  1. I think the new intensity is the key. We used to take forever to get from one end of the pitch to another. We sat back, we didn't stop opponents in their own half. I believe this is the big difference. It means we have to include the ballplayers who can cope going forward at speed and it means keeping very fit. We will get injuries of the muscle strain/tear variety eg Travis, Rankin-Costello so a bigger squad is essential unless we can safely rely on the young ones.
  2. NOBODY is trying to minimise our last 2 results as some are implying. Why should we? i'm absolutely ecstatic. However, I'm trying to keep a lid on it because there were 2 very poor teams and the table after 2 games is likely not to reflect the table on the final day. Well if there were such pundits they were very misguided. We can only beat the teams we're up against, I know that and I'm excited at what we are producing but I'm not counting my chickens yet.
  3. I've got bad memories of Steele so I try not to remember him! But surely he wasn't as consistently accurate as Kaminski was yesterday? That pass to Armstrong was magnificent and so close to being a goal.
  4. Look, I was a big fan of Hughes's team when we bullied soft teams off the park. Its just that Lenihan is rather indiscriminate and we can't afford to lose him. If it were nil-nil in the last minute fair enough.
  5. Don't worry, Tony will pick Dack when he's fit and you'll support it!
  6. Kaminski's distribution was awesome, a feature of his game. I honestly can't remember when we had a keeper with that accuracy, certainly none with more
  7. In front of the ref, incredibly obvious, there was another defender available, 3-0 up? We will miss Lenihan when he's suspended.
  8. Does anyone else think Lenihan was a complete prat to pick up that yellow card?
  9. Great feeling to have won 2 in a row in such style but let's not get carried away too early eh? We've probably played the worst 2 sides in the division in succession. One of my mates is a Derby supporter and he's been telling me all summer that he expects relegation this season. They were a shambles. Winning is a habit and builds confidence so we should continue to feel this effect going into the game against Cardiff. That's the true value of a win such as this.
  10. I guess everything been said! However (!)----Unsteady start---should have been one down, liked the way we were "into them" rather than standing off and waiting, Kaminski was immense---such a pleasure to see a keeper assured enough to use so much of the pitch, Brereton---part of it all at last and so unlucky not to score, Johnson----that's some shot he has on him, Dolan---how did we get him?
  11. I always worry when a team is having a bad run and their next game is us.
  12. Davenport has been with us for 2+ years now and hasn't started a game. I can't see any logical reason for optimism over him but hey-ho he could conceivably come good at some point. Probably when his contacts up knowing our luck.
  13. So your first post was about "having" someone you disagreed with?
  14. He's another one where you wonder why we signed him.
  15. Sorry----not to worry!
  16. Its not my figure though! It was used by Paul to justify Waggot's wages. It seems we're paying the average for CEO but players are way below it----according to Paul.
  17. But you also quoted the average for player wages and we don't meet that do we? There's the weakness in your argument.
  18. Don't disagree with that. He has to be handled carefully, we can rely on Mowbray to do that at least!
  19. Well you're in the know----what's the average wage at Ewood these days? I'll bet its nowhere near £1.5M. And they wouldn't give Warnock £1M as I recall.
  20. At the end of last season, the consensus on here was that we needed 6 new players. I think we lost 7? Specifically identified were goalkeeper (2), left-back, Centre-backs (2) and a midfielder, winger or striker, depending on you point of view. We've got 1 keeper, an 18 year old from Preston on a free in a position not identified as required (nevertheless, hell of a good signing) and one centre-back. The squad is very thin, especially in defence and we have 2 strikers who don't strike and one who does. Injuries and suspensions could wreck our season. We need to pull out all the stops before deadline day and our multi-billionaire owners need to put some cash down. If they don't, and i know they've been let down by some signings----what's the point of them? If they don't trust those in situ to make the right decisions-----replace them.
  21. Yes but he major one imo was the manager. His transfer deals, his baffling selections, tactics, subs, playing players out of position etc. If there was any one reason, it was at his door.
  22. That was a fairly common assessment on here after the season finished and i think it was one you agreed with?
  23. Hang on. Are you saying Mr Cautious has been converted between seasons and has emerged as Mr Positive (or Mr Reckless if you prefer). Doesn't compute with me, against everything he's done since he's been here. Mowbray would love it if we won games 1-0, he's just not able to achieve it.
  24. https://footballleagueworld.co.uk/blackburn-rovers-facing-transfer-conundrum/ Seems to rule it out for me.
