It's very clear where the problems lie - our attack is toothless. A consequence of a chronic lack of investment in the forward areas over many years. It goes without saying Hedges and Dolan are playing a league above their level. Gueye and Ohashi are handfuls but will never be prolific goalscorers, and Weimann is a good sub but not good enough to start. Duberry and Cantwell are talented players but are not suited to a defensive style of football. Kargbo did look direct and pacy in the few minutes he had yesterday. Someone who at least tries to take on defenders is exactly what we need so that was promising. Dennis could be the answer to our problems but, if he does well, he will move onto better things in the summer and we are back to square one. Pears has done OK this season but is still a very poor GK imo. He's got a very good defence in front of him this season and a well drilled side which is why he's not made as many howlers, but he's an accident waiting to happen every game. Despite being 5th in the league, I look at the bigger picture of where we are as a club right now and we're in a very poor place. No assets, ageing squad, absent owners, players coming out of contract in the summer, and no genuine attacking talent in the squad. Many of us can see that if we continue on this trajectory then we will be playing in league one in the next couple of seasons. Some may say that's ridiculous as we're currently 5th in the league, but the reality is very different once Eustace moves onto better things.

If you don't invest in the transfer market then this is what you get. A very poor squad of players who are now getting very poor results. Not a chance we'll be anywhere near top 6 come the end of the season. Eustace is a top, top manager for getting this squad where it is.

Get some proper attackers on who can actually play football. Kargbo, Cantell, ACD on. Please never start Hedges again. Absolutely woeful.

I'd just about say our window was passable in the end with the addition of Dennis yesterday. And we added some pace to the team with Kargbo, LB cover, and additional championship experience in Woodrow. I guess that ticks all the boxes of what we needed at the beginning of the window. Look around at our competitors for the play off and they've blown us out water again. In fact, pretty much every club spent more than us. We just can't compete financially in this league under these owners. The positive news is that something has to give at some point. Venkys don't want to put anymore money in and we have no assets left to sell. There's only so long the Wharton and Sammie money can keep the club going. Pretty much all of our signings are oldies on short contracts and loan deals. We also don't seem to be handing out new contracts either.

If those two deals get done (IF!) then Rudy has just about pulled it out of the bag. Dennis is a very good signing and the success or failure of this window was going to come down to the striker signing. Woodrow is not great and it would have been abysmal if he was our main signing, but he's better than Hedges who he'll displace. Never seen Kargbo play but he has to be better than Dolan. An attacking line up of Dennis, Woodrow, Cantwell and Kargbo is far > than Gueye, Hedges, Cantwell, and Dolan.

Rumours on twitter we are signing Dennis AND Woodrow. Obviously, only Twitter rumours but we shall see what the next few hours bring

They've still had a better window than us then

Has anyone in the Championship had a worse window than us? That's a genuine question as I've not followed the ins and outs at every club. From the bits I have seen, I struggle to see a club who has had a worse one than us.

Woodrow fits the bill. Cheap, no other championship clubs after him, low wages. Oh and not very good. That one has a big chance of coming off. We are seriously building a midtable league one team here when we're FIFTH in the championship.

Transfer dealings so far: Forshaw (free) Sanderson (loan) Kargbo (£1m) Ribero (free) I hate to continually be negative about our transfer window but I'm appalled by it. Will the LT be brave enough to ask the tough questions to the club after yet another transfer window shambles? Eustace will leave in the summer and I don't blame him for doing so. We're building a midtable league 1 team at present.

We are on the verge of just signing a cover left back, two appalling reserve players from Plymouth and Birmingham, and an unknown from Serie B after brining in £40m in transfer fees. Even by Venkys standards, that us utterly appalling. A lot of excellent business being done by many other clubs in the Championship. It's totally embarrassing what this club has become. Even if we do bring in a striker at this stage, it won't be anyone of any calibre. Personally feel like our striker search is doomed now that Danns has chosen Sunderland.

As many of us predicted last week, all the striker links were simply PR exercises so that the club can trot out the "we tried for some very good strikers" line tomorrow.

Danns expected to go to Sunderland today. Mustafa is surely a no go after scoring yesterday. BTA is in good form at Coventry so that's a no go. They had all month to sign striker and now options are fading fast.

Buckley is a talented player but has no idea how to apply his talent to influence or impact games. He probably never will at this point. Forshaw is absolutely dreadful. Look at what happened when he came on the pitch yesterday and the games he's started for us. We've had no midfield presence at all. He'll be playing in league 2 next season like Fleck. Sanderson is a passable signing given he'll be 4th choice once Carter is back. Kargbo is a strange signing and one that Eustace has made clear "the club" wanted to sign and not him. Overall I'd give our window a 1 out of 10 at the moment. Not good enough at all. Look at Plymouth, Boro, and Millwall. All sold their best player but have heavily re-invested that money back into the squad. Where is the Sammie and Wharton money? Even Wrexham and Huddersfield in league one are outspending us.

The little caveat is that the fax machine does work and they do manage to press send rather than save when it's a player who doesn't cost much money...

Can't help but feel these links to a couple of decent strikers are nothing but PR stunts. They can then trot out the usual "we tried for some very good strikers" line after the window. We then sign a free transfer striker from the Finnish third division in the summer.

He would be a good signing. Certainly a step up from what we have. Not convinced about Kargbo but he has pace at least. I'm confident in saying he's better than Dolan and Hedges even though I've never seen him play.
