My fear is that with each passing year & more supporters packing it in, the latter group forms an increasing percentage of the (dwindling) matchday attendance.

We do this purely for the love (& an occasional piece of free merch..!) but to echo @J*B’s point - our corporate structure is more robust than the one at Ewood!!

I’m not talking about meetings…running a company isn’t about meetings. I’m talking about effective corporate governance. Checks & balances in the way things are done. Without a proper organisational structure, with key departments headed by board directors who are willing and able to challenge each other openly & honestly, what you end up with is the sort of shambolic processes & outcomes we see at Ewood on a regular basis. Rovers is a dictatorship where Suhail’s will is carried out unchallenged. He isn’t even the CEO. It isn’t healthy, it isn’t best practice, but it explains a lot about why we have such a high turnover of staff & we see bizarre operational decisions being made.

I have quite a bit of Castore golf & cricket gear & I really like it. I only buy from their outlet as their head up retail prices are ridiculously high. I go into the shop in Meadowhall & then wait for it to come into the online sales to buy 😉 However, I know many Villa fans who were very unhappy with their kits, quality & design wise. Perhaps it’s different folks who design/manufacture their football stuff? Castore have the licence to produce Umbro now so I’d expect us to be badged Umbro but I’m guessing they are all made in the same factory. Umbro historically was a great brand for Rovers until they started dicking about with not reversing the halves. They were the first to do that & for that alone I will never forgive them…😆

I think a finance director is possibly quite useful, as would be a sales & marketing director plus a chief operating officer. That way you don’t have concentration of powers, you have a proper champion/challenge in the boardroom with proper checks & balances. We have none of those things.

I can only speak for myself but I have over the last 10 years especially distanced myself from the club incrementally. From being a Season ticket holder (whilst living in London I would add…), plus c.10 away games per season & about £250 club shop spend each year; is now about 4 home games, 3 or 4 away games & zero spend in club shop. In that time a whole new generation of Rovers support has emerged that knows nothing other than the Venky’s, so the proportion of older fans who know what is possible & is angry/frustrated is dwindling each season. I now fear when reading other sites that I am in the minority in wanting change but TBH I’m now so weary with it, I wont do anything beyond rant on podcasts & radio programmes when given a chance. I fear I am numb to it as a coping strategy.

Umbro via Castore next season apparently.

All things can usually be made…the challenge is the minimum order to make the price point competitive. We couldn’t use that badge though… e.g. our 50’s retro shirts - if we could have sold say 500, the price point would have fallen significantly. We take pre-orders to test the market, but to take pre-orders you still have to take a punt on the unit price. With the 50’s shirts I got it just about perfect (there’s only 1 left…in Medium if anyone is interested 😉) but if I hadn’t, it would have been a loss leader. I have some ideas for future products using the same supplier & I hope to get some samples made up to test the water. The next shirt I’d like to do is the “Bob Crompton” - halves on different side, lighter blue, grandad collar…so if that appears in the Roverstore soon, we know they read this thread 😆
