  1. I think he decided that was the case straight away and has stuck to that theory and that is the problem. The guy is just a number cruncher whose always been employed at decent sized clubs going backwards. He fits that well but if you want to move forwards off the pitch as well as on it he clearly isn't the man.
  2. He's in a borough of 150k now not one of 300k or a city of 400k with one team, something he struggles to come to terms with beyond fleecing 8 thousand diehards.
  3. I respect his honesty in basically admitting he didn't enjoy it and couldn't be arsed with it once he realised he'd never make the Prem. Can't respect throwing talent and opportunities away and treating playing for the mighty Rovers like some kind of well paid hobby though. End of the day some just aren't cut out for it i suppose and despite what we think as fans it's a very demanding industry and money ain't the be all and end all.
  4. I don't think the smaller crowds bit measures up at all to what actually happened. Stage fright due to bigger crowds and cameras yeah maybe.
  5. Hopefully waiting to announce a good signing to kick off the summer rush phase of ST sales.
  6. There have been soooo many like that it's sad but at least this lad seems to have had wise people around him to invest his money. Although Marshall was a decent player here i'm so glad the club have moved away from those drinking culture obsessed types.
  7. It's called pricing to your market and that's what Bolton and PNE do and even Burnley with these clubs early bird deals. Waggot operates reverse psychology on this by chirping oh look they've a lot more but their income is the same or a bit less than ours. Missing several points by a wide margin.
  8. That's my point it's extra unexpected income so seeing as the owners can only cover losses at the moment to stay within FFP then surely that extra few quid presents a small spending opportunity. Be it a fee or extra wages for a big signing or the most sensible invest it in a decent young player. We are told the only way we can spend is by increasing income, well it just did last season.
  9. I keep seeing reference to matchday experience but what exactly do people want from visiting a second tier football match ? I couldn't give a toss about any other experience apart from the team having a go on the pitch. Only gripe i have is the woeful prematch music on a loop that just repeats itself and sometimes makes your eardrums bleed.
  10. So we keep getting told we can't spend because of lack of income and owners can't put more in because of FFP. Now we are 1.5 mill better off in extra income that should be available to spend but it's swallowed up despite the budget being the same ? Good old Swaggo double speak spin.
  11. Don't forget they can issue a thousand complimentary STs if they want to drum up the figures.
  12. A large slice of the 14/15/16k who turned up over the last few months will not be converted to ST holders on the prices we offer. The support IS there but they will pick and choose then pile in for the run in or odd cheap match deal. No incentive to do anything else when brass is tight and interest is modest because of previous lack of ambition at the top.
  13. Waggot out the man has stole a living long enough.
  14. I remember reading a few years ago that 25% of Ipswich ST holders at the time came from Colchester. Also they didn't have 21k season ticket holders when they were a middling/struggling championship side. Sadly we will remain one of the smaller home supports in the division again from one of the smallest towns with higher end ST prices and biggest stadiums. Clueless.
  15. We could have cheaper tickets in the riveside and Hyam could have his wall of fans but the BBE and JW would be half full and the atmosphere gone after the initial welcome onto the pitch. The issue as always and mentioned a thousand times is drive up ST sales instead of reducing them year on year then token gestures to hang on to the renewers.
  16. Yeah waiting to see how many the Vs are buying up themselves to then make available as complimentary's and shaded out on the planner !
  17. 1) Absolutely 2) Probably 3) Yes 4) Absolutely - In every stand 5) No The first thing i'd do though is try and install some brains from top to bottom who understand the club/town/fans and are capable of running a modest sized but ambitious club.
  18. I'm still far from convinced any relegated club would be looking at paying compen for someone like JDT who has only had 1 season here and to any regular observers is still very much a work in progress himself. These clubs want to bounce straight back not go on projects or journeys.
  19. My mum did that occasionally, brief dip i presume but it always tasted good - after it had been through about 15 sheets of kitchen role to dry off !
  20. First time i went to Barsnley late 80's - can't even remember the score i think it was a 0-0 night game - we stopped at a chippy on the way out of town. I asked for a bag of chips (remember them ?) the reply was 'yes love and do you want mint sauce on ?' i genuinely thought she'd sussed the accent and was taking the pee, especially as we'd spent parts of the previous few hours chanting various sheep related ditties to our Yorkshire cousins. But no, salt, vinegar and mint sauce bottles were on the counter, still one of the oddest food dilemmas iv'e had at football.
  21. If she doesn't call them chip barms she will be making a fookup on a par with her hubby's subs in the Sheff U game !
  22. I can't believe Bell is now in the Prem he's still not very good imo iv'e seen him several times this season as well as against us and he's still the same he was here. There has been no miracle turnaround or underratting of him here he is bang average at very best. What he is though is surrounded by a better more functional team than he ever was here under a better modern day manager. Well done Luton and up yours Coventry, Ben Wilson and your insufferable crowd obsessed short memory span fans.
  23. Yep every non renewer becomes a potential picker.
