  1. He was shoved in the back while in mid air. Are you being sarcastic?
  2. Apparently “clever of Sam Gallagher” to get pushed in the back! FFS
  3. Arma just can’t do one-on-ones. Should have buried that.
  4. And now Bennett on. Bloody hell Tony!
  5. Can’t recall a more biased commentary than this.
  6. Sky REALLY want Brentford to win this.
  7. Don’t know how we are winning this one but let’s hope whatever spell we have over them continues. We’ve certainly grown in this second half. But... does Mowbray get his tactics off BRFCS... Spot on so far, Tony. Maybe you need to get a consultancy fee? ☺️
  8. Ultimately, the only real debate here is whether people think Mowbray can get us promoted before the plug is pulled, as it was with Bowyer. The longer the wrong person is given spending money the more chance of the next manager failing as well due to having zero money to spend and the best players being sold.
  9. Exactly the same way that Venkys emerged unscathed from months of protests. Ride out the storm because they hold all the cards. At other clubs, and in years gone by at Rovers, the board acts when fans turn. That said, Mowbray gets the absolute minimum of grief in the ground. “Tony sort it out” is the absolute worst that has been said in three years. Kean and Coyle have seriously impacted the expectations (and demands) of fans. And there’s nothing wrong with that per se, it’s a view. But it’s part of the reason why we have minimal crowds and next to no atmosphere. That combined with prohibitive walk on prices.
  10. Yes, regular £5 tickets offers - 4 per season, and £199/£239 lowest season tickets - early bird, £299/£349 standard. Get them shifted. Increase attendances. The only thing that is going to save us is promotion. Making an extra couple of thousand won’t dent wages, let alone buy players. Sadly we are reliant on Venkys for that. A better atmosphere will contribute to that. Anyone who thinks we will have a sustainable club with the current pricing model and sub-10k ST holders is in denial. Waggott seems to think the product he is selling is of value but this is a buyers market and they will dictate value. Where are the players or playing style to excite the money out of fans’ pockets? £12m could have gone some way to bringing in some gems - if we had the right people in place. If Venkys were not here, I would have a completely different view on this, btw. Sadly, without promotion, if Venkys do get frustrated or bored, that means a Bolton or even Bury future.
  11. We all know what puts bums on seats. Charlton proved it last week. This isn’t about increasing attendance, let alone growing the fanbase, it’s about trying to maximise revenue from existing fans.
  12. Very surprised at this. But I’m done taking this thread off topic.
  13. This thread is about Tony Parkes, not transfer spending.
  14. Ones with far better squads than ours can do it that way. We have been most successful and consistent when we have ditched the rotation policy in favour of a stable side.
  15. I just think it’s really sad that the club won’t recognise the contribution this man made. It should have been done long ago but there is certainly no foresight under the current hierarchy. Something certainly could have been announced in response to this news but hasn’t. People like Tony Parkes are what this ‘club’ is built on. There have been good things done, even on Venkys watch (BBE and DE stand names, Family Club of the Year - twice). It just feels like now all of the focus and energy is on money to the exclusion of all else. High prices, ticket tax, cost cuts and no spending - and £7.50 pie-and-a-pint “deals”. We are losing something.
  16. Biggest laugh was watching their fullback look totally shocked that taking the throw (significantly) from the wrong place was a foul throw and you don’t get to have another go like in kids football. He ended up wasting valuable time during stoppage time. Actually the biggest laugh was the support Gent got every time he touched the ball to counter the booing that the Nobbers tried to get going. Nice ovation when he went off later too. They aren’t half bitter. First half, yes, they were on top but until that second goal Rovers were starting to dominate. A narrow one and we were on the right side of it. 4-2 flattered, 3-2 whilst nervy, didn’t.
  17. I’m genuinely very aware. Keep active, keep the brain ticking over and stay as socially involved as possible. Just being in an online forum keeps the brain working - well most days!
  18. Thanks for that den. Really lovely to read this, it brought a tear to my eye... And for the few hours that Tony is with his Sporting Memories family, Natalie added: "I have my dad back, the man I remember and grew up with." Meanwhile, we deliberate over which of the training pitches to rename. If we are even deliberating at all.
  19. It turned the game quicker than it might have done but Rovers came out second half the better team and it was a keeper error (poor kick) that resulted in their second. That was after the ref got in the way of the ball in the build up to their first. The man advantage seemed to stop late on at Preston went for it. We looked nervy almost the entire time between the third and fourth goals but they couldn’t fashion a chance without a bit of help from us. Thankfully that didn’t come.
