It probably looks like I'm defending him,but isn't it common knowledge that Mowbray is interested in Freeman? At no point has Nixon said we will sign Freeman,Brererton or Bauer. He tweeted yesterday bids in for all 3 which is plausible we have been linked with all 3 by various media outlets, and Mowbray confirmed at the weekend target names had got out.
-
There has been absolutely nothing to suggest he doesn't want to leave now. I'm sure any 19 year old would be shocked to find out on deadline day that his club were looking to sell him. Media reporting it's down to the two clubs not being able to agree terms. By now Mowbray and the club should know wether the player would be open to joining or not.I doubt very much Mowbray would have spent the last week In negotiations if the player wasn't keen.

Nixon tweeting that the Freeman deal isn't looking likely, QPR wanting to keep him
-
It was said that when the bid was first put in that Brereton was shocked about it. In fairness if we are doing things correctly then I presume the club would know by now if the player is open to the move or not.I presume he is otherwise a complete waste of time negotiating with Forest over him since at least deadline day
-
It's not being reported as a loan with a view. Its being reported as a loan to buy, we will be obligated to complete the deal once the window opens
-
Because he isn't going to play for Forest, how will he up his value if he isn't playing and why would Forest pay him a wage when they can get the deal done now for a price they won't better if he is not involved in their plans for the next 4 months ? It could also be that they have someone lined up to come in on loan and waiting for Brereton to depart. A loan with a view I couldn't understand, but this is just like a normal transfer, the selling team just has to wait till Jan 1st for payment
-
It's not going to be a loan with a view though.People keep saying this. It's an agreed deal,we will be obligated to complete the deal come January 1st. It's a loan with an obligation to buy, a permanent transfer in all but name as the permanent window has shut. A loan with a view means either or both party's can pull out of the deal or change the terms of the deal.

I think we will get Brereton, Forest clearly want to sell and now the player is aware that Forest don't want him and he won't be playing then surely he will also want to move on. Forest are probably hoping the longer they leave it to be sensible about a fee the more likely we are to get desperate and pay a little more. I think Freeman is the most unlikely even if QPR do decide to sell if Boro are interested they would probably pay higher wages than us .

Yes then he said Venkys had given Mowbray extra cash . I'm not saying I believe Nixon or not just passing on what's being said (altho it does look like we have money)
-
Nixon adamant that we have the funds to do both Brereton and Freeman, he is still sticking with the Mowbray got extra funds line
-
Yeah but to be fair it's common knowledge now that Mowbray is keen on the 3 of them. In fairness I'm quite shocked that we are reportedly willing to spend 8 on Brereton and then another 4 or 5 on Freeman.I thought maybe 1 big money signing but never 2. I want Iess talk and more action now though, realistically any new signing won't be involved Wednesday or Saturday.Be nice to get a couple in this week though give them chance to bed in
-
Yeah would be an excellent window if we were to get all 3.They won't be loans with a view though...they will be binding,so if the player doesn't perform we are still committed to buy,but on the other hand if the player does brilliantly the price will already be set in stone and the selling club can't change their minds
-
He said the sticking point for Brereton is the clauses that Forest want put in.Freeman we have a bid in,McLaren doesn't want to lose him but others at the club could be open to cashing in.He said Charlton are currently asking for too much
-
Nixon saying Brereton,Freeman and Bauer are the 3 we have bids in for,all becoming permanent on Jan 1st.

Maddison has been available for 2.5 million since the end of last season. Nobody has taken him so you would have to start wondering if something is wrong with him. If we were only spending 8 million on Brereton and not bringing anyone else in to improve the weaknesses in our squad then I would be left scratching my head and disappointed. But Mowbray has said we are in talks over 3 players so I don't expect Brereton to be the only signing made.
-
Nobody is disputing it's a gamble I mean 8 million on any 19 year old would be. But in today's market then even if Brereton is only average if he joins and we choose to move him on in a couple of years time we would still probably recoup most of what we paid out for him.
-
Stuart it's only this season he hasn't been starting, Karanka doesn't fancy him doesn't make him a bad player does it? Karanka wasn't a fan of Rhodes either a player I know you rate. On would I expect him to come in and start banging them in or be our undisputed no 1 striker from the get go?No but I think he has great potential and would eventually be. Mowbray has spoken about it taking 3 or 4 Windows to get a squad together capable of putting in a sustained challenge for promotion,Brereton is being brought in with one eye on the future. We have been told by the club and Mowbray that they are hoping to bring 3 or 4 in, if that's the case then i'l be happy and excited with the Brereton signing. If we only brought Brereton in for 8 million and nobody else then I would be scratching my head as i would feel the money would have been better used spread out
-
Maybe not initially but eventually yes.Mowbray has identified Brereton as the player he wants, am happy to back Mowbray on that. Not dismissing that 8 million would be a hefty fee and it could be spent spread out on other areas but Mowbray has already said other players are being targetted, I don't believe it will be Brereton and nobody else brought in
-
You haven't seen him play a full match. You are watching video highlights you can't come to the conclusion he isn't a centre forward off that. He is 19 years old has played 57 matches and been involved in 16 goals. That is not bad going. He plays as a C.F for England. The manager has obviously chosen Brereton as the one he wants and personally i find his potential signing exciting.
-
Thanks Chaddy. Doesn't sound like anything close and he seems frustrated with it
-
