Derby County (H) - We couldn't make it four... could we?
Stuart replied to a topic in Blackburn Rovers Fans Messageboard
Have to laugh at people on here sometimes. Rothwell has started our last three games and we’ve won them all. We’ve won four out of the last five and the one match he didn’t get on the field - we lost! Yet he’s the problem!! People seem to be really hoping he will fail despite the we success and even excitement we enjoy on the pitch, whenever he has a sustained run in the side. You couldn’t make this up! -
Nah. Agree he’s probably better than Bennett even now but he is still another midfielder. We need a proper right back.

https://www.lancashiretelegraph.co.uk/sport/18075181.booking-boost-rovers-first-suspension-amnesty-reached/ So an amnesty on yellow cards. Is this why Bennett was sidelined then - to protect him - rather than some tactical epiphany? Another accidental success or will he go “right back” to playing his captain again...?
-
Keeper tried to be clever. Rushed out and deliberately didn’t make the challenge. He should have taken ball and man. Looking forward to getting back above them and being able to give a bit back.

The only way this comments make sense is if Mowbray was talking about getting £20m for Dack, like Leicester paid for Maddison.
-
Agreed about draws. Mowbray, and previously Bowyer, wanted to protect a point at all costs. As a result we stagnated. Trouble with that approach is that if enough teams around you win then you fall down the league. (In a three team league, if the other two teams beat each other but draw with you then you finish bottom). Meanwhile Mowbray was promoted with West Brom by going all out for wins. Presumably that was what his bosses demanded. Meanwhile ours demand “improvement - if at all possible”. Nice work if you can get it.

Who would we like to get in the FA cup draw?

Au contraire, I think that draw will be the most exciting thing about this season’s FA Cup. We got into the last four at least! -

Last ball out. Mowbray out! Was really hoping for a home game against the Dingles just to be able to imagine Waggott’s face. Although I wasn’t looking forward to the Tuesday morning 6am kick off with representatives of HM Armed Forces surrounding the edges of the pitch. Conversely, away at Brum is certainly not a game to capture the imagination but one that we should have no fear over. Here’s hoping for our name being in the hat for the fourth round - ideally not with “or Birmingham City” attached. -

Typical Mowbray really. Says what he wants because he can. I’m torn on this one though. On the one hand, without Dack’s goals this season we are 9 points worse off, 19th and 2 points off relegation. On the other hand. Rovers need to get £14m from somewhere because Mowbray has already spent it (albeit on duds). To do that then we are going to have to sell when he is in form. However, it always seems like it’s the fans who have to swallow the Rovers budget line. Players still get paid a fortune; execs and management are still well rewarded for mediocrity; Venkys are still rich. Despite the latter we have to “stick to a budget”. Where is the imagination to increase numbers, or the imagination to bypass FFP like other clubs seem to be able to?

Derby County (H) - We couldn't make it four... could we?

I can see where you are coming from. Different era and all that but David Speedie joined Rovers aged 31. I think Rooney being at Derby says more about their ambition at this point. Rooney should probably be somewhere like Newcastle at this point but the PL is a very athletic division nowadays. Probably why it didn’t work out at Everton. -

I’m done with this Paul. I’ve explained my comment. Now you are just trying to get a rise.
-
Did he play in the middle?
-
Please don’t quote him, I have him on ignore. He isn’t joking and none of his posts are “funny”. Good to see that the site is being consistent in its application of the rules though.
-
The answer is not Bennett. If Nyambe can’t do it then we need a new right back.
-
-
Lenihan captain again. I’m telling you, that’s a huge thing as well.
-
Halfway to safety with a margin of 8 dead rubbers. Back in the Hughes days we used to get to 40 points (50 required in the EFL) as soon as possible - ugly if necessary- and then we could relax and play some good football and finish well. Would be great if we could generate a nice little run.
-
Flex’s sake.
-
Absolutely brilliant! Don’t care if we were lucky or hanging on or what. That is a great result!! Tony - please stick with the formula of Rovers playing to our strengths. Let’s start letting other teams worry about us and make the January window worth investing in. Cheers! ?

I don’t expect Nyambe would agree to any of it. I think conversations are kept internal and then Mowbray tells the press whatever they need to hear. Is Nyambe going to go to the papers and say ‘I’m fit to play but I’ve been sidelined’? These players may genuinely be injured but it works out very well if they are ‘injured’ rather than dropped because Mowbray would rather play X player as the backlash is far less. At this point I have no faith in Mowbray to pick an XI to win a game and it’s all about negating the opposition. Just as it was with Bowyer. That will draw criticism. Injuries don’t.
-
Bennett dropped and then the guy who replaced him “potentially injured”. How (in)convenient.
-
That’s what I read too. Our best game of the season in terms of the team looking like a team and it will all change again. Lenihan should keep the captain’s armband at the very least but Mowbray doesn’t seem to run a meritocracy.

I don’t think this bloke is the full shilling. He’s talking like rests aren’t important and it’s just about keeping everyone happy with game time. He’d be better off in development football. Or we are back to: his position is so secure he is under no pressure to get results.
