  1. Yeah---forgot about him!
  2. Its several years since we signed Dack now. Similar with Rothwell. I'd be amazed if we could get players of that quality for £750000. I also said IF he was as good as Sparks says he is. That's it from me on this.
  3. I'm not arguing any of that. You're missing my point which is that transfer fees from the lower divisions have risen considerably since we signed Dack. At his age, and if Whiteman's as good as Sparks says he is the £2M doesn't seem excessive. You can't pay £750000 anymore. And £2M is better than £7M if we're gambling.
  4. Once again, 750k now is not the same as 750k when Dack was signed. Transfer fees have risen exponentially since then It doesn't help the discussion when posters don't compare apple with apples.
  5. Rothwell tough enough to play there? I don't want to be over-cautious but that side looks too attacking for me! Shudder to think of TM" reaction!
  6. Well I said that. The point I'm making is that we did have that problem 2 years ago when we signed him----presumably to do something about it! 2 years wasted----unless you're a fan of TM's "gradualist approach." And--he still doesn't score many. Having said all that, at last he's a contributor, a major one so far this season which he has never remotely been till now.
  7. He played centre when he first came on loan to us and scored 12 goals (I think)---the most productive time of his career in terms of what strikers are supposed to do. Didn't play on the wing then as I recall. We are ruining him. He's not great but he's not as bad as he is currently showing.
  8. I read somewhere that Arsenal have had a total of 75 shots all season whereas Armstrong has 55 shots on his own.
  9. it isn't this season! But it has been over the last 2 years where we had to rely in Dack till he got injured.
  10. As Derby are proving!
  11. In any case we paid £7M then not now. Been a lot of transfer inflation since then.
  12. Its disingenuous in any case to try to make a direct link between transfer money available and inevitable success eg your team can't make it unless it has more money than the other clubs. Look at how far Howard Kendall took us on nowt.
  13. Did Bale spend 2 seasons looking like he couldn't get in a pub team? Did Spurs have little money for transfers and gambled most of it on him? Were they desperate to get back in the Premiership? Not sure there's a comparison to be had there.
  14. It is and we're being primed for injuries as the reason it didn't work out.
  15. Would you appoint an ex-Dingle Dyche? I would. We've had this discussion before---what's Burnley got to do with it? Cutting our nose off to spite our face! Cook should be considered on his merits. ( I haven't really formed any view of Cook by the way, I'm still assuming we'll have TM forever.)
  16. Any player who cost that much and takes 2 years to get going is a bad buy.
  17. Johnson is an enigma. Looks a world beater at times---1st game against Charlton and recent game at Derby readily come to mind. I'm sure there's plenty more but equally there are many games where he never show's up. Looks very slow and unmotivated and the game seems to pass him by. In short I don't ever feel he can be relied on.
  18. We should play with 2 upfront. A big, traditional striker who could knock it down for him or hold it up, with 2 genuine wingers to whip it in---we'd score heaps! I recognise the wingers would have to track back and all that but what a joy that would be.
  19. Could well be the case. If we got a big fee, if Mowbray was allowed to spend all of it, if he spent it wisely, I wouldn't worry. Lot of "ifs" though.
  20. That through ball from Elliott for the second goal was sublime--Duggiesque for those old enough to remember. There is no higher praise than that! And great to see Brereton involved in the build-up.
  21. No, not by any means. Im happy we won.please don't try to spoil it.
  22. Quietly satisfied myself!
  23. Of course you're happy with your opinion---tautology. And you are entitled to it. However what you should not be doing is saying that that your's is the opinion of those who know what they're talking about. That clearly implies that anyone not agreeing with you does not know their football. That is wrong, arrogant and provocative and you should cease.
