I'll never understand the £7M bit. Its not as if we were having to fight off competition. I don't think Mowbray's got the hang of it----we bid low when others are interested and high when nobody else is bidding!
-
I don't agree with that. Whatever Dack offers in midfield could never make up for our defensive failings. As for Evans he seldom has a run of good games but he is injured a lot.
-
The key word in your sentence is "if"! We can always judge him after one more season but then that = Infinity eventually.
-
Those are the usual niceties which managers extend to one another.
-
Its not Championship material!
-
He wasn't useless.
-
We want the manager and his associates to do their jobs like the fans do theirs every day, on way less pay. The frustration comes because they are not doing theirs and we know the club will suffer as a result.
-
Well of course you are quite right and I totally agree with you that Mowbray is not the worst manager we've had!
-
I suspect Burnley fans would like TM to continue indefinitely! (Just as I'd like Dyche to decide to spend more time with his family!)
-
Tbf you're showing that one club is having similar problems and you've cited them before.
-
Who did?
-
Because you were trying to use an illegitimate point to discredit what I was saying. But I'm pleased that you agree the comparison reflects badly on Mowbray.
-
Quite right. The thread was about clubs who have got promotion, or in Btrentford's case just missed out, while spending less than we have. Which, I contend, means they are better managed and reflects badly on Mowbray that he's never even got near top 6.
-
So then, its about the quality of the manager which is what I was on about from the start!
-
We can't afford to spend £25M because Mowbray would turn it into £5M.
-
Terribly loaded comparison, as we've come to expect!
-
I've never heard £4M on Raya but they've spent better than we did eh? £15M on 3 strikers and nix on defence!
-
Well that's 3 then! But what about Josh King and Shane Duffy? Players sold while Bowyer was manager went for £16M (including £nil for King) and we paid out a total of £2M to bring players in! In his 2 full seasons as manager we finished 8th and 9th. Needless to say Mowbray has never achieved this. Some of our current players have been found insufficient for Championship level too haven't they despite costing the millions Bowyer never had?
-
Thank God for that in our case! We need a new manager and a new set-up. Chaddy harked back to Hughes'period, I'd like to see that! Didn't even pay £900000 for Samba did we?
-
You come off it. He's spent way more than Dyche, even allowing for transfer inflation. The difference is Dyche is a terrific manager, He had all the hurdles to face that you list above but he did it in about the same time as Mowbray has had. And I repeat, we are nowhere near! Did Brentford spend a fortune?---they messed it up on the last day but that's "luxury" for us.
-
Why would I????? Sounds great! When will it happen?
-
You only deal in extremes I think! Mowbray has been here for around 3.5 years now. If he was a good manager, given the amount he's spent on players we ought to have been promoted by now? Or at least been in the mix. We have never got close. Its not a matter of him never doing anything wrong or never doing anything right, its a matter of looking at our progress under him over that period. Its glacial isn't it? We are as far away from the Premier League as ever. Bowyer found way more bargains than Mowbray did but they were sold under him. Dyche had Burnley up in the time Mowbrey's been here or very close. Time to critically assess the Club under Mowbray rather than just reacting in provocative bewilderment all the time. I believe , on all the evidence, that he will never get us up. For you, it really is a matter of how long you are prepared to give him, assuming there's a Club left by then.
-
What happened to a dedicated team of people who know what they're doing getting their research/preparation done a few months ago and being ready for the Transfer Window? Why always scrambling around at the last minute and ending up with those at the bottom of any list. It doesn't need in-depth research to know that we needed defenders urgently. Its going to be yet another season of limping along somewhere in mid-table----if we're lucky. And its killing the Club.
-
His demeaner at the end of last season and what fans have reported in the friendlies, suggests something is amiss there.

Bless you! (bugger I'm a bit late with this aren't I?)
