  1. I'd be amazed if Burnley finish lower in their league than we do in ours. One of their strengths is that every player knows what is required. Yes they do get beaten at times but less than Mowbray's lets change the team because the opposition's full back once made an overlapping run technique has. As I've said before lets give the opposition something to worry about by plaing to our strengths......Lets be positive not negative by changing our tactics to nulify the opposition
  2. It is a fair point you make and it was one that I've made several times over the last couple of seasons. Evans when he plays well runs out of steam after 60 minutes. I was saying before Big bad Ben came one that I'd swap Evans for Johnson to see out the game.
  3. As I said before Evans has played well for O'Neill so it would be no surprise if Stoke come calling in Janurary. As far as I'm aware all three players you mentioned were never an option considered by Rovers during the summer. Still think that Venkys are only approving funds for forwards so even though Jansson cost the same as Gallagher it was as much of an option as Van Dyke. God only knows what the logic behind the keeper was but I think Forest would blow us out of the water for wages. As a manager of the club, he is accountable to the owners for results so I disagree about the blame not landing at the owners or the club. Our big downfall last season was poor defending so when this was not effectively tackled, senior mangement at the club should have been asking questions but his mates wouldn't. So manager, club and owners are to blame.
  4. We'll see about Evans when O'Neill signs him for Stoke. We've had several maangers try to get a tune out of Evans and the only one who did was Lambert. A change of club will be the best for all parties On Holtby, when playing as part of an attacking three he looked a world beater, whilst looking like an average Championship central mifielder....at best. Yet again Mowbray getting his tactics wrong again. As for the back 4 and keeper, l wanted us to sign Virgil Van Dyke and Allison so my back 5 beats Chaddys. Chaddy, with the defenders at Mowbray's disposal, which back 5 would you pick?
  5. Id have played Travis and Bennett actually. The penalty was silly I grant you. As I'd said early the management team deserved credit for getting the decision eventually right but it does not tarnish the opinion that he was making a negative tactic. Even great managers make negative tatical decisions sometimes. He was trying to shore up his defensive options to secure a point, sometimes its necessary. I've no problem with it, I may not like it but I've no problem with it. I have a problem with people who refuse to accept that Mowbray had safety first in mind but refuse to admit it. That's not yoy Roverfan but certain others need to get a dose of realism.
  6. Attacking central Midfield. A typical Mowbray signing to play wide so wont need the other.
  7. I actually think we'll be OK against Leeds. They will not sit back so will not need to be broken down. Still get beat by the odd goal.
  8. I agree wholeheartedily about the subs but due to the famly comittments I wasn't at the PNE game so think it unfair to comment as I've only seen very brief highlights but I will say I liked the idea of using Bennett's energy to counter PNE. I was honestly expecting it to be Smallwood recalled. On Saturday, all I was commenting on was asking why with evidence of previous games, not including the North End game, and the fact that Evans was stripped ready to come on why Chaddy questions what Stuart was thinking was not correct? Mowbrays approach is a duel approach of Management by Numbers and Safety first. There was nothing from Saturday to suggest otherwise. If there was then he wouldn't have Bell on the bench or have two defensive midfielders there, he would have likes of Butterworth, Chapman and Rankin-Costello there as well as Buckley. These are players who change the game positively.
  9. I also seem to remember a story doing the rounds that the guy who bought Leicester being refused the chance to look at the books by the people employed to sell the club. Just out of interest how have all the other companies that the Walker Trust were involved in done?
  10. Thats irrelevant, Stuart is right. Evans coming on was defensive. He was definitely coming on as he was stripped and taking instructions from the management team. As soon as the goal went in he was told to get a bib on and warm up again as the management team decided what to do next. As others have said I could understand it as the game was going away from Rovers. As Buckley was the most attacking option left they threw him on. I'll give the Management Team credit they analysised the situation, took there time and changed their mind and got lucky. Just one question Chaddy about your theory about Downing to left back with Evans coming into midfield. What makes you think that Mowbray was going to change his substitution roundabout of i. Change Centre Forward ii. Put Rothwell on and move Downing inside iii. Take Downing off, throw on another midfielder The goal changed the Management Team's mind and they got a huge slice of luck for once. It was great for it to happen to us for a change.
  11. We were one down to PNE before Bennett won a tackle which fired us up to go 2-1 up if I remember correctly. The Wigan game you are correct
  12. For a team so low confidence the of course one incident in a game can change things but youre right things appear much deeper. This is only going to end in two ways either Mowbray leaving or relegation
  13. Mowbray has already decided, Nyambe dropped Bennett back to right back
  14. In our group, there are doubts appearing but with the exception of me, they are all sticking with him for the moment.
  15. Key to today.....dont give our old boy the freedom of the park!!! Mowbray hasnt learnt that yet or Gally has bossed each game
  16. Possibly but Downing instead of Bell. Bell is at least a goal start for PNE
  17. Just a bit weary that we entering Lambert territory after Bowyer again.
  18. I agree its frustration with the tactics but it reduces the forward options as with no Graham in the team he is the onlt player capable of holding the ball. If he is to become a captain he has to mask his frustrations and play to the team's tactics however crap they are.
  19. I agree but he has a spell as Kirkham Open Prison manager to come shortly
  20. I suspect we'll be in Navy. That pale grey too close to white
  21. The problem with Dack is that at times he already thinks he has to do everything on his own. When h appears alongside the right back wanting a ball he is not hurting the opposoition. He porbably be alongside Walton wanting the ball if he was captain. If Lenihan could stay fit then he'd ne the obvious but he can't stay fit. Bennett is only in the team because he's captain. In cricket it can work, example Miike Brierley, but not in football Johnson has the experience but there is a mistake or two in him. Graham is no longer going to play every game. Travis would be my choice but is a Mowbray scapegoat so that leaves... Stuart Downing
  22. Shouldnt it be the target of every manager at the start of the season to finish top 6. It may not be possible or probable but it should be the aim. Sad to say too many set the target of finsihing fourth of bottom, low aspirations. Didn't Mowbray himself set top 6 as the target at the start of the season?
  23. Still think its our liking to stand off players running with the ball rather than the opposing manager's briiliance
