  1. We’ll see. I think he might do ok back in Scandinavia, but I’m not convinced he’ll get another chance on these shores. He was undoubtedly more sinned against than sinner, but you are right to say that he was stubborn, and I firmly believe he was cut a great deal of slack because of his persona.
  2. That is where I disagree. i think we would’ve gone down had Tomasson stayed. Eustace’s results haven’t been great, but they are better than Tomasson’s had been over a sustained period. We were cannon fodder and it’s pretty obvious that he had lost the dressing room. We haven’t won enough games to get clear under Eustace, but he has made us harder to beat. Hopefully, that will be enough come May.
  3. What is evident is that you really don’t like Eustace and haven’t got over JDT leaving. Look at the results for a sustained period leading up to JDT’s departure. They were truly shocking and we looked like relegation on a stick. We couldn’t defend to save our lives - one of the worst defensive records in the league. We didn’t get any new manager bounce, but compare that to Millwall who did, but are now really struggling again. We are fighting and grinding out results, (Sunderland excepted), which is our realistic path to safety. The job is far from done, but we look far more likely to stay up now than we did just before JDT left.
  4. Whereas in cricket, a tie is also a possible result, (often confused with a draw). Anyway, let’s hope for some rare home cheer tomorrow, rather than ‘after the lord mayor’s show’.
  5. I don’t think he’s talking about the bigger picture, (ie the ownership), on this occasion. He’s basically asking for a bit of patience with the recovery of fortunes on the pitch, and I agree with him. The stats in the article are telling, particularly the ones before his arrival, and there have been small steps in the right direction even before Monday. If he keeps us up he’s done his job. Then we would have to see what happens during the Summer, (very low expectations).
  6. One swallow doesn’t make a summer, but some of the criticism has been OTT and very premature.
  7. What a very nice surprise after changing ends at Blackpool North 😊
  8. Rovers potential new Head Coach list : Essential requirements - Must be currently unemployed.
  9. And even in the seasons where we struggled there was always a feeling of hope for the future.
  10. Fair enough, but I'm afraid I've now gone past that stage and simply cannot see any hope unless/until these owners go. It's not just about not being in the Premier League, either. I was there in the 80's, but in those days we were owned and run by people who cared about the club and it's supporters. This is just shit, on and off the pitch. It's futile.
  11. That's a given, but winning has become very rare, and miserable journeys home have become the norm. Compare how a matchday feels now to, let's say the mid noughties. Sitting in a half empty stadium, generally devoid of atmosphere, with the lowest of expectations. This isn't Blackburn Rovers. It's a parasite pretending to be it's host.
  12. I think, in the main, the people still attending are those who are prepared to put up with it due to loyalty to the club, or force of habit. There is certainly very little stomach for a fight, and many of the people who protested in the early days of Venkys have simply stopped attending. Not attending is the only real ongoing form of protest. If we go down and Venkys are still here next season, the attendances will be pathetic.
  13. He’s certainly one of them, but it all comes back to the owners, (who put him there). Look at the “calibre” of his predecessors. A succession of hired goons , and then there is the ‘real’ CEO, Suhail Pasha.
  14. There may be a ‘fan takeover’ of a less cordial nature if things go completely pear shaped prior to the final home game.
  15. That is exactly what I meant by "those are the type of wins that get you promoted". They have followed up a 6 - 0 home thrashing with an ugly 1 - 0 away win. They are top of the league for a reason. We are where we are for a reason, (and I agree re - the squad).
  16. A good win for Sunderland yesterday, and another defeat for us, (yes, we did okay but it's just another defeat). Not confident and hoping for more favours from other teams.
  17. Those are the type of wins that get you promoted. I only saw the second half, but we were definitely a bit unlucky not to take a point from that game, but them's the breaks when you're down the bottom. Re - the save from Szmodicz, yes the keeper got a bit lucky, but you make your own luck.
  18. Close game, you get the breaks when you’re near the top and vice versa when you’re in our position.
  19. Half my job cancelled today, so I can watch the second half on the box. Not sure whether that’s a good thing or not 😂🙏
  20. Nail on the head. I was a fan of JDT, and he was more sinned against than sinner, but certainly not worthy of sainthood.
  21. Yes, a bloke more anonymous than Coldplay's drummer.
