  1. This would be my worry too---a disconnect between Senior and Mowbray over signings in summer. Of course that assumes a)Mowbray lasts till summer, the Club lasts till summer and c) whether we actually make any signings. If Senior was any use he would have tried harder to sign up Mahoney as Coyle apparently wanted. I do feel a bit more optimistic about Mowbray. He wouldn't have been my choice but he has more and better experience than any of the other 6 managers other than Lambert and Rovers may have sounded others out who refused the job for all I know. A steady hand I'd call him. I always felt we were going down this season so anything else is a bonus but the plans for next season mean we will struggle again anyway. In short, we will never prosper under Venkys and who the manager is, who is administrative head, who decides transfer etc are all part of the side-show.
  2. Once again Venkys do the unpredictable. They probably read that we were reasonably happy with Adkins.
  3. Great run through the middle from Thomson, rasping shot hit the underside of the bar.
  4. I suppose his views on a possible future 3rd strip could be useful!
  5. When we discuss this transfer window,it should be a comparative thing. In other words," have we improved relative to those around us?", not just"have WE a better squad?" I'd say its pretty obvious that we have not. I doubt we've improved much anyway, if at all, because the key areas have not been addressed. Some"manager" this is, forwards tripping over each other while the opposition saunters past the midfield, through the defence and comes face to face with a hapless keeper. And why has Marshall not been training for 2 weeks? Wolves must have known that. How could we have got 1.5M in these circumstances? Whole process stinks, like the club.
  6. Everyone else in the relegation zone has changed their manager and are looking to strengthen their squads. We are keeping our lame duck manager on and looking to offload players to get the wage bill down. If that isn't deliberate relegation strategy then I don't know what is.
  7. Havn't read the 170 other posts but JIM FRYATT gets my vote. I'm voting on the basis of a player who had a reasonable number of games not someone who was picked just the once and abandoned.
  8. Talking unemotionally, a draw was a fair result. They had a bit more fluidity about their play than we did, had as much possession and created as many chances. Inevitable that one would go in at some point with our defensive set-up. It was a poor game, we are a poor team with failings a blind man could see. We look what we are, a hastily cobbled together team of freebies, cheapies and loanees. We will endure many more games we should have got something out of but we will still go down. Looking at the personnel, and remembering loans from Premier League clubs are vital to us, I still think someone else eg a Warnock would get more out of them. Coyle will probably be sacked once relegation looks unavoidable in keeping with a history of great Venky decision-making.
  9. Burnley fans will be there destroying the toilets.
  10. Signing Danny Graham is unadulterated good news and news I didn't expect tbh.
  11. I honestly think it smacks of realism, depressing though that is.
  12. 1st signing Spurr! Does that give you a clue?
  13. Half of the squad will play Coyle's brand of open football though----the defence.
  14. Exactly! Instead of losing 0-1 it'll be 3-4! Great for the neutrals and the winners.
  15. It really is like Kean all over again. He gives "a good presser".
  16. Time goes by and the search widens! Complete madness! Player manager needed then we have one less player to find in a hurry!
  17. We'll just have to wait a year or two longer before we play our nearest neighbours then!
  18. Yes but who cares? I wouldn't care if it happened to us either.I would simply see it as continuity. I love these stories, just shows there is always hope. As Gav says, the idea we would just disappear is ridiculous.
  19. I remember Vernon playing for Rovers, alongside Duggie and Clayton. He was a great inside forward, a number 10 when Duggie was on the wing. Great skill and a terrific shot on him despite him being as thin as a wafer. Quick too. Gutted when he went to Everton but it was to be a worn path where Rovers were concerned. And yes, he was a chain smoker. I know because there was a Bolton-Preston FA Cup replay at Ewood one season, 6th round? I sat next to him in the old A Stand in Nuttall St and I'll swear he never had a fag out of his mouth the whole game!
  20. What do you mean "if" there is a thread about Stanley. There is, its called "Stanley"! And by all means start a thread on Darwen if you want to. Just stick to it, don't bring Jack /Walker Trust/Walker family or Fergy/Man Utd or Abbey or any of the other obsessions you've been bombarding us with since you returned. Remember your own sentence "its not all about what you might be interested in".
  21. Well, deep breath, my post was about Stanley which, after all is the heading for the thread! Your's is all about you, not an unusual occurance I've noticed.
