Much to their regret I'm sure!
-
I think he's played 21 games for Lincoln/Bury this season. Interestingly he's played 6 times for Bury and scored 2 goals----that's 2 more than Brereton!
-
The thing is Wharton might be fed-up being shunted out every season and prefer to tale his own chances with another club. One criticism of TM that resonates with is that he takes too long to give promising youngsters their chance. Presumably all part of the "esprit de coeur" he tries to create. Translation-----too loyal to his senior players when they don't produce.

Nothing wrong with the budget, just the players we bought with it. -
Eh? My memory is that in Woy's time (I think) Filan was chosen ahead of Flowers and Flowers left for Leicester. Is my memory faulty (again)?

I think you've got the dubious pleasure K-Hod! I'll bet he argues about the weather!

Well I could wriggle out of it by saying that won't be an issue because he'll be off in the summer! But you have raised a genuine issue there which I've thought about before. He could have a free licence to wander all over the pitch behind the front two but that could well leave us vulnerable in defence. So improve the quality of the defence! However, if he's going to make it big-time, maybe he needs to add new strings to his bow and improve his own defensive game. Best I can do I'm afraid. I do know that leaving Graham up-front on his own isn't the answer to our problems. It's sterile. -

We should play with two up front. Anyone would think we were an Italian club of the seventies looking for an away draw. Armstrong could feed off Graham but we'll never know. -

Of course I could. If you're too lazy to google it why should I do it for you? I'd guess there would be around 15 teenagers playing in the Championship but you'll have to find out for yourself. The real point is being obscured though----Brereton is not playing in the Championship and the transfer fee was a reported £7m! I'd guess there are teenagers playing regularly and they cost nothing. If you don't see this as a dumb deal. there's nothing more I can say. -
Improve some players, no-one denies that. But others fall by the wayside and Biz knows that really.

There are loads. Do what everyone else does--JFGI! -
How do you work this out? What natural law is in place that states that young players "can only get better"? Why the eternal optimism? On what is it based? Football is littered with young players who seemed to have the world at their feet but tailed off and never "made it". You cannot possibly state with any assurance which way Raya will go. For me he should be replaced as senior goal-keeper at this stage.

I noticed yesterday that Doncaster Rovers charge £30 a season ticket for those 17 and under. Splendid way to get them in I thought. It is only League 1 of course but they are pressing for a play-off place. In any case the game was more entertaining than what is usually served up at Ewood!

I was going to write that he talks more sense than you but, on reflection, he doesn't!
-
For God's sake, those quotes just prove how clueless he's become! We on this MB knew that and not with hindsight either.

Much will depend on where he spends it, if he gets it. 2 terrific centre-backs or 1 Brereton? -
Mowbray's post-match comments, as quoted by the BBC are utterly astounding. he says the results have been terrible but the team hasn't! Apparently its all because we have lost Lenihan to injury. Apparently we have no-one else who can "get the first ball". Bloody incredible! If we are that desperate for one player to be available, why didn't TM recruit another centre-back in January as most of us were pleading for him to do? Worse why did he release Downing, the only other traditional and dependable central defender we had? Doesn't make any sense, I voted "reassess in summer" too but that quote is pushing me to one logical conclusion---he is not the man to take us upwards, forwards "yes", we'll probably get enough points to stay up again, "upwards" no,I don't think so anymore.
-
Now 1 point out of the 6! Don't know what you're trying to prove here! We're the ones going backwards aren't we?
-
Signed 4 players I believe. We stood still.
-
Good old Biz, you've had a good rest I take it? 7M quid in the hope of potential! Not what 7 points ahead of us Preston did is it? Not as if we needed defenders either!

Against all logic I'm forecasting 1-1. -
I knew hindsight would come into it sooner or later! Disrespectful towards those who didn't need hindsight to know the Brereton deal stank.
-
Might be time for Wharton?
-
That is so logical, its no wonder it was never tried! Armstrong could be a good foil for Graham. You don't have to be a big bloke to score goals as Speedie and Gallacher showed. One of Armstrong's strength is his ability to get a quick shot away under pressure. And its about time Graham had someone to knock the ball down to! And Chapman to supply the crosses. I'd love to see that tried, sick of players like Armstrong not able to give of their best because they are in the wrong position. I'm sick of seeing players on the bench or not even making the bench when their supposed betters are allowed to fail over and over again. We are all (?) agreed the summer transfer has to be a big one if we are to avoid a relegation battle next season. I suspect the number of players needed would terrify Venkys but if we played players in their best positions and put some youngsters in as well, that would negate the need for mass transfers. Something fundamental has to change unless we are to go backwards again.
