  1. Hang on, you coined the legendary phrase that they never refuse to sign a cheque?
  2. Credit where it's due, their CH on loan from City Egan-Riley looked some player yesterday. Those diags he was pinging to both wingers in the first half were top quality and he never once got flustered with our increasingly desperate 'Alamo' balls late on.
  3. Very well said Simon. A nicer person you couldn't wish to meet and Rovers through and through.
  4. Glad you pointed this out, we were second to everything today and at least a yard behind their lot all over the pitch. When they had the ball they found space and moved forward, when we got it we found no space, were laboured and went backwards. It was a poor poor performance and, for me, we lost to the team that wanted it more and that's unacceptable. And that 'cameo' from John Buckley at the end? Jesus wept.
  5. Yeah totally agree, ran into ACD's space when he should have gone more central for the through ball. He made up for it with the mighty header before the goal though. These lads continue to surpass all my expectations though, so resolute and they leave everything out on the pitch, it's great to see. That back 4 were magnificent today, I thought Brittain looked a proper player and I've never really been a fan of his.
  6. Desperate for fresh legs on there, they look knackered. Good move to take Leonard off, nothing was sticking up there, need more presence.
  7. Flat performance, terrible result. Too many of our key players dialling one in today with Beck, Gueye and Cantwell particularly poor.
  8. Enjoyable evening at Hillsbrough last night, can't beat these 1-0 wins. I was worried for a time that we wouldn't hold out but I relaxed a lot more when they brought Des Lynam on. What a shocker he was.
  9. Having been at the KCOM this afternoon I cannot downplay how bad those conditions were today, it was genuinely horrendous. So, with that in mind, to pull up the quality of football today is churlish in the extreme. Having said that, the play leading up to the goal was as good a quality as any build up this season - you really cannot underestimate that level of play in those conditions. It certainly wasn't easy on the eye but the commitment to the cause of all these lads lately is incredible. A couple of performances to note, firstly Pears. A couple of crucial saves in the first half got us in ahead and I never felt they were scoring past him today. Baker was steady and complemented Tronstad perfectly. He filled the gaps, made tackles in key areas and on the one occasion he got forward was unlucky to see his shot blocked. Ohashi may have fluffed his chance in the 2nd half but by Christ he grafts. You can't help but take to the lad. Brittain I have been critical of in the past but he is thriving at the minute - long may it continue. Beck will be some player. Quick, tenacious with a nasty streak but such a talent. He relished the battle today. Finally Big Mak. Yes he only had 15 minutes but it would've been easy for him to hide. He didn't, he won a couple of balls into our box and was an outlet for the long balls out late on, showing a decent touch on a couple of occasions. The lad isn't ever going to be good enough, let's be honest but he's wholehearted and knows his role in seeing games out. Finally, the manager. Eustace is working miracles with what he has, I honestly thought we were relegation fodder based on the lack of backing he has had but he seems to relish this challenge. If he gets any backing in January (a striker) we have a real chance this season.
  10. Can I get a ticket for this tomorrow? My daughter has just this minute asked if she can join me and her brother for the game.
  11. And possibly due to one of the previous No 6s, good old J-Lo. Now there's a lopsided comparison.
  12. Excellent performance today and the first 2 goals were as good as any you will see at any level. Good to see us 'at it' from the first whistle and we really surprised Cardiff with that high tempo approach. Played well with and without the ball and, JRC brain freeze apart, managed the game very well. Individually Pears was very good, Ohashi showed a work rate to be admired and actually looked quick at times. The much maligned Hedges upped his game (as he needed to) but Travis was the standout. All over the pitch, making tackles, good shithousery and a worldwide of a pass for the 2nd. Super stuff. So, we've popped a cork in the leak after some poor results and the table can be looked at normally rather than through our fingers. Shame we have a shitty international break really.
  13. Really. Did you have to?
  14. Bloody good read that, bravo.
  15. Careful.....the pitchforks will be out for you
  16. I'm still trying to come to terms with Gueye's miss. I think Archimedes would struggle to explain the angle the ball came off his head
  17. I really want to see a comprehensive analysis of how Gueye contrived to miss that sitter as he did. It would make for great punditry.
  18. I mean Batth was put in trouble by Hyam there but he moved at the speed of coastal erosion to recover.
  19. A few on here called this Stoke keeper as a good un last season. Sadly he's proving them right tonight.
  20. It's just incredibly sad isn't it?
  21. Got to score when we're this much on top
  22. Has anyone seen Gueye and Michelle Obama in the same room????
  23. I'd love to know what, for instance, Cantwell honestly thinks of Gueye as a player. I bet it would be a scathing response.
