  1. And that's where our squad is stretched just on the numbers front. 4 yellows for us first game!
  2. I ca remember times when it wasn't just banter and there were 1 or 2 unpleasant encounters on the halfway line on the Riverside. One that particularly sticks out is Liverpool, very nasty they were.
  3. What Shearer and Pickering had in common was power, in the body, with a shot and in the air. They imposed themselves on centre-halves who often couldn't live with them. In his early years with us, Pickering was every bit as good as Shearer imo. But he won't be remembered that way. Sad.
  4. I seem to remember a chicken not that long ago!
  5. And what a team! Best football ever seen at Rovers.
  6. Never said otherwise. Just putting results in perspective.
  7. All over them but need another goal.
  8. When we have so many young players in our 1st team squad, I guess it follows that our youth teams are going to be on the end of some pastings.
  9. He was a young hopeful with the world at his feet but he's now 30 Gav. Whichever way it goes he will never fulfill his undoubted potential. Shame.
  10. Always used to think of Manchester as the capitol of Lancashire but Preston seems to be taking over now after local government organisation. Maybe this is part of it?
  11. We were bullied by teams like this last season. Hope we can stand tall this season and give it back. Can't rely on skill alone.
  12. Glory-hunter!
  13. We've got a link to Harrogate, who's that former poster who lives there now and supports them? There was s a photo of him on here a few years ago, on a coach going to an away game.
  14. Buckley is not the player he was though. 90% of his involvement is playing it back 6 yards, often to the bloke who's just given it to him. Agree he was better 2nd half but that's a low bar. I'm a fan of his and really want him to be the player he could be. But can't see him getting his first team place back soon, sadly.
  15. We don't know that but the Club or groups such as Fans Forum could try to find out.
  16. Well that's the crux of it! My point was that many people might find it difficult to make it to Ewood Park mid-week with the current timing. Its not an answer to say it doesn't worry me!
  17. He's certainly better than Markanday! There'd be different views re Dolan! Bit early to tell yet.
  18. No, I need a new memory.2 nd half started earlier than I said. But that doesn't detract from my principle point. Penalties and you wouldn't have been home as early would you? Also depends how close to Ewood you park. Took me 20 mins to walk back to the car up and off Livesey Branch Rd and set off. And this is with a small crowd remember. But if you don't think night games should start earlier then you don't, its just my opinion.
  19. The difference is in the ownership. We could be set up to do exactly what Brentford have done at the football level but Venkys will always find a way to stuff it up. I don't want to be a wet blanket, I want it to be as you describe but factoring in Venkys saves you grief down the track.
  20. Game starts 7-45pm. 2nd half starts 9.05pm after 5 mins extra time. Game finishes pretty much on 10pm after 9 minutes of extra time. Anyone taking half an hour to get home from there, and many would take more, and you're home for 10-30pm. Its a bit late for mid-week isn't? I know it wasn't a school week but regular Championship games and possibly FA Cup games will be. And---suppose they'd equalised and we had penaltiy shoot-out? That's the rule in the League Cup isn't it? But FA Cup is extra-time and pens isn't it? Not sure of the rules but I am sure those responsible need to look at earlier kick-offs midweek or attendances will be way down.
  21. Caught the eye did Gilsenan as did Garret. No spectacle though, despite the score, hundreds of little passes that went nowhere. Our left flank was exposed so often in the first half and it was the left side in the second half. We just didn't gel tonight despite scoring 4 goals!
  22. Plenty of top strikers have scored plenty without being physically imposing-----Greaves being the most obvious example. Aways in the right place at the right time. Early days yet but indications are that Leonard has the nous to be like that.
  23. I thought our crowd of 16471 Was pretty good but it was actually the 2nd lowest in the Championship! Only Plymouth got fewer and that only by a Hundred or two. 😰
