  1. How much filler in those lips?
  2. Kean against Wigan? Gross dereliction of duty if you were there!
  3. It makes you wonder if he had problems "settling in" leaving home parents and friends, new area, new workmates etc.
  4. I cringed when I read that. Brereton has received huge sympathy and encouragement over 2 seasons from the fans. Especially given his performances. If he's turning the corner now all Rovers fans are delighted. Should never have been signed though at that time of need and with that fee. But, as you say, that's nothing to do with him.
  5. A couple of 1-0 results against top sides with 11 men would do wonders for my morale!
  6. Just got this email from a mate of mine: The last time the Rovers scored more than 16 in the first seven games of a season before this year was in the 1997-98 campaign when they knocked in 18, mainly because of 7 at home to Sheffield Wednesday. Chris Sutton scored 7 in the first 7 that year, a figure that Adam Armstrong has just equalled and other famous names also cracked in 7 in other previous seasons. These are Alan Shearer, Simon Garner, Andy McEvoy, Derek Dougan, Peter Dobing and Tommy Briggs but we have to go back to 1954-55 to find Eddie Quigley scoring 8 in the first 7 games. Roll on Tuesday against Reading when other notable performances may be achieved.
  7. At that time, and since, we needed a striker not an investment. This is about money, My angle is football.
  8. Hardly a true comparison then?
  9. And Brereton was so we paid £7M for him. Have I got that right?
  10. We're tenth by virtue of goal difference. Wycombe and Derby in relegation trouble, Coventry 10 men. Don't overegg the pud just yet.
  11. Ronnie Clayton made his first team debut at the age of 16 and became the England captain! I don't know what that has to do with anything---I just like it!
  12. Yes, brilliant comment---well done!
  13. Just trying to imagine the furore there would have been if we'd signed Jordan Rhodes for £7M only to be told not to expect much from him till the third season with us! Agree with comment above, it looks like he was bought to improve and cash in.
  14. More a goalmisser in fact.
  15. And you're illustrating why this was never a good buy. In the situation we were, it was crazy to spend all that money on a player who might come good in 2 or 3 years. We needed a striker who was up for it from day one, whereas we've been carrying him for 2 seasons till now.
  16. Nowhere to hide with this game.Nothing other than a win is acceptable.
  17. Even now he's asking about being "around Top 6"! FFS---how long does he want?
  18. God, I’d go down there and carry him to Elwood myself! A manager who would definitely get us promoted and keep us there and break Burnley hearts as well? What Rovers fan could not get sweaty over that?
  19. Is one thing signing players, its another thing making them into a team. Time after time TM shows he's not very good at it. If he came out and said he will never play Gally or Brereton wide again it would be a start. Every time he does it, I think "we could have had a dangerous winger out there".
  20. We hear this every season too! We never hear about teams that were at or near the top after the early games and went down though!
  21. Well our strikers did cost so much money didn't they? Without being top though.
  22. He makes the same mistakes he's always made but somehow people expect different outcomes. Every season starts with great enthusiasm and every season ends the same. We have a potentially good side and given a fair run with injuries we should be up there pushing. If it doesn't work this time he's had it. By the way, do we have more injuries than everyone else or what?
  23. And yet we lost! Statistics eh? Can you really play well except where it really counts?
  24. A really interesting viewpoint regarding Shearer's injury in 1992-3: https://www.lancs.live/sport/football/football-news/blackburn-rovers-manchester-united-title-19136255
  25. Or alternatively you could actually read the thread before posting, at which point you'd have realised your post was unnecessary?
