  1. Evans is a barometer. He looks well when his partner plays well but he looks poor when his partner is poor. He is an ideal midefield partner but is not the leader who'll drive the team by himself.
  2. I'm probably doing Mowbray an injustice but when players are doing well he swaps and changes them when a result goes against. I didn't watch last night but listening to Radio Lancs last night, every time Travis' name was mentioned it was usually followed by a Swansea player as he had given the ball away. Evans was subbed even though Travis sounded knackered. From previous games, its looks like Holtby cant play as the middle two but his best performances have been further forward. To me, and I'll be called for this, Travis has been poor for the last two games and stays in the team whilst when he has played well he gets dropped. Sometimes I dont get what Mowbray sees, So I suspect the player who is playing well IMO, Evans, will be dropped whilst the player requiring a rest will be persisted with and a player will be added out of position.
  3. Rovers ability to pass accurately has been an issue all season. Before people start giving me stats that would suggest we are OK, it is not just about finding a man. The number of times on Saturday we found a man but the ball was played behind the player was quite worrying. It breaks up attacking play. I agree that players look jaded is also worrying but its a point several of us on here have made over Rovers general fitness previous. Dack's suspension gives Mowbray the opportunity of playing Holtby in his natural position but I suspect he'll drop Evans and play Travis and Holtby as his defensive midfeild pairing. Rothwell will be dropped which will see Bell return and Downing move to left midfeild. I suspect Bennett will also return so Nyambe will return to the bench.
  4. Lambert had Evans playing like this so he is not the only manager to get a tune out of Evans. So why has it taken nearly three seasons to get Mowbray to play him right?
  5. It's all about opinions and discussion. If we all had the same this would be very boring. BTW no such thing as Xmas, it is Christmas!!
  6. Sorry, you're right. We also will bring Smallwood back iinto centre midfield as he too was part of the promotion squad. Williams started at left back that season but Bell was signed to replace him. Enough said.
  7. If Big Sam struggled to get a consistent tune out of Rooney at Everton, after his successes of using old players then I wonder how committed Rooney is these days.
  8. All clubs have scrotes, simple as. £10 a game works if there is entertainment on the pitch. If people spennd £10 and it is a crap match they don't come back. For too many years, there has been too many crap games so why should people pay to be bored? The simple solutionis if Rovers were winning and playing well then people will come. You only have to look at this website when diehard fans struggle to watch
  9. According to Premier League website, he has reffed 9 games this season in the premier league. https://www.premierleague.com/referees/index
  10. Just watched the goal and I have to say Gallagher's movement in the box was great. It is something that I've been very critical of him and lets hope his confidence rises and he does this more often. Will be delighted if he proves me wrong.
  11. Those saying Cairney can I just ask is that at the expense of Dack because I can't see how both would play? I'd have Mitrovic definitely along with Raya. Struggling to come up with a definite third. Surprised that not everyone has gone for a keeper as Walton is so criticised on here.
  12. One goal does not make a striker yet.....look earlier in the thread. If you cant comment without swearing then so be it
  13. Take it all back Ossy Dave, SG is a footballing genius!!!!!! COYB
  14. People said that about us, the season we went down. Sometimes these things happen
  15. No way.....Josh King always had ability, he hadn't a manager who knew how to play him
  16. Yes, you have a point but to defend the players who provide the service, SG has to find space in the box for them to find him. It maybe a confidence thing with him but he is easily bullied by defenders. Watch DG he tries to find space, create space for Dack or at least make the defender's life hard. Neither SG and BB do this so are never going to get many chances or create chances for others. They usually hold their position next to the Central Defender and hide
  17. I'd be amazed if Burnley finish lower in their league than we do in ours. One of their strengths is that every player knows what is required. Yes they do get beaten at times but less than Mowbray's lets change the team because the opposition's full back once made an overlapping run technique has. As I've said before lets give the opposition something to worry about by plaing to our strengths......Lets be positive not negative by changing our tactics to nulify the opposition
  18. It is a fair point you make and it was one that I've made several times over the last couple of seasons. Evans when he plays well runs out of steam after 60 minutes. I was saying before Big bad Ben came one that I'd swap Evans for Johnson to see out the game.
  19. As I said before Evans has played well for O'Neill so it would be no surprise if Stoke come calling in Janurary. As far as I'm aware all three players you mentioned were never an option considered by Rovers during the summer. Still think that Venkys are only approving funds for forwards so even though Jansson cost the same as Gallagher it was as much of an option as Van Dyke. God only knows what the logic behind the keeper was but I think Forest would blow us out of the water for wages. As a manager of the club, he is accountable to the owners for results so I disagree about the blame not landing at the owners or the club. Our big downfall last season was poor defending so when this was not effectively tackled, senior mangement at the club should have been asking questions but his mates wouldn't. So manager, club and owners are to blame.
  20. We'll see about Evans when O'Neill signs him for Stoke. We've had several maangers try to get a tune out of Evans and the only one who did was Lambert. A change of club will be the best for all parties On Holtby, when playing as part of an attacking three he looked a world beater, whilst looking like an average Championship central mifielder....at best. Yet again Mowbray getting his tactics wrong again. As for the back 4 and keeper, l wanted us to sign Virgil Van Dyke and Allison so my back 5 beats Chaddys. Chaddy, with the defenders at Mowbray's disposal, which back 5 would you pick?
  21. Id have played Travis and Bennett actually. The penalty was silly I grant you. As I'd said early the management team deserved credit for getting the decision eventually right but it does not tarnish the opinion that he was making a negative tactic. Even great managers make negative tatical decisions sometimes. He was trying to shore up his defensive options to secure a point, sometimes its necessary. I've no problem with it, I may not like it but I've no problem with it. I have a problem with people who refuse to accept that Mowbray had safety first in mind but refuse to admit it. That's not yoy Roverfan but certain others need to get a dose of realism.
  22. Attacking central Midfield. A typical Mowbray signing to play wide so wont need the other.
  23. I actually think we'll be OK against Leeds. They will not sit back so will not need to be broken down. Still get beat by the odd goal.
