Looks like they'll get a reasonable 1st innings lead though. They seem to be finding batting easier and easier at this point.
-
It should be a top 6 squad wth the time and money he's had but he's made a horrible mess of it. Well done for accepting he has to go though.
-
Which other teams have 1 point from the last 21?

Can't see any role for Bairstow in Test Cricket. The only place for him is as keeper and batting at 6 and England have obviously decided we have a better keeper than him On these pitches facing spinners he's out of his depth as a batsman, its sad to watch him.

And despite spending £12M we still don't have a centre-forward. -

You're right about that, thanks to Mowbray's priorities But I can't get impressed that he "scored a cracking header against Blackpool in the pre-season". Team is trying out for a structure as opposed to players just being chucked in in the wrong positions and Armstrong badly needs a tall partner upfront to knock it down to him. But I seriously doubt we have anybody. Certainly give Brereton the chance, we have nothing to lose right now. its nightmare up there, no wonder we can't score. -

Brereton might be the best option we have up there but that's another indictment of Mowbray. Brereton doesn't have the abilities of a traditional centre-forward eg heading. However, anything is worth a try at the moment because the current line-up is impotent. -

TBF he did once head it off the line and prevented a certain goal. I don't remember him doing anything else positive. He also had his supporters on here at the time who saw things the rest of us couldn't! -

Bang on. Stuff the pseudo science and find us a goal-scoring centre-forward----a big one! -

We had lots of possession but nothing happened where it matters. Only need 1 goal to beat us these days. Mind-numbing as ever. -

The real seriousness of it is hidden once again. 0-1 looks close, we could have been unlucky. But it wasn't and we weren't. We now have twin problems---we make mistakes at the back and we can't score. I hope the club doesn't sleepwalk into relegation thinking we'll inevitably get enough points to stay up. Right now I can't see where the points will come from. We had our slices of good fortune in January. -
Only if he didn't change the squad.....He could set up a defence.
-
When will the journey end?
-
I never suggested Magloire or Carter should be first picked. The discussion was about the squad.
-
You may be right, you may be wrong. My fear is that with Mowbray we may never know.
-
Agree with that. Just keeping our own out.
-
Which ,of course I never said!

Mols having a trial at Burnley. I've just noticed this story. Have I missed something or is this new?
-
He's unusual though eh?

We've already got 3 teenagers starting games and they aren't even our's! What's the use of it! 22 is not a kid. You should be ready for first team football at that age or even earlier.
-
We've signed Ayala permanently so he'll always be in the frame. But his injury record shows he will rarely be in the team. A very poor signing. Other than that you're saying what I'm saying and I agree with you!

Magloire is playing well for Motherwell though. Its hard to make the comparison but I imagine, apart from Rangers and Celtic, that League is somewhere between Championship and League 1. But you've said it yourself, Wharton surprised by how well he played when he got the chance. And he was loaned to lower league clubs wasn't he? You can't take the opportunity if you are not given it. Branthwaite is 18 and playing like it!. There would still be plenty of players with experience--Lenihan,Dack, Rothwell,Kaminski, Travis, Holtby. On another point, don't be conned by this "losing by the odd goal" bit. If you are 3-1 down and you score a 2nd in the 90th minute, the scores are close but the game wasn't. And we've had plenty lately where the narrow margin flattered us. Anyway, perhaps we can agree that a better manager would handle these kids better than Mowbray could. It seems to me our young players only make their debut when there's no choice left.
