it. stick them with a bunch of other lads that have been on the pop all day and they get brave as they know they have back up..... btw...i have a day off work tomorrow and i shall be hammered before the game kicks-off
  18. although i don't want to see flitty get sold...i hve to agree revidge in that we would not really lose anything if we got rid of flitty and brought in nicky butt. but....rather than sell flitty i would look at selling steven reid and some other fringe players to hopefully get a few million for them and try and get nicky to come here...cracking signing he would be no matter what people think. oh and btw....we don't want newcastle or anyone else for that matter to try adn buy lucas
  19. well if matteo does decide to join rovers then taht will be it for the summer...no more spending as we have all we need.
  20. it is rather wrrying that we are getting mixed messages like this. no money to spend....well what happened to the dosh that we were suposedly bidding for perdresen with? either we really don't have any money and thought lets make a really cheaky bid for him and see if it gets accepted or the rovers really are not prepared to pay more money for him. if the latter is the case then i think it is rather poor because 2.5m in todays market is peanuts. it is probably a result of the transfers that we payed when kidd and woy were in charge dailly, davies, ward, blake etc etc....highly inflated transfer fees because other clubs knew that we had money to spend in a desperate bid to stave off relegation, which unfortunately did not work. anyway, the point i am trying to make is that rovers are probably so guarded against paying them kinda transfer fees after the events in recent years...grabbi aswell fo0r that matter. whatever the reason it is not vvery confidence building for the new season, at a stage when we have not even had a ball kicked in anger for pre-season training.
  21. yes Amo the bloke a two legged tortoise with piles and ingrowing toe nails could outrun even if it gave him a 100 metre head start. you say in another post that you watch most games. now i presume that this is on tv because as you say...you are in portugal?? how many games have you NOT seen? as since he has been back in the side and free of injury, amo has been very good. nobody can deny that.
  22. i agree gav. the boys at work are quite happy with the possible signing of matteo. what a good signing he would be.
