  1. Kompany had many more millions and and players brought in asap.Plus after coming from the premier League they already had players better than ours.
  2. He did a decent job overall but he should have left/sacked two seasons ago.Too stubborn and extremely limited tactically. I don't put him on Kean level but when Im reading that he was advising our head of recruitment to leave the club to join Sunderland then imo he couldnt have had the clubs best interests at heart when he was here. He didn't put the club no 1 when he was here, giving all the senior ageing players after our promotion new contracts that there ability didn't merit. Coming out in the media with all the Rothwell stuff...should have been kept in house. Some of his comments openly admitting he would have signed a new contract here if offered in January but because no offer was forthcoming coming out crying in the media about it when the season was unfinished. The Rothwell saga, he was clearly aware that the owners said they didn't want to sell him but yet still chose to play it out in front of the cameras that should have been kept in house. Not signing a forward when he had the opportunity to do so, playing Ryan Giles rwf when he had the most assists first part of season playing LWB for Cardiff. Some of his decisions whilst here were absolutely crazy. If he had gone a couple of years ago I'd remember him a lot more fondly. He is a mediocre at best manager his career outside of Rovers proves this and he is certainly two faced
  3. Ran the club down plenty of times.Made out our fan base are delusional and we are still living In 95. Worse still advising a colleague to leave us to join another club.Absolutely no excuse for that.Yet Mowbray was still wanting another contract at our little club. The man is two faced
  4. Mortons best performance yet. Early days but I feel less nervous with Hyam than I did Lenihen lovely finish too. Hedges is a classy player
  5. 3 at the back. Disappointed A Wharton and Dack on the bench
  6. I don't like his ego and like other journos he gets it wrong but like it or not he has broken a lot of transfers this summer throughout the football league.
  7. Nixon reported yesterday that he is also close to signing a new contract. Most summer he been saying he would more than likely be heading to Spurs
  8. Great news. Cmon Phillips lad follow your future England teammate and commit to the club
  9. Anyone been watching Mike? Drama about the life of Mike Tyson on Disney+. Watched first episode last night was decent .
  10. In general I agree with you that we should start selling players and reinvesting the money.Iv said that many times on here. I just disagree with Brererton this summer due to the poor offers and the lateness of them.Plus Dack aside who is back after 2 years injured we have no other goalscorers in the squad . Even if a target was identified no guarantee they would come in and take over the goal scoring mantle.Take the goals Brererton provides away and a relegation battle would have been on this season. No player should be allowed to go into their final year, if no contract signed at the very latest with 18 month on their deal then we should be looking to move them on and use the money for replacement. At the moment though the contract situation looks like it's being dealt with ,Travis Kaminski , Buckley and Gallagher on longish enough deals. With A Wharton set to follow. Morton was alright against Blackpool but has looked a little lost in the other matches and I did agree with you in the summer that we needed another midfielder with more experience after he was signed
  11. In fairness they lost to QPR and drew with Rotherham,Brum and Preston. If we perform as we did in the last game,Reading and Sheff United we will get a pasting. But we have had glimpses of being solid and decent in some of our performances. If S Wharton is back and Travis back in midfield then hopefully we look a bit more solid. If Sarr is left isolated v the full back then we will be in trouble but the same goes for most the division. We have had 9 days since the last match so hopefully we will see a much better performance tomorrow night.
  12. Because we are little old Blackburn Rovers and we should realise it isn't 95 anymore. And to think one poster on here was suggesting he should have a statue outside Ewood park.
  13. Wharton new contract announcement not far away according to Nixon
  14. I often see comparisons being made between ourselves and Middlesbrough on here and why we don't spend like they do. Middlesbrough is a working class area also. They are averaging gates of 26k this season ,11 or 12 thousand more than ourselves.Their cheapest adult season ticket is £560 and their highest is £700+.A match day ticket to watch them v Rotherham is £32. Don't get me wrong I think our pricing is wrong and more should be done to get fans into the ground but it shows what we are competing with and why the like of Boro can pay more wages than us. People will probably point me toward Preston ,Wigan and Bolton and how those clubs manage to get fans in the ground but all due respect they are not as active as us in the transfer market and don't run wage bills as big as ours, even after we cut ours drastically
  15. Nice one Chaddy saved me a job.Gav talking nonsense
  16. I very much doubt you have seen enough of Hirst to make such a statement. If he is just a stop gap to not block Vales pathway , then why did we try to buy him permanently at first? And now have an option to make it permanent at the end of the loan. Hirsts signing will be driven by Data and I see similarities with Brererton, an attacker who was extremely highly rated in his youth but has taken time to get to grips with men's football.A level below I know but he is off the back of an excellent season at Pompey and Leicester clearly think he is worth a bit of money. For me Hyam looks every bit as good as Lenihen and although I was a fan of Nyambe and wanted him to stay I do prefer Brittain and I would have said that even if asked last season when Brittain was still a Barnsley player. Szmodic looks an odd signing but not many in the game have a 100% record of not making mistakes in the transfer market. I think you are being harsh on Broughton. You say his philosophy but as stated by both him and JDT they are working to the "owners vision". At the end of the day cash is king and Broughton can not be blamed for our first choice targets going elsewhere when other clubs offer money that we can't match. I'm not saying Broughton will definitely be a success but I honestly don't think a proper judgement can be made after this window. He came late into the job, working with existing data and recruitment staff from the Mowbray era.He has appointed a new head of recruitment and a new European head scout is on the agenda. From day one you have had it in for him.You even tried pin Luton's relegations on him as one of the reasons you think he is substandard. True, I did say giving him kudos IF Wharton and Phillips sign long term. Again not saying he will be the answer, not saying he won't be shit but I do think statements like you are making with such certainty after such a short period of time is a bit ridiculous.
  17. Cant remember that. Not sure why this has just flagged up in your memory today either. Mowbray himself said that he didn't pursue a striker in January 22
  18. Where have you got this that Mowbray said he bid for a striker in January? You still not said .Can you point me toward the link or interview where Mowbray said he bid for a striker in January? You don't know any of that regarding Maja. You don't know that we even made a move for Maja in January. You take Sharpe's words as gospel and his words at the time were "My understanding Is Bordeaux will only entertain a permanent deal for Maja"
  19. Who did he bid for Gav? Sure weren't you telling us all we couldn't bring in Maja because we didn't have the money and Bordeaux only wanted a permanent deal. You were saying this even after he joined Stoke on a straight up loan deal with no obligation to buy him when the loan ended
  20. No I said Mowbray said he didn't think a striker was needed after being offered premier league attacking players on loan. Mowbrays words not mine.
  21. Is it your money? No saying the owners won't give money for a replacement next season. Who did we sell to buy Brererton. Like I said I wouldn't have sold that late in the window.I disagree with you.The end.
  22. With the wages we pay we ain't bringing in a guaranteed goalscorer with a few days remaining in the window even if we were to use the whole 10 million euro on an individual replacement. How long did it take Arma and Brererton before they developed into regular goalscorers? I wouldn't have dealt for that price with such little time left in the window with the current situation the club finds itself in. We already had to find replacements for the 4 other departures who were regulars last season 5 if you include Khadra. Add to that a new manager with no experience in the Championship it would have been too much of a gamble to part with Brererton at such a late stage without even making a profit on what we paid for him in the first place. With some of the other fees paid out for other players this summer even with his contract situation £15 million would have been a fair price
  23. Isn't that the point he was making though...if your assets are under long term contracts then situations like Brererton, Rothwell, Lenihen and Nyambe won't happen. Wharton and Phillips will have premier league admirers already so if they pen long term deals then Broughton does deserve some credit for that. Clubs knew Brerertons contract situation all summer and only bids reported came in the final 10 days of the window. Last season we got the fee for Armstrong, this year clubs taking the piss with the bids and trying to force our hand. You reckon we should be aiming to better last season's 8th place finish and that's with losing 4 regulars from last seasons team. You also acknowledge that the team isn't blessed with goalscorers but yet you think we should have sold our only source of consistent goals for below his value with a few days left in the window.
  24. We signed Hirst after Hyam.A player JDT had spoken too weeks prior to him signing. Didn't Nyambe himself say he wanted a new challenge? It's not exactly Broughtons fault that we didn't land our first choice targets either.Hardly his fault that Sheff United and Rangers offered more lucrative deals to Anel and Davies.Broughton has to work to the budget that is set by the owners . People are saying Kudos to Broughton IF Wharton and Phillips sign new contracts.
  25. We had 6 million bids for Brererton from Nice and Fulham you think we should have sold our only regular goalscorer for such a pitiful sum? JDT didn't want Brererton sold.Wasnt that your complaint in January that the owners overruled the manager over a transfer of a player?
