Lovely jubbly. Did you manage to get to the game? Decent turnout / match?

Don’t you dare, Paul. My post quite clearly said “My only worry with picking the Wigan game is ...”
-
Clearly! ?
-
Nothing to do with my post whatsoever.

Foxtrot uniform.

Woah woah woah. Poor post? I stand by that fact that Wigan have a set of scrotes who follow them on cheap tickets. Paul turned that into a barb against Rovers fans.
-
I think originally it was short for scrotum. You’ve pretty much summed the colloquialism up though, Paul. Although ironically the Oxford dictionary would have been more succinct. I’ve been to Wigan on cheap ticket deals and it makes it affordable for some proper scrotes. Kids who want to give it large and cause a bit of bovva. They have more than their fair share.
-
It’s dead because what they are offering is not value for money. They should do something about that. Sadly they won’t. They will just shut it down.

My only worry with picking the Wigan game is that it will attract a lot of scrotes. Hopefully the fact that it’s an evening ko will make it more difficult but I’d expect trouble. Other than that it’s a a local derby right before Christmas that is very affordable at a time when people are skint. Hopefully a big crowd and a great performance to kick off the Christmas period. Let’s hope the weather isn’t awful.

I’m really worried that this bloke will see us return to the dark days. John Williams leaving was such a disaster. If the numpties in Pune had just left him to it this club would be thriving right now and they would have saved loads of money and opened their Venkys shops. Maybe even had the Riverside names after them. Shit, with the money saved they could have even redeveloped it first! It’s like we are in some nightmare parallel universe. Meanwhile, in the real world Rovers are where Leicester are and Burnley are in L2! Bastards!!!

Our concession pricing sums up the club. They would rather charge top dollar and sell very few. A bit like match tickets. We have a huge empty stadium. Why not try to maximise footfall by making it the best priced stadium around. Do a deal with Wetherspoons about running the concourse bars and the Blues. We just have no imagination, no innovation and no appetite to do anything about it. Oh for an Andy Holt or a Dave Hawthornthwaite!

Whenever we change personnel we change shape. We don’t have like for like cover. The biggest difference in approach last night though was playing a striker as a striker and a quick skilful attacker on the wing. Our defence had balance with two centre backs, one of the captain booming orders and organising. People don’t agree but we need someone to come in who can score goals because we are so reliant on Dack. Brereton just looks ungainly. Get him loaned out ‘for experience’ and bring in a goalscorer. Right now, I’d settle for a second game in a row with that same defence as last night. Happy to rotate Bennett in and out of the side along with Johnson and Evans but not at right back. Balance and consistency are what is required.

It’s almost like he wants to show that lowering prices doesn’t work... Fair play offering any game for £10 around Christmas but it really should have been the afternoon, non-televised game. As it’s Boxing Day though he thinks people will pay anyway. I can’t remember a Rovers board that cares as little about attracting fans. Playing the short term game rather than the long one is what people do for the good of themselves not the collective.

Brentford (h) - the Mowbray love in!

I think it’s more that ‘possession’ as a stat is nonsense. Teams have been more than happy to let us play keepball for weeks as long as we do nothing useful with it. Let’s hope Mowbray has turned a corner. -
Apparently that’s a condescending attitude. It’s all down to Mowbray. He knows best. Fans know nothing.
-
Tbf, there was nothing in Parson’s post that supported Mowbray, just what he expected to happen. Having got up hope that Mowbray was finally going to admit that the challenge was too big for him, we are now back to square one. Instead we can expect lots more sound bites from all at Rovers about what a small club we are so as to make Tony’s endeavours seem like over-achievement with our small-town-small-time-tin-pot club.

You really are so far removed from the reality of Rovers, it’s unreal. No way can you be a regular attendee - if you go at all. Your “extremely condescending comments” that “he and his staff plan each game using strengths and weakness of the opposition” is a very poor defence and a damning with feint praise. The worst part is you are probably right. Such a shame that he doesn’t plan using the strengths and weaknesses of Rovers or we might be where we need to be in the table instead of inconsistently bouncing around the bottom half. Having been largely united around Mowbray taken us as far as we can, a couple of wins and once again all is forgiven for some. Funny though, isn’t it. We play with the right personnel, the way “I want” as you so cleverly put it, and we win. But of course that’s a bad thing! WTAF? Sounds like you would rather we lost by picking the wrong players each week just so that you can live in a world where I’m never right? What a stupid opinion to take where your distain for me is more important than wanting Rovers to win football matches. -

A nice warm ovation for Raya at the start of the second game which he appreciated. Had a decent game too. -

Far better and more balanced performance tonight. 100 times better than against Barnsley. So what did we learn tonight? Well not much that we didn’t already know... - Armstrong out wide instead of on his own in the middle works. - A proper striker playing up top not out wide works - Gallagher must be fuming. - A proper right back instead of a midfielder works. - Armstong and Nyambe can work together. - Rothwell and Downing can work together. - Playing Rothwell from the start with a bit of freedom works - although if Mowbray hadn’t dug him out about goals earlier in the week, he might not have overthought his shot. Man of the match again. - £14m and we are still utterly dependent on Dack for goals. - Playing Bennett in defence makes us weaker - let’s hope Nyambe isn’t badly injured. - Lenihan is a far better captain that Bennett. - Brereton isn’t a pro athlete let alone a footballer - has he even been working on his game while he has been out? Can’t run, win the ball, or even get close to it. I don’t remember him touching the ball in the time he was on the pitch. All of the things we have been asking for from Mowbray were in that starting line up. But his tombola machine will strike again in no time. Three home wins in a row should be a cause for some optimism but I’ve no faith that he will stick with our best side or improve it with astute recruitment in January. He needs to show something in the next five games that he has learned and he is going to have faith in his best players rather than his favourite or longest serving. More changes for the sake of it and we are back to square one. Over to you Tony. -

Lenihan should be captain every game. (That he’s fit ) -

Mowbray drops Bennett but the negates it by playing Evans! That tombola must keep him up at nights but he remains true to it. Other managers wouldn’t have the bottle. -
We tried for them? According to who? If we are going off posts then the decision to sell was to allow us to afford Gallagher. And if we didn’t get them we shouldn’t have sold a player under contract. When you don’t have a keeper and other teams know this, they have the upper hand in negotiations. Here’s hoping Gallagher scores tonight and starts to payback that decision.
