  1. What nags at me is that they are paying 20M a year to keeps in the championship, yet, if they'd put a lesser amount than that in at the start, we could still be in the Premiership. I say "could" because that would depend on the quality of people appointed to run the various aspects of the Club
  2. Our squad is weaker than last season.
  3. My 2 pennyworth, Rochina is so much better now he's left (like most Rovers players) and Dolan is going backwards. He was better in his first season than he is now.
  4. Buckley substituted after 55 mins yesterday.
  5. I'm assuming neither. Just another mid-table lost season in the Championship after all the hopes from last. Its quite obvious that we have a manager of great talent and ambition with a clear plan of how he wants us to play. But he hasn't been given the players to do it with. I don't see this ending well.
  6. Forced to sell Kaminski to keep afloat. Thanks for nothing Venkys. We all knew it would come back to haunt us didn't we?
  7. Yeah"You're the best football team we'll beat all season"!!
  8. I wish I felt as confident. They didn't come last season and was the major factor in missing the play-offs. We looked to the transfer window to put things right and it didn't. 9 points behind bloody Preston now. 😩
  9. Exactly what Plymouth fans said. I was told he'd played 35 games for Plymouth last season but of course he hadn't! "If" is a bigger word than it looks eh?
  10. Really? Just the odd deprecating remark surely? He was here for 5 years after all.
  11. Ha! So that's the test is it? If we don't batter Sunderland we were wrong about Mowbray! Like we judge anyone on just a single game. He's gone, thank God, get over it!
  12. Big big if eh? When did we last do this? Harrogate I suppose, on reflection!
  13. Let's not overlook why Preston do it. Its not to inflate attendance figures, but its done in the hope and expectation that it creates the supporters of the future. We have no similar long-term plans about anything. In say 10 years time, a certain % of these almost freebies will be full adults and paying the full amount. Not rocket science is it?
  14. His remit is clearly to cut expenditure down to a certain level, determined in Pune I'd assume. Just a well-paid lackey.
  15. Of course we'd mind! But the club wouldn't because it would know we had a bigger catchment area and could charge accordingly. But since we don't have a bigger catchment area what's the point of your post? The hope is for bigger crowds and we don't get them because we charge too much for our area both in terms of size and income.
  16. By the way, we had 16000+ which is a good attendance figure for us. But it was still the lowest Championship attendance on the day.
  17. For a big, strong looking bloke Gallagher isn't half injury prone.
  18. Just have to hope and wait. No choice really. Best thing the crowd can do is encourage him by applauding when he does something good and not being harsh when he cocks up. Parenting really! Or dog-owning! He's not what we needed, immediately anyway, but that's not his fault.
  19. Written with gritted teeth!!
  20. You'd know better than me Parson but Byron always seemed to score against West Ham! I was sharing a flat with 2 guys around the mid-sixties who were West Ham fans and they dreaded him being picked!
  21. Used to see him often in the Olde White Bull Saturday nights. Quite happy to talk about the day's game to anyone who asked him. As to his other clubs take your pick! Malcolm Darling (born 4 July 1947) is a Scottish former professional footballer. He was a winger who played for Blackburn Rovers, Norwich City, Rochdale, Bolton Wanderers, Chesterfield, Stockport County, Sheffield Wednesday, Hartlepool United and Bury
  22. Never understood this in relation to Wilcox. Local lad, came up though the ranks, held his place amongst a horde of big transfer players and capped for England! Yet plenty of his own fans didn't like him!! PS you missed John "Handbag" Connelly off that list!
  23. I agree. They take too long to adjust if indeed they ever do. What about this season, it'll be half over by Christmas. Will he still be finding his feet?
  24. I think they bought a Premier League club on a whim for prestige reasons, were conned as to what was needed to continue at that level. got us relegated, became disillusioned and have just provided the bare minimum needed to keep the club ticking over. For reasons of pride, they prefer to keep the club rather than admit they have been out of their depth and have made a mess of it. I admit that's me surmising but I look forward to reading different explanations if there are any.
