  1. When Venkys are done we may well be back to our old status. That being 1985. Although I’d take that to be shut of them. Of course I’d prefer them to sell us to someone who gives a shit about Rovers.
  2. I keep thinking the same thing about the PL yet it similarly rumbles on.
  3. Let’s not go there. It’s utterly pointless at this stage.
  4. Why? Because Venkys won’t sell. You do wonder where it will end for Rovers.
  5. http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-5974301/Watford-send-free-replica-shirts-fans-attended-19-Premier-League-away-games-season.html Now that’s what you call a kit launch! ????
  6. Did we play Final Countdown last season? Genuinely don’t remember it if we did!
  7. BMW - says it all really. Remember though - cash is king at Rovers these days. While Burnley occupy the spot in the PL that Venkys handed to them. But of course we should all be grateful.
  8. Good news about Dack. It’s another positive message and a sign that this is a team te current players want to stay part of. I guess that’s the legacy of promotion. However, he is still a L1 player and, aside from a cameo from Davenport, we haven’t yet signed any Championship standard players. Davenport has even played more Championship games than Samuel - the last Championship player we paid money for. We are relying very heavily on team spirit and an understanding between our young L1 team. In my view we need to mix on some experience (of the right age/quality) - particularly further up the field - which I guess will have to come from the league an market, if at all. Graham, Conway, Mulgrew and Whittingham have a combined age of 112. Another Lenihan standard. Maddison and Marriott both look excellent but neither has any Championship experience so we are relying on some real impact even if we did sign both - and they seem pretty unlikely.
  9. This is my problem with Waggott though, Matty. On the evidence so far, he has set about maximising the revenue potential from the 8,000 rather that doing something a bit more difficult and dare I say visionary - as Williams did - in growing the business and attracting new customers. I made a post the other week about Ansoff’s Matrix - although I didn’t mention it by name. Waggott is showing all the hallmarks of a short term strategy to maximise profitability rather than building any kind of legacy or to develop the club and its fanbase. It’s a classic personal career driven philosophy that sees senior managers the world over on to their next promotion while leaving a trail of destruction in the rear view. It’s lazy and it has the potential to turn 8,000 into 6,000 if it continues. I will caveat this post, however, by saying that I would understand some of what is being done if - and it’s a huge IF - we did not have billionaire owners.
  10. This season’s pricing strategy has been to go after the fans for the coin. Yes, the loyal, and habitual fans will (and have) bought season tickets at the increased prices (no matter whether Waggott thinks its a price freeze or not), and they will find they money. But the people of Blackburn don’t generally respond well if they feel they are being ripped off. Unless we are absolutely flying this season walk-ones will be very few. The 1875 club membership and shirt just adds to the overall cost. And both have been increased while the value of both has fallen. (Little benefit of 1875 and a poor effort with the shirt). Yes, it’s probably the going rate but Rovers certainly aren’t paying the going rate when it comes to transfer business. We won’t be getting a ‘bums on seats’ player on our budget. A PL pledge should be the minimum being offered every season we are in the Championship because in the unlikely event that we are promoted the prize money will dwarf ST sales - even if we had 25,000 on. But not even that. Can’t see Waggott as anything but hard-nosed and out of touch.
  11. Let’s not over-egg the omelette. The fact it’s a preseason game is the only saving grace. However, I would genuinely LOVE to see tonight’s Liverpool side in the Champions League - or the PL for that matter - never going to happen. All we’ve learned tonight is that we aren’t good enough against top-end Championship standard opposition. Optimistic hopes turn to a mid-table mediocrity rather than any play-off tilt. Oh and maybe Mogga can twist the Venkys arms over some experienced reinforcements. Or maybe just twist their arms for a bit of sport.
  12. Loaning out youngsters is a sign that they are good not bad.
  13. Don’t know why but I see Joe further forward. Other two I’ve not seen enough of.
  14. Stefan Mols! Has the potential to be a fans favourite if he can stay fit. Potentially Okera Simmonds but I’ve not yet seen enough of him tbf.
  15. Like I said Paul, clearly we view this very differently. Maybe you look at it differently than me because England have already won the WC in your lifetime. Or maybe you genuinely don’t feel any affiliation to the national team. Or feel any pride in the historical achievement. Comparing England winning the World Cup to a bit of bunting is like comparing a wedding to a bit of a party once. Glad you know my game though. Very reassuring.
  16. Even their old logo would have worked better!
  17. Maybe. But that’s their logo. They didn’t have to make it black. We went through all this when they did the Crown logo. That shirt could have been so much better. We are historically really bad at this.
  18. Looking at their wesite the only time their logo is black is on our shirt. It’s normally a white ‘10’. So there was lots of latitude.
  19. Still not a fan due to how pale the blue half is but that does look a heck of a lot better. Presumably black stands out more. But so do sore thumbs.
  20. The 1875 club cash fiver that costs a tenner?
  21. Blimey Paul. You took your time with that reply. Must do better with your insults though, Old Bean. You REALLY think that England winning the World Cup is about 7-8 hours of flags, horns and a bit of bunting? If that's a genuine opinion then we really are viewing this very very differently.
  22. I would have asked when the away kit is out but they've even had the cheek to put the price up to £50!! Fifty quid!! Waggott should wear a mask when he meets the fans.
