  1. The trouble is that we are all prisoners of Venkys. We all know what we need but our experience with the confused ones is that's not what we are likely to get. Its highly likely that TM will be here long after we've all given up on him.
  2. Especially if we pick a side like that v Reading.
  3. What about those who could have started and didn't? Like Reed and Rothwell?
  4. Who we sign is obviously very important but its who we select that is worrying me more. That starting line-up had LOSS written all over it and I did not require any degree of hindsight to reach that conclusion. That view was common on here before the game started and I repeat "if we can see it why can't TM? If it was Kean we'd be asking questions.
  5. What sickens me is the starting line-up. There was an overwhelmingly negative response to it on here and we were absolutely right! I just don't get what TM is playing at. We can see that wouldn't work, why couldn't he? Are we going to use the rest of the season as an experiment in the belief that we can't go down? What possible incentive is there for fans to turn up?
  6. He said before the game that this season was all about consolidating our place in the Championship. Shocking lack of ambition. If your team has a chance of promotion surely you go for it?
  7. Expecting Preston to go above us tonight.
  8. Be a bloody miracle if we get out of this without heavy defeat No Reed Linehan Dack Graham Nyambe or Rothwell! He's a genius if we win this one!
  9. as in "put it on a plate for them"!
  10. Don't remember that Den but we can settle on "committed"! What always surprised me was that he had the speed when he needed it. To look at him you wondered where it came from!
  11. 2 very good points there. A special offer now when there is nothing to play for. Would make sense if we had strengthened the squad and were genuine play-off contenders. Secondly, in the past the club has referred to not wanting to offend existing season-ticket holders by making offers to non-season ticket holders. Never understood such a curmudgeonly attitude personally. Fill the ground and get the team going.
  12. And he was a real star . A genuine get, you off the seat centre-forward who was the best in the country when he went to Everton. Watched his transition from left-back to striker with utter amazement. He just didn't seem right for the position, not agile enough, too "bulky". I soon found out I was wrong though. Along with the others he gave me among the best moments of my life. Left the best defenders in Div 1 trailing in his wake. Very sad news.
  13. Venkys could pay his airfare for a start!
  14. "left to spend more time with his family" ho ho ho!! Obviously missed taking the dog out every night!
  15. We have conceded more goals away from home than any other team in the division, that's more than Ipswich, more than Bolton or Rotherham. You could call that entertaining I suppose but for everybody else unfortunately!
  16. Chaddy---aren't we very boring much of the time? Isn't TM a very cautious manager, arguably negative? He just isn't very good at defending, ironically. When we criticise other teams for being boring and other managers for being negative, I don't think we argue from a very strong position.
  17. It does seem very likely. Transfer windows closed, what other side of things are they vaguely interested in?
  18. watch repairs?!!
  19. We wouldn't make a judgement on the basis of one game surely? Overall, he hasn't done enough this season to deserve his contract extension.Too much loyalty to the squad that won us promotion. We have players who are great in training and players who are good value in the changing rooms. How about we pay due attention to the pitch?
  20. Absolutely not! I've got the last word on that thread!
  21. He has done a sterling job but he has failed to strengthen the defence and he has not got a ready replacement for the inevitable times when Graham isn't able to play. We have conceded 46 goals and have a -minus goal difference. Only Ipswich (bottom) and Rotherham (4th from bottom) have conceded more. I can't believe that people can dismiss this when we've committed to £7M for a striker who, to put it mildly, is not ready for the first team. So, great job BUT........
  22. But ,in the end, he well and truly earned it! Great guy.
  23. I'd agree but some good'uns would miss out, notably Matt Woods and Kevin Moran. W've been blessed over the years with centre-backs that held the side together. We''ve also had great keepers, even in the bad years.
  24. There is for me though!!
