Mowbray has said before he doesn't like two left footers at centre half,if it had been Williams out then he probably would have gone for Wharton. We will just have to hope that it isn't too soon for Ayala, be a disaster if he got injured today through not being fully fit in first place -
Brewster a different type of player to Jota and Jota further along in his development.Jota can play all across the front 3 where as Brewster a Centre forward. The debate isn't wether Jota is a better player than Brewster anyway,I just don't agree with your belief that Brewster gonna be nothing more than a journey man
-
Well the best manager in the world saw fit to insist on a buy back clause before agreeing to sell him that's good enough for me to suggest he will have far better career than being a journey man
-
Brewster isn't worth 23 million yet but will be he is quality.Liverpool have insisted on a buy back clause, shows they rate him .Scored 11 goals in 22 matches In his debut season for Swansea in this division. Not sure if you have seen him play much to describe him as a journeyman in waiting? He will play for England
-
Charlie Austin in talks with Derby. Jota is now a free agent after his contract was mutually terminated at Villa
-
Why did Brentford leave out Raya then? They said his head wasn't right after interest from Arsenal. Sam Johnstone came from United reserves
-
Grayson has been out for a year with a serious injury that has to be taken into consideration when rating his performance today.Barnes looked very good
-
He expects us to make loads of signings on one hand on the other hand we are in deep trouble and need to make 10-20 Million in savings through sales and cutting the wage budget
-
You sound like a broken record. As has been said the manager has had enough money to sort out centre half ,left back and the goalkeeper situation in the last 3 years but he decided to spend the money he was given on Brereton, Gallagher and a raft of midfield players. How are we being prepped for only loans? The manager has been open and said he doesn't have enough money left in the budget to cover all the areas we need covering so we will have to use the loan market. You have a point on how long it takes us to do deals ,it is frustrating and if someone commits to owning a football club then they should be high up in their priorities.I will say though that this summer tho the club have been right in waiting it out and trying to get the best deals they can. Would you have preferred if the club panicked and brought in say Naby Sarr (a player who got relegated last season and looks like he will be involved in another relegation battle with his new club) instead of waiting it out and bringing in Ayala who is a much better player? Imo this summer the loan route is the correct way to go with the rest of our signings when we don't have enough money to bring in the standard required at the level we want to be at on permanent deals. I also disagree with you totally that the fact fans are looking unlikely to be able to return to stadiums this season shouldn't affect our budget.Nearly every other club in the division has funded their transfers this window by selling players but yet here we are the manager in 3 year hasn't had to sell a single player he wanted to keep. So far this summer you have stated quite confidently that we wouldn't sign a goalkeeper for a fee,we did.We wouldn't bring anyone decent in at centre half and the Kipre bid was an elaborate plan to fool us stupid fans.Only 2 week ago you put down the fact Evans was out stating your belief that he was on the verge of joining Stoke despite the fact absolutely nothing strange with Evans being out he has been out with some sort of fitness issue in the majority of his time here. The left back situation needs sorting out and we need another couple of signings but it does not matter if these players are loans if they are a higher standard of player that we can afford at this present time in my opinion.Last week you said all you cared about was promotion nothing else so no point signing permanent deals if we know they ain't the standard required.Might as well have kept Smallwood, Samuel etc if we are just going to bring in sub standard players on permanents, the money isn't there no tricks by anyone the manager has said as much.
-
We have hardly any money to spend though, another midfielder would be nice but what sort of player are we going to be able to bring in if our budget is as small as the club are letting on.I just don't see the point of bringing in another midfield player If he isn't better than what we already have. Sub goalkeeper and first team left back should be where our money is spent
-
Mowbray said he was a long term target
-
He wanted 2 centre backs on the provision Williams was leaving tho?Now he looks like staying I doubt we will bring in another centre back. Yeah in an ideal world we would have the money to strengthen another couple of areas but money is clearly tight,we ain't going to get quality in in every position we could do with cover. Imo no point signing squad fillers who ain't going to be promotion quality. We should spend what little we have on trying to improve the first 11 (left back) and a sub goalkeeper. Look to the youth Buckley, Davenport etc to cover when we have injuries to the likes of Holtby and Johnson.Still have Evans to come back and Dack who can play as one of the 3 in midfield if need be
-
Premier league clubs can still buy from EFL teams so like I say an injury too an attacker could see Armstrong getting interest from premier League teams.
-
The domestic window running from the 5th to the 16th is going to be a nervy time if any prem league strikers get injured as prem clubs can't buy or loan from eachother can only buy from EFL so Armstrong would have to come into their thinking https://www.skysports.com/football/news/11095/12028475/transfer-window-deadline-day-key-dates-and-times-for-summer-2020
-
Barry Douglas a top left back at this level but if he is the left back we bring in then Bell will still end up playing a lot of games,Douglas gets injured an awful lot
-
It was a dig when he had a decent game you just wanted to dig at him.If you don't like what I say put me on ignore.I won't be winding my neck in if I see a petty post like the one you made Apologies I have read your posts since and you give credit to Brereton, I will wind my neck in.Without doubt his best game in a rovers shirt fingers crossed he can add a few goals to his game
-
Brereton has played well was involved in all 3 goals.Pretty pathetic digging a player out when we are 3-0 up and said player is playing well 7 million signing or not
-
Brereton had played well.Dolan looking good and Rothwell has been quality
-
Ah come off it no way is that the reason
-
I have not seen enough to form an opinion of Whitehead. But I really think Buckley will prove you wrong. You can see in the matches he is growing in confidence, always asking for the ball. His assist for Arma was worth the tenner alone for ifollow last week imo

Season Tickets 2020-21
islander200 replied to Scotland1's topic in Blackburn Rovers Fans Messageboard
Well we bid 900 grand for Kipre as I do believe that bid was genuine not a ploy to fool us fans , I'm not claiming we are spending fortunes but we would have had to commit a nice few quid to get Ayala here, I don't believe a player of his quality at this level wouldn't have had other offers. We will get at least two more in,they may be loans but they cost aswell.Preston have done nothing and according to their chairman are not likely too. You make a valid point about a group of our own players being in the same boat so we need to find the money to offer these guys new contracts aswell. -
Season Tickets 2020-21
islander200 replied to Scotland1's topic in Blackburn Rovers Fans Messageboard
Preston haven't bought anyone this window and Risdale said no incomings.Their best player Pearson is also out of contract end of the season and doesn't look like he will be signing a new contract. Giving people the option of a refund on the season tickets is the right thing to do but WE are all on the transfer thread demanding money to be spent on signings aswell. Waggot hasn't handled the ticket situation well but at least we are spending some money and trying to improve the team to sustain a promotion challenge -
Started watching Raised by Wolves last night, first episode ok 2nd was better
-
He does need to start scoring goals no doubt but at least his progressive runs are now leading to either goals or chances, he might not get the assist but his run played a major part in Armstrong's second I know only against Wycomb but I do think he is getting better with each game, he is far off looking a 7 million buy but iv been encouraged with what iv seen from him this season

What are you trying to argue here that the owners don't give a crap about us?I think that obvious to most. They don't care, we are just one of a number of businesses that they have. At the same time I can't understand why you expected us to go on a spending spree this summer? The reality is the club has hardly any income so it isn't a case of our incomings being covered by the outgoings. We have hardly any income coming into the club, other clubs in this division who have done any significant business have sold players to fund it. You bang on about promotion being the only thing that matters yet you are dead against the loan market? Seemingly wanting us to buy permanent squad fillers to replace Smallwood,Hart, Samuel etc instead of using what little money we have to improve the first 11. You don't take into account our youth and their development as your posts read like you are nearly crying when it turns out we were never interested in players like Naby Sarr who got relegated last season. On one hand you moan about Mowbray and the club's terrible recruitment but on the other readily accept Venkys are putting in the minimum and the manager's hands are tied by having to get the deals signed off in India. They have spent money, we are in debt, have already had a transfer ban for overspending.Just think it's totally unrealistic to expect us to be splashing the cash in the middle of a Global pandemic where a lot of people's jobs are at risk.Id rather the cleaners,Stewards, tea lady etc etc etc kept their jobs rather than us spending a bit of money on journeymen to pad out the squad. IL add the manager has been backed last 3 years there can be no arguments with that.Even you can't argue with that. One sale for 3 million in 3 years. In that time he has brought a lot of players to the club and a lot of players got new contracts,he has been backed. You can't argue with that the evidence is there for all to see
