  1. Think we will win today being back on home soil and against a Cardiff side that is nose diving into league one. Another club that has been ruined by rogue owners. 2-1 Rovers
  2. I wouldn't totally write him off yet. Yes, his three games in charge have been woeful, no doubt about that, but our form has been shocking since Christmas and we were on the downward spiral before he came in. I think we had several months of "John Useless" last season before he came very good this season. Early signs are very concerning though.
  3. Abysmal and tactically clueless. Hate to say it, but in 12 months time we will be staring league one in the face. The very big signs are there to see on and off the pitch. We are in free fall as a club.
  4. Think he could end up in the MLS next season. Rangers fans were right about him
  5. Cantwell will be off to a club abroad in the summer. He's not up to it and is clearly not enjoying his football either. We cannot afford passengers who are top earners.
  6. Not one to write a manager off after 3 games, but how has he managed to coach any sort of shape, structure and organisation out of this team in less than 3 weeks? Absolutely shocking. We haven't been good offensively for a long time but we have been very organised until now. When a manager has to go with 3 centre halves, it shows they don't know how to organise a team so they throw another defender into the mix. I'm surprised as I thought VI was supposed to be an organiser who made teams hard to beat.
  7. We've gone from one of the best coached teams in the league to this. Eustace is ten times the manager that Ismael will ever be whether we like it or not. Big, big trouble ahead at this club.
  8. Ismael is not impressing so far. Early days but poor team selection, no ideas going forward, poor shape, and defensive frailties that weren't present under Eustace. No surprise we're losing this one.
  9. Decent appointment and one I can get behind. An experienced manager who has had some success in the Championship before. Also not a yes man which I'm pleasantly surprised about as I do think we need a manager who can challenge the board and the owners. One criticism is that his style of football is not great. The style of football under JDT was supposedly great but we lost most weeks; the style of football under Eustace was very poor but it got us into the top 6. I'll take ugly football all day long if it gets results.
  10. He will be soon. Probably tomorrow.
  11. Ismael is an interesting appointment. He's not a bad manager and I expected much worse, but there were better candidates out there so ultimately it's a disappointing choice. He does tick the box of getting teams punching above their weight, like he did at Barnsley, and he didn't do a bad job at Watford or West Brom. He's not a yes man which is interesting. I was sure the board would go for a younger coach who would be happy to toe the line. I can get onboard with his appointment.
  12. It's worked for 2 games when the players are busting a gut to prove a point to Eustace. Lose the next 2 and I suspect no one will be saying he should get the job until the end of the season. Wouldn't be the right decision imo.
  13. Seems like Boateng and Luis Boa Morte have thankfully been ruled out as serious candidates for the main job, but may be considered for a coaching role. For me, Wicky is the one that stands out from the list of options at the moment. Has done well at Young Boys and Basel in the past and seems to get teams punching above their weight, which is what we need. The success of foreign coaches at QPR, Sheffield W, and Sunderland suggests a manager doesn't need championship experience in this league. I'd actually argue those are 3 of the best managers in the league right now.
  14. I could see a big name like Gerrard appealing to the owners. They've always craved a big name at the club going back to the nonsensical days of thinking they had a chance of signing Ronaldinho etc. There's no way the board will want Gerrard though, they'll want someone they can easily control.
  15. Great result! Three wins out of four now. The big reason for that = the return of Lewis Travis. No doubt about that. One of the best midfielders in the league this season. January signings made a big difference today. Sanderson was solid, Forshaw had his best game so far, and Kargbo & Ribiero look class. We still have arguably our best player to come back (Tronstad), Dennis and Ohashi to boost the attacking ranks, Beck and Carter to boost the defensive ranks. Things could be getting interesting...
  16. 100% he needs to be given a contract at the end of the season. He is a proven performer at this level so it's no fluke he's hit the ground running.
  17. That should hopefully be it. Big three points! I really like the look of Kargbo and Ribiero. Very shrewd signings.
  18. Should we not just name this thread "Didier Drogba". Absolutely unplayable at the moment.
  19. Not a chance Gerrard gets it. I think he'd be decent but he wouldn't settle for mediocrity and he'd kick up a fuss if the board didn't back him. They don't want another one of those after JDT and Eustace.
  20. Richie Wellens would tick a lot of boxes for the board. It's a job beyond his skillset and experience so he'd be 'grateful' to have the job and wouldn't kick up a fuss with the chaos behind the scenes and lack of investment. He'll also be on low wages. I don't think it will be anyone with any standing in the game as they'll be off within a year just like Eustace. They don't need to put up with a shambles of a club like this. Although I'm sure the likes of Gerrard, Edwards etc would fancy it in the short term to get back into work before moving on, just like Eustace did. Personally, I think Carsley will get it and they'll trot out the "he's good with developing young players" line. At this point, with no assets left to sell, they are probably looking for a Head Coach who can develop the next assets to sell on. That will be the focus.
  21. One big positive from that game: Kargbo looks good.
  22. Sick of this club. Cheap and cheerful players all over the pitch. Toth is absolutely dreadful.
  23. The next manager will be cheap and cheerful, and someone who is willing to toe the line and work under huge restrictions. That won't therefore be anyone of any credibility.
  24. His last game in charge today. I wish him well. I don't blame him at all for leaving. If us fans didn't have the club firmly soaked in our hearts then we'd leave too! As I've said many times on this forum, not many of us are fooled by our current position. The fundamentals are as weak as anyone in the league and we are headed for league one soon.
  25. We're a shambles of a club so Eustace will leave sooner or later. He probably will join Derby which says everything about the current state of the club.
