  1. Buckley will be a player and have a good career here. Davenport may well turn out to be a good player but I fully expect him to be shipped out in Jan. He won't get a look in here now. Same with Chapman.
  2. A big mention for Williams and JRC today. Williams is like a completely different player this season and it has to be him + Lenihan or Ayala. He's not as aggressive in his play as Lenhian but he reads the game far better. He always seems to be in the right place at the right time and expertly covers when our LB is caught out of position. JRC has impressed me at RB this season. I'm not convinced he's good enough to play in one of the wide attacking roles like he did on the opening day, but he's certainly good enough at RB. What an amazing ball to put Ben clean through for the pen. He suits our "play on the front foot" style of play more than Nyambe does. Nyambe will still have a huge role to play this season though.
  3. Ben played like a £10m player today. He needs to work on his finishing but he was outstanding. Without doubt his best performance in a Rovers shirt. Harvey Elliot came to life in the second half and comes away with a goal and assist. Very impressive all round.
  4. Breo, JRC, Holtby were all outstanding. Need a second goal though and then it’s game over.
  5. I can see why JRC has come in for Nyambe. I think we’ve missed his attacking play down the right since he’s been out.
  6. Yes! I like that team a lot.
  7. We have to win this one and I think we will. Trybull for Evans and Williams for Ayala are the two changes I expect. Bell will cling onto his place. Coventry 0 - Rovers 3. Armstrong to get a couple.
  8. I thought Armstrong was very cavalier with his finishing last night and was looking for a spectacular goal for the highlights reel. When Elliot put him clean through he would have been far better trying to take it round the GK rather than going for the spectacular chip. He’s an ok penalty taker but if the GK guesses the right way then his pens are always a nice height for the GK. Compare that to pens taken by Mulgrew or Dack who put them bang in the corner of the net.
  9. I do agree that it’s a results business and if we’re still playing well and not getting results in another half a dozen games I will be concerned, but I think it’s too early to scrutinise results after 6 games. I remember our first season in this division after relegation and we were picking up good early results despite poor performances, but the poor performances caught up with us in the end and we ended up nearly being relegated. Look at last year, Charlton made a storming start but ended up being relegated. This fixture list can also skew the true levels of different teams - we’ve played two newly relegated teams away from home and also played 2 of the top 7 from last season. Even Derby away is not an easy fixture at all. Add to the mix that we’ve not even been able to get our best team on the pitch yet and we’ve not done too badly. Time for Douglas and Trybull to come into the team, and bring Williams back into the left side of the defence to give us more balance. A midfield three of Holtby, Johnson, and Evans is way too pedestrian to be successful. Rothwell, Trybull, and Holtby would give us what we need in there.
  10. I think that reflects the nature of this league. With games happening thick and fast, you can be sitting pretty one minute and then 3 games later you can plummet down the league. Conversely, 3 good results in a week and things look very rosy.
  11. Incredibly tough game and one I expected to lose. They are my tip to win the league. Elliot looked very good in flashes, Trybull looked lively and made some lovely cross field passes, Holtby was class throughout, and Breo caused them problems. Our left side was so weak. Evans looks well off the pace and Bell has never been good enough. The last three games have been incredibly frustrating but there's enough there to suggest we're going to have a good season. Two of the toughest away games now out of the way in Watford and Bournemouth. Forest and Cardiff will be promotion contenders too so we've had a tough set of fixtures to start with.
  12. Evans and Johnson are too pedestrian to play together.
  13. Bring on Trybull and Douglas and get them up to speed for the next game.
  14. How we’re losing and they still have 11 men on the pitch, I’ll never know. We’ve played incredibly well but it looks a bit too easy for them to get in behind our back 4. Great goal from Breo. I had assumed it had hit the side netting until the players started celebrating!
  15. One of the toughest games of the season tonight. I’d take a draw right now, but sadly I think we’ll lose.
  16. I think Elliot will start tonight. We’ll need a bit of magic to breakdown their defence and he’s certainly got the ability to produce a bit of magic. No chance Buckley will play after his display at the weekend.
  17. Boring game. Poor result. Fluke goal. New players are here. We move on.
  18. Surprised to see Fisher go permanently but he looked well off it in pre-season.
  19. Game changing window. Harvey Elliot - the coup of the day. Didn't expect that one at the start of the day. Overall, I'd say us and Forest have been the biggest winners in this window and look very strong. Forest have made some cracking signings. Brentford have probably been the biggest losers.
  20. I have no idea what the first choice 11 will be when everyone is fit. That's a great sign.
  21. Harvey will play. No way Liverpool would have let him come here without some kind of verbal promise that Harvey will get game time, especially as they had no intention of letting him go until TM put up a strong case. Him and Dolan will compete for the right attacking spot. The signings today probably spell the end for Davenport and Chapman.
  22. Not bad for a window where at the beginning of it we were told (as per every window) there was no money to spend.
  23. What a day. No doubt we’ve got one of the best squads in the league now. Forget a top 6 push, we should be pushing for top 2. I don’t think that’s an exaggeration either.
  24. Versatile back up option. He won’t be on big wages this time around.
