  1. Football has followed the money. The southeast is the most prosperous area these days and these former little clubs with virtually no history have taken the place of formerly great clubs. Today's reality. Read the other day that the average net household income in Blackburn is just over 12000 quid! Average for the country as a whole is over 19000!. Puts the price of a season ticket into perspective doesn't it?
  2. limited funds available, has to be spread around?
  3. Your moniker is confusing me! My eyes aren't great these days and it always looks like Pornster to me! Sorry!
  4. They presumably have their reasons and that's good enough for me.
  5. Bit condescending? If that's where they wanted to be who are you to say they're bizarre?
  6. Of course they had to spend money-----to keep the club afloat after all they did to destroy it. As for your second sentence, what does it mean? They've borrowed against their assets---serve them right.
  7. Most of our fans are not fickle, certainly no more so than any other set of fans. Given what we have been through these last few years I'd say that the fans' loyalty has been awesome.
  8. We could even become a yo-yo club for a few seasons like Burnley. ie get promoted, spend the minimum and collect the parachute money and get promoted again. So long as we got stronger every year till our Premier League place was more assured, I could cope. However Bob, the issue is the Raos. Are they steady enough to have a plan and stick with it for a number of years? Nothing we've seen so far gives me any confidence about that. The best plan for me would be for them to get us back in the Premier League and sell. Good riddance.
  9. I don't know where to start with this but if you buy a Premier League club and turn it into a Div 1 club you can expect to run up big debts. Not as much as the Raos have but, then again, they are in a class of their own in that regard. I don't know the exact size of the debt but I do know it hasn't been spent making us better. Fact And while I haven't done the sums, I suggest sales exceeded expenditure after Kean (or Voldemort as i prefer) so they actually haven't spent money at all in the sense that you imply.
  10. Utterly ridiculous.. Its our team and I want to see the best players possible in each position. And Conway's run with us imo has come to an end. If he plays and stays I know he'll do his best but on the basis of last season, he won't be good enough. Whether I know the terms offered or not (and I certainly don't expect to) is irrelevant, I would prefer to use his wage on someone else. I'm left wondering how supporters are supposed to react to things about the club they don't like. Are they supposed to just turn up and cheer anyway without passing comment? And what's the point of a Message Board if you can't speak your mind about anything Rovers? Why are you on here if you are not interested in what fans think? You seem to want a sanitised world that I don't recognise.
  11. Because its OUR TEAM and we want them to do well?
  12. If Mowbray wants to keep Conway then, of course Chaddy approves! Ignore the fact that he's 33 and had a poor season in Div 1, he will be reborn in August! This does not show the ambition we are all looking for.
  13. Or if they are to be sold on it should be when they are worth something, not the peanuts the ultra rich Premier League clubs would like to give us when they're 17.
  14. There's pages of Chaddy's stuff as well---more probably than the two you've picked on.. But I don't care because its a MESSAGE BOARD!
  15. Net money? Or are you forgetting the sales?
  16. Yep! They'll be @#/? themselves down The Bridge!
  17. Just to put this into a different context, Abramovitch is owed 1.5 billion quid by Chelsea! That's what he lent them interest free, repayable at short notice. I don't suppose he will seek it back but who would want that hanging over their club? Football has been ruined. most clubs are at the mercy of some individual these days. Compare the German League. I know which i prefer.
  18. No way will Venkys fund transfers to gain us promotion or even get us in the hunt. If TM was asking for that he'd have been sacked already! He's said he wants us to strengthen here and there, to sign young players from lower leagues with the potential to develop,( like Bell I assume) and for us to get better bit by bit, season by season. It makes sense on 2 fronts---its the only way forward Venkys will support, and, in the case of Burnley, it has been shown to work. Whether the fans are willing to hang on and age further while we go through this process I'm not sure! I'm guessing 1.5 million might well be it. It just sounds right.
  19. Surely this is where the youngsters come into the equation. Mixture of youth and experience.
  20. Wherever did I say our relegation was simply down to one factor? Unless that factor is Venkys of course. The over-arching factor that's at the bottom of everything over the last 7/8 years. However, diluting the squad every year and selling our 2 centre-backs to Premier League clubs just before kick-off was surely significant? As for the sentence in bold, what does it even mean? Am I being asked to agree that because of all sorts of decisions taken since Venkys bought the club, a massive debt has arisen which Venkys are responsible for? Of course I acknowledge that, how could I do otherwise? I just don't see what point you are trying to make. It'll be opposite to mine, I'm aware of that!
  21. "The Raos could have put more in..."!!! Really? Instead they sold all our best players and we got relegated! Remember? At some point in the future you are going to be shocked and mortified. The Raos specialise in it.
  22. That's a Kean description if ever I heard one! Run a mile!
