  1. Ok, he needs to make 3 or 4 signings---I'd say at least. But, they have to be capable of going straight into the first team replacing his mates not merely giving them competition. Secondly he has to play them and thirdly they must be allowed to give of their best in their strongest position-------no central strikers on the wing, no midfielders at centre-back, no Chapman on the right wing. I could go on! This has to be TM's last chance, and I am not confident. If I thought for a minute that Venkys had a genuinely good manager lined up, I would not hesitate to support that but I'm a realist.
  2. When did we last move early in the transfer market? My impression is always of a last minute scramble after awaiting advice from India.
  3. "He might not take us up but he absolutely deserves the chance to try. " I've actually said that more than once myself and that's the way I voted. I accept you wrote a long and well-reasoned post, hence I only responded to a little section of it! You yourself admitted you used the wrong word so I don't think we're arguing about much do you? However, and we may disagree here, he'll have to substantially lift his game next season or the lives will be out in force. Some bewildering decisions and talk in recent times have undermined my faith in him, in particular his misguided loyalty to players who clearly are not good enough which, in turn, has led to the exclusion of players we should be playing.Does anyone disagree with that?
  4. Strawman alert! No-one expects perfection and TM hasn't come anywhere near it.
  5. I don't want competition for our League 1 squad, I want replacements for the ones who have proved to be not good enough this season. Not competition we need per se but talent. That's why I'm so furious about extended contracts. Makes no sense.
  6. Let's get Wharton back in the summer.
  7. Well he's costing us goals! I find that infuriating and frustrating.
  8. I was being ironic!
  9. The classic "hindsight' argument again. I didn't need it to see this was a poor deal, confirmed by seeing how little we used him and how unready he was. Those of us who didn't need hindsight were called out by others who did! Particularly you. Now you're saying we wrote him off too early! Clear implication that its time to write him off now! We just got the timing wrong!! This was and is a bad deal. We have blown most of our summer budget on a player who isn't good enough to play, while ignoring the defensive inadequacies that were obvious to most at the time. And we are still looking to replace Graham! "worst transfer in twenty years"------YES. Another Grabbi but Grabbi was a far better player. Brereton is so far out of his depth it defies belief. Nuttall is far better and he was free. At least he can head it. Dance on the head of a pin if you want, invent all the straw men you can (ticket surcharges or whatever) but you have spent months defending the indefensible, for what?
  10. Bingo----the lower the wage, the more we have to pay for them!!! Its a strange world out there!
  11. Jordan Rhodes on! Desperate times and all that!
  12. No its a wages-based decision! (apparently)
  13. These points are true and unarguable. Nothing to suggest this isn't a big clanger.
  14. No mate. We have memories------long ones.
  15. And I never said what you said I said you tedious person. You've brought Biz back I note, for good or ill.
  16. That's fair. I gave him till summer in the poll so he's got the transfer window to sort out the defence for me or he should be gone. However its not as if this is a new problem and he hasn't given it the attention it deserved so I'm not hopeful.
  17. Fingers crossed! What comes around goes around! Another great point at Stoke for Rotherham after going 2-0 down.
  18. You reckon even his daughters have given up on him?
  19. Well he had a career-ending injury! No-one can prepare for that----a real tragedy. Brereton on the other hand........
  20. And if we are good its down to Mowbray's managing and if we are crap its not his fault?
  21. Another way of looking at it-----despite the manager's performance we have survived. Could and should have been so much better.
  22. Then he's wrecked our season hasn't he? Should have put it on a horse!
  23. apart from Conway who never has 2 good games in a row!
