This is exactly why Waggott gets accused of milking fans. No attempt to increase crowds but simply increasing prices. Between him and Mowbray we are a million miles away from where we need to be. With Venkys millions backing us we should be far more about getting fans back and filling Ewood as much as possible. If the owners were a struggling fan group or local owners having to cut their cloth it would be a different discussion. However, even they wouldn’t make this a £40 - £48 fixture.

Just clocked my error. Still means use of scare tactics rather than trying to encourage fans to attend.

It’s a moot point to put to a season ticket holder really. ”It’s acceptable as long as I’m not affected”. I wonder if Chaddy would be happy for STs to increase to £600 in 2021/22 as long as we are told now so we can start saving? Waggott has already gone over the sweet spot (sub-£300 STs) and we are now seeing the rotten fruits of that.

Cringiest moments in Rovers history?
Stuart replied to Amo's topic in Blackburn Rovers Fans Messageboard
WTF?? That kind of shit makes me ashamed to be a human being, let alone a Rovers fan. -
It’s amazing that Mowbray can force himself out of bed in a morning. The way he talks about it, being a football manager is just too difficult. Having to buy players, sell players, coach them, pick a team, make substitutions. As for digs about not being able to speak to players before you sign them that only applies if you are buying another club who own their registration, as opposed to the out of contract types we normally pick up - who we could easily have a chat to before committing to a contract. Who have we paid fees for recently... Brereton, Gallagher, Armstrong. We signed Johnson on a free from D&DFC so maybe we couldn’t speak to him until he was signed. Although I thought clubs looking to sell often gave players ‘permission to speak to other clubs’. All very bizarre.

Wait til Benson upgrades the goalkeeping software in his laptop. He’ll be downloading YouTube videos faster than a Derby player from a breathalyser. Walton 2.0: Total Reboot

“the Club will not tolerate any of its players or staff behaving in a manner which puts themselves, their colleagues, and members of the general public at risk of injury or worse, or which brings the club into disrepute“

Pardon?

Yes. If that’s true. Can’t find any details. Meanwhile, over at “Pride” Park... A club statement said: "Derby County Football Club has completed the disciplinary hearing regarding Richard Keogh in respect of his involvement in the events of Tuesday, September 24th. "As a result of that process, Mr Keogh has had his contract terminated with immediate effect for gross misconduct. He has the right of appeal within 14 days. "As we have said from the outset, the Club will not tolerate any of its players or staff behaving in a manner which puts themselves, their colleagues, and members of the general public at risk of injury or worse, or which brings the club into disrepute. https://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/news/richard-keoghs-wife-wades-row-20765958 ...unless of course they are of value to us. Double-standards, I’m afraid. Dodge the issue if you like, Rev, but the hypocrisy is right there in black-and-white.

Sorry, I couldn’t get past the first paragraph. Just the mental image of our Simon walking around the away end at half time speaking to everyone he could to see if they thought Mowbray should go! “I spoke to quite a few people” Methinks he is simply paraphrasing Mowbray’s mate. I like the idea of a ‘short’ break for Mowbray though. Two years should do it.

What odds on Smallwood being back in the squad while Rothwell has a ‘knock’?
-
By keeping the other two they are, in effect, condoning their behaviour. Evidently they are comfortable having drink drivers play for them. What a crass club.
-
You don’t get to selectively apply morals. You either have them or you don’t. The bottom line is that Keogh has been sacked because he has no value to Derby, nothing else.
-
Which is why they are now accused of double standards.
-
No sympathy at all. Not sure why you read it that way. The issue is that the other two haven’t had their contracts cancelled.
-
Keogh, an injured passenger, was sacked for ‘gross misconduct’. Lawrence and Bennett both admitted, and were convicted for, drink driving. The moral argument doesn’t stack up. The misconduct charge (which does appear to be a case of double standards) surely must point to a contract clause like ‘barring accident players will ensure they are fit to play at all times“. Either way, I agree with those suggesting Keogh had become an expensive problem (out for over a year and the wrong age). The other two still have value. Let’s not pretend this is any moral argument. It is arguable whether what happened to Keogh was beyond his control. His lawyers will argue he wasn’t driving, the club will argue he got in the car. I expect him to get a big payout.

Even if we have attacking talent, we have a manager who doesn’t know how to use it. Nay, goes out of his way to nullify it.

In my view to boost sales of the three game offer. ”All about creating (the illusion of) value”. People ask why Waggott isn’t seen as on the fans‘ side. They need to look at what he does with his pricing policies and not what he says. - ST prices have increased - Shirt costs have increased - Walk-on costs have rocketed - Food/drink prices have rocketed Meanwhile we have 1875 club incentives, tacky £350 lottery tickets to win 10k, pithy bundles trying to incentivise fans to buy into the higher pricing policy. “Buy a ST it’s cheaper” while putting up the price of everything else to make it appear so. While ignoring the fact that your average Blackburner doesn’t have a big wallet - and they aren’t even spending it in the pub (which is why the pub trade is shrinking as quickly as the Rovers fanbase!) If he doesn’t, can’t, or won’t try to understand - let alone increase - his catchment area, and look at a lower margin, higher volume model then we are never going to see the fanbase grow. Fortunately-well-off (I can afford it so should they) or die-hard (I’d rather follow Rovers and go without) fans may take a different view but they are already here! If you want to attract more affluent out of town folk then you need to make the brand a lot more appealing and floundering around with a manager whose ambition or ability will see us 14th at best isn’t going to work either. Billionaire owners and we are scratting around trying to increase revenues by tapping up the same beleaguered fans. Is it any wonder there is no atmosphere at Ewood and more vociferous fans would rather give their money to away clubs than to Rovers?

Let’s not get carried away!
-
The only extra dimension I would add is that the U23s need to stay in the top division to be able to better develop players so there is an element of team progression as well as individuals.
-
I agree with this but I do not class Smallwood as someone who should be taking a spot from someone else - in either squad.
-
Law of averages took them 35 years! We could be in for a long wait.

Why are you so sensitive - chill. If you had any interest in bingo you’d know exactly what a dabber was. Guess you won’t be supporting the event either then?

Think I’m booked in for my blue rinse on that day. Good luck and don’t forget your dabber.
