  1. I think that may have been a case of reporters putting 2 and 2 together because of the maanger's international connections.
  2. Brentford are a selling club so they will want to maximise any sell on for themselves. a % from a promotion is income from the premiership gravy train. Sensible business
  3. But if we NEED a keeper and only have enough money for one player then the keeper becomes essential while an additional midfielder becomes a luxury. Same rule if playing FIFA or in real life. It can be arugued that Smallwood out creates a space in midfield but only if the player is better than the already bulging midfield dept. More need clearing unless this has been budgeted for well before this pandemic.
  4. Many clubs will have to calculate this and why transfer fees this close season will be nowhere near what some people on here are estimating. There is no way our players will fetch what some on here are dreaming off. Getting the high earners off the wage bill will be a priority just to limit this blackhole.
  5. Didn't the coach that wanted Raya at Brentford move to Arsenal when Arteta became manager?
  6. I agree but my point still stands an isolated winger is easy to defend by doubling up on him. Another factor that I forget was that he also needs players in the box that can attack a ball. The goal against Reading was the only time I saw SG attack a ball in the box, usually he is out wide or still on the half way line. Also full backs who know how to attack. As you say we are light years away.
  7. How come clubs are allowed to have away kits in the same colours of their home kit? If that aint to give the opportunity of a money spinning third kit then why?
  8. It wasn't just from the wings though. With Dunn in the middle coming from midfield. What it gave was plenty of variation and teams could not work out where attacks could build so could do things like double up on one winger. This is turn made a wingers job easier. Chapman on his own won't make an impact in this team with the likes of SG and our static midfield an opposition will just double up on Chapman and nulify him. It would take a fundamental change from Rovers and Mowbray not that brave.
  9. Cant be.........have I not read Chaddy suggesting it earlier in the thread. I genuinely dont know as Ive still to see Carter........or much of the lesser seen Chapman play to give a realistic view.
  10. Correct...some silly prices........Armstrong 8-12 million.......is this the same Armstrong who last season people on here were saying we need to get shut off because he ain't good enough for the Championship. He has had a decent season, he needs to repeat it next season to be considered in 10 million bracket. Maybe if he learnt the offside rule and Brereton is worth 7 mill then possibly Armstrong is worth the figures you quote.
  11. So another genuine question, please dont get offended, but if the loan is agianst Venky's London where can it raise capital if not Rovers so technically whats the difference if the loan is against Rovers or Venkys London?
  12. That was before Corvid 19 so it is time to see what effect this will have on prices but lets be realistic. The only figure I saw for Lenihan was 2.5 mill, which I think is more like the price a defender with no premiership experience will bring.
  13. Aren't Rovers only asset that Venky's London Ltd have? Genuine question Chris
  14. I personally think that out of those five only Armstrong may go for anywhere 5 million. Nymabe is not even a permanent fixture in the team and Dack will need to prove his fitness before anyone will buy him. Lenihan has too many mistakes in him for anyone to pay big money for him.
  15. Doesn't deserve is a bit strong but yes his time is up. I also dont get that an array of passing is not an asset for a team wanting to be a possession based team but I also agree his form has dropped off and 12 months extra maybe a gamble too far
  16. On past Venky/Rovers history that very much depends on how much we need the money. Suspect with the rumours of the Dack sale before he got injured, we may be having a season of balancing the books so I suspect anyone offering 5 million will have their hands ripped off.
  17. Yes......but if he can't do it consistantly.....but the only way to tell is more game time I agree.
  18. Hakan Sukur? Joined Rovers rather late in his career to wonder what might have been? If we including player like this then Nuno Gomes and Ossie Ardiles The one Keen signing I wonder what if would be Simon Vukcevic
  19. Ally Dawson, Stuart Monroe .................If we got 10 games between them
  20. Also looks like he has lost a pound or two in weight. Maybe the Birmingham incident and focused his mind.
  21. At some stage, the teams in the top 6 will start winning again. While they have been floundering and losing ground on the top two, we have made small in roads into the gap but failed to catch them. So the answer I fear is that we've missed our chance.
  22. We are on the edge. We are relient on other team's results to get in the playoffs as long as we keep picking up points. If we lose then we drop out. Recent weeks have shown that those in the top 6 can afford to drop points even now. If we were to go on a winnig streak then yes we in the mix.
  23. Think you are pretty close except Armstrong up front with Gallagher wide and that is presuming that Travis and Lenihan havent been sold in the summer. Hopefully Bell will have been replaced by then as his contract is up. Are you presuming we will sign Walton permentately in the summer?
