  1. He was absolutely brilliant yesterday. Best player on the pitch by a mile. Scored 2, made 1, (should have been 2 but Dolan missed a sitter), and hit the woodwork twice. In between, his first touch was sublime, he passed and ran for the return all day, he was as good as i've ever seen him. And we get nothing for him. Oh and he won a lot of the headers!
  2. Big rap for Rovers from the Guardian! https://www.theguardian.com/football/2023/may/08/millwall-blackburn-championship-match-report
  3. He bleeds blue and white, that's uncalled for. Whether he is good enough or not isn't his decision. We shouldn't turn on our own.
  4. Its heat-breaking to miss out on the play-offs in that manner but at least we didn't bottle this game. Shows how much football is played in the head. Those 2 late, late capitulations against Preston and Coventry were always going to bite us in the end but this game shows what we can do. Replacing Diaz, getting someone like O'Brien in and one or two more players of quality and we can put all this behind us. Feeling pride more than disappointment and thinking the best is yet to come.
  5. Feel the same. Will be even more ecstatic if we get a huge load of luck for once though!
  6. My post was related to stories of people seeing several matches in one day. Financially you could do it then. Football was the people's game and crowds were massive even though the stadiums were primitive compared to today. Quite common in the early sixties for residents of east Lancashire to watch Rovers at home one Saturday and Burnley the next. People even had season tickets for both. People are priced out now is my point.
  7. I ca remember when a Rovers season ticket for teenagers was £2/10 shillings!
  8. But we might turn up now its too late! Beat Millwall and lose out on GD?
  9. Great manager for us. I knew we were doomed the minute he was sacked.
  10. I'd like to see what he would have done with England. Could have gone either way. We'll never know.
  11. There's been a rise in attendances this season caused by us being at or near the top for most of it----at least it seems that way, I haven't looked at the stats. And there's been a great following away all season so I'd have thought we'd a great chance to increase season ticket sales. If we don't, it'll be the pricing.
  12. Well we are in with a chance of reaching the play-offs with only one game to go. How many expected that at the start of the season? That is progress surely?
  13. His all-round game isn't great though---I wouldn't sign him. Oh for a winger who can beat his man and then get a good cross in!
  14. Those late games last season didn't matter though?
  15. Its a journey Matty. It doesn't have a time-line or a destination. We're on it till we join the thousands who have already got off.
  16. This is the maddening part. We haven't played badly at all in our last few matches and we've certainly matched our opponents in terms of effort. We just can't score that 2nd goal that leaves us breathing space. In the end that January window has cursed us and it was avoidable.
  17. We could finish 5th or we could finish 13th! With 2 games to go! Amazing. PS---I haven't tabulated every fixture to see if that reckoning does work out, I just know we play Luton and Milwall and need to win them to be certain of play-offs!
  18. And therein lies the difference! In addition to the £40M, relegated clubs usually get shedloads from sale of the players that leave when they are relegated. In reality, only one promotion place is left for the other 22 clubs, usually only 1 relegated club doesn't get back first time.
  19. JRC's contract up in 2024. Let's not let him slip away.
  20. We will most likely finish same as last year with similar points. However I don't feel that does justice to the season which has been the best since we went down more than a decade ago. I feel much more positive about next season than I felt a year ago. However I do worry about whether the admin's policy of driving spectators away will succeed.
  21. Bloody hell! Hate to see what he'd be like if he supported us!
  22. Bit churlish Gav?
  23. Not a majority. Good to have feedback from another source than our own. Ignore the minority and keep posting!
  24. 1 terrific season in his entire time with us. Aided by penalties too, though he took a good one tbs. This season he's mostly been below par but could do well in a higher league where there are more good players around him.
