  1. Oh damn! As soon as other clubs start bidding for our players...we know there's only one result, especially when they only have one year on their contract. If we lose Brittain and Batth, it is a big blow.
  2. I think it's been a better start to the window than we've had in previous years, that's for sure. Biggest failure so far has been losing Batth, that's a big loss. Big question marks over the future of Trav, Tronstad, and Brittain. Given our limited budget, I think the fall back cover signings make sense but are not massively exciting. Equally it would be silly to blow the budget on squad players. The two central midfielders I do think are good signings , only based on my limited knowledge of them. Our central midfield lacks running power and ball carrying ability so those two address that. I think Trav will go but we'll prob keep Tronstad for the last year of his contract given he likely doesn't have a huge transfer value anyway. No real headway made in attacking positions yet, but they cost more and were always likely to be additions made later in the window. Think we need 4 more players - CD, Striker, RW, and a versatile attacking midfielder/winger type. But we've given ourselves a good headstart this window whereas we usually have it all to do.
  3. Pace, athleticism and power has been the order of the day so far with our 4 new signings (2 imminent). Not counting Forshaw as he just re-signed. The two full backs are athletic and have pace. Probably squad players though. The two midfielders have athleticism and can carry the ball. Tavaers likely a back up, Baradji likely a starter. I don't know if any of them are any good but it's the right type of traits we've been crying out for. We do need a couple of more battle harden championship players to add experience to the squad. And some genuine quality in attacking areas. We need a replacement for Dennis, Weimann, and Dolan up top.
  4. This was only a few weeks ago: https://www.thescottishsun.co.uk/sport/14982266/celtic-transfer-rumour-moussa-baradji/ Decent clubs linked with him previously, so hopefully that's promising!
  5. There have been more reports around Brittain saying things are progressing well. I agree losing both at the same time would be a big blow. I would rather lose Travis than Tronstad.
  6. Talks have happened, I'm sure of that. The players either have demands the club cannot match or they've told the club that they want to go.
  7. I think it's becoming very clear neither Trav or Tronstad will be signing new deals. The noises around Brittain signing a new contract sound more positive though. The fact we're spending good money (by our standards) on central midfielders shows that we expect both Trav and Tronstad to leave, so (a) we need replacements through the door and (b) we can anticipate getting some money from the sale of those two. We just can't keep our best players and haven't been able to do so for some time now. I do think both are replaceable though and Tavares and the Ajax guy, if he comes, would add a bit more youth, agility and technical ability to our CM which wouldn't be a bad thing. For me, the success or failure of the window will come from who we sign in attacking positions. Not fussed about Dolan or Weimann leaving, we need better than those two (but will probably get worse!).
  8. Definitely on board with the Tavares signing. Good pedigree and good age. Think he'll be a good signing. I'm almost certain he'll be the replacement for Travis though.
  9. A league 1 player, most probably where we're heading soon.
  10. It was a miracle season in lots of respects. The quality of the squad is bottom 8 so we did well to avoid a relegation battle, let alone get to the final day with a chance of top 6. Eustace proved he is the best manager in the championship, but there are signs that VI may not be as terrible as first feared. The summer will bring a tiny budget as always and I think we will sell some that only have one year remaining on their contracts. Players like Tronstad and Brittain know they can move onto better things. Dolan will obviously leave. The bottom line is that we are going nowhere (well, not in a positive direction anyway!) with Venky's as owners. Nothing changes there. Best players this season: Trav, Tronstad, Batth Biggest disappointments: Cantwell, Dennis
  11. Fair play to VI, he has turned things around big style over the last 4.5 games. We are looking solid defensively and much, much better going forward than we did under Eustace. We even came from behind to win a game! Hopefully we can tie Batth to a new deal. He's absolutely instrumental to us. If we can keep the defensive nucleus together, which I think we will, and add more attacking quality then we may do ok next season.
  12. Really pleased with the win yesterday. Still not convinced about VI at all, but yesterday was one of our best performances of the season so credit where it's due. And it was against a Millwall team fighting for the play offs. The past 2.5 games have been a lot, lot better. Hopefully things are clicking a little bit.
  13. Numb to the scoreline but, crikey, what a complete mess this club is in. It's very sad to see.
  14. Good that the club came out and did that interview. But the fact of the matter is that this club is declining at an alarming rate and nothing I heard in that interview makes me think that will change. The interviews were fine but the only questions us fans want asked are: Do the owners know that they are at the point of no return with the fans and nothing they can do will change that? Are they aware that the vast majority of fans want them to sell the club? If they do, why are they not putting the club up for sale?
  15. I'm never normally one to call for a manager to go after only a handful of games in charge. But I can already see that the guy is utterly clueless and the players have no idea what they're supposed to be doing. He needs to go. We're stuck with this fraud for three years though. He certainly won't be quitting like JE and JDT did, and we won't be paying him off. What a complete mess again.
  16. This guy is worse than Coyle and only marginally better than Kean. What a rotten appointment. And he's on a 3 year deal! This club is in a huge mess.
  17. The judge is on leave today 😂 Probably booked their leave weeks ago so today was never gonna happen. Crazy idea but could they have perhaps got another judge in place?!
  18. Absolute no from me. I couldn't care if it was a fiver for a season ticket, the utter contempt the owners and board show the fans year on year means they won't get a penny from me. The team will be made up of below par loans and freebies next season, and a bang average manager. There are better ways to spend a Saturday afternoon imo but I respect those that will be renewing.
  19. How can it be adjourned multiple times yet be the last one on the list for the next hearing everytime. Doesn't make any sense. But everything related to Venky's is shambolic so we shouldn't be surprised.
  20. It will be a total non-event. Postponed again, as it will almost indefinitely. The club and the fans are the ones that continue to suffer in the meantime.
  21. The constant talk of "next season" is a total cop out from Ismael. Essentially saying that he shouldn't be judged until next season. Wanting to move back to more of a possession based style of football terrifies me. Yes, we'd all love to play that way but we've seen in JDT's second season you cannot do that with technically inept players. And we cannot afford good technical players. Therefore being hard to beat, well organised, and disciplined is the recipe for success as we saw under Eustace. A lot of players who will be leaving in the summer are not very good so the high number of departures doesn't bother me. However, what we do know is that we will be replacing those poor players with even poorer players because the 'budget' will be non-existent again. We don't even have major young talents coming through to get excited about either. Grim times at this club.
  22. Very worrying times now. The only positive thing at the club was that we had a top, top manager. But now we have shocking owners, a terrible exec team, a dud of a manager, and a very limited set of players. Many players will be out of contract in the summer, many of them not that good anyway, but will almost certainly be replaced with inferior players. The next 12 months will be a dark period for the club.
  23. The guy who got Barnsley in the play offs...
  24. JDT mark II in charge here. Absolutely dreadful manager. Cannot organise a team.
  25. This feels like a performance we were seeing under JDT. Playing some decent stuff going forward without really creating much, yet we look very disorganised defensively and it feels like they could be in every time they attack. Not impressed with this new manager at all. Undone all the defensive organisation Eustace built in less than one month. Dennis has been a real bright spark. A player that won't be here next season though so hard to get too excited by him being the best player on the pitch.
