  1. We'd need Beckenbauer and Roberto Carlos in defence to play our way out of some of the stupid suicidal stuff we do in our own box.
  2. Well i keep getting told we do what we do because he has to use what he's got so i'm waiting for this influx of players to fit his style to arrive.
  3. Remember when one of Abramovich's mates was supposed to be buying Rovers about 20 years ago ?
  4. Hopefully JDT has a contacts book and is allowed to put it in motion.
  5. Pace might have sacked Dyche who'd probably run out of steam but he got kompany in which is looking an inspired signing. They've managed to back him as well so seems to me it's a brave attempt at a reset. How it works out long term remains to be seen but Burnley are likely to be a yoyo club in the near future. I'd be more than happy for Rovers to be that now we've no right to expect anything more. Sadly all we'll ever get under this lot is yoyoing between midtable and 8th placed finishes unless at some point they lay down a marker and show some ambition.
  6. It would be interesting to see the stats regarding how many times this season the ball has been lost in our rear third due to the 'possession' starting from the keeper. And how many times this has lead to conceding. We seem to have stats for everything else.
  7. Not watched it back and never will but i do remember commenting at the time that BBD and Gallagher weren't closing down quick up top. Whether by instruction or they were both struggling - both did look a bit wooden by normal standards - we were conceding way too much space to Burnley. And of course their dangerous wide men meant there was no chance of any unrisky wing back type play because they attacked that space every chance. They certainly did a number on us tactically.
  8. At the start of the season given the changes then yes but having seen what we can do and got ourselves again in a good position it would be another complete mess to end up there in May. We can't keep going around in circles treading water, football goes in cycles for a lot of clubs and we are now at the upper end of ours after a decade of crap. Unless the management and investors push it as hard as they can now we'll be on a dip again before you can blink. Building a promotion side goes in 2 or 3 season cycles not 5 or 10 year ones that's just bull manure chucked about to safe guard positions. Ambition is key and for a brief moment it looks like we have a guy who might have some but once hes sussed how easy life at Ewood is he'll become Mowbray mk2. If fans don't have a modicum of expectation at Rovers then who actually does ?
  9. Mowbrays version of possession football was a disaster away from home and so is this version.
  10. Just do what we've done in the past and give them 4.5k with the upper tier filled first. I'm sure the local Police would be happy with that, Waggot not so much.
  11. You will do in a few weeks once Rovers withdrawal kicks in and England give us all something else to stress about !
  12. Not sure if this is a good game to come back to or a bad one but it's another awkward fixture for sure. Jump on them and get an early goal otherwise i can see them taking the points because they certainly won't be as flat and clueless as we were at the Turd. Can't see anything different from the recent home games and it has always been a question of how long we can get away with the things at home we don't get away with on the road. I'm very discombobulated after Sunday Rovers 0 Knobbers 2 18,835
  13. I'd prefer a Bradley Johnson of a few years ago type sat in the middle than the Liverpool kid every day of the week. I know he has some qualities but not enough contribution to start every game imo it's more about what he might do than what he actually does. 2 in 3 games he goes completely missing he's just too lightweight and wastes most set pieces he takes, we wouldn't end up camping in our own box against bottom of league at home if we actually had some solidity in the middle. Such naive stuff it boils the blood.
  14. Hopefully Greggy boy as DoF is being honest with him and telling him these no show away days need addressing pronto.
  15. I think it's more that he's just a continental manager and has that cool Scandinavian character about him. He thinks what worked at Malmo will work here it's the only way he knows and he won the lge back to back with it. So it's here to stay and he'll keep trying to drum it into them come what may. The get out of jail card is always ready made with such a young squad and so many more to integrate into it.
  16. Exactly, words are meaningless now he's misjudged the intensity of this rivalry and gone for the safety first approach. It's backfired big style so the best way to remedy it is get them up for another big one and take it out on them. Refreshed, fit and raring to go there is absolutely NO excuse not to turn in a full bloody 95 mins in your face effort against another set of local gobshites. Anything less and he's putting himself firmly in the firing line.
  17. I agree why bother trying to twist everything.
  18. Again another one twisting the narrative. People are unhappy with the performance or lack of it more than anything, it shouldn't need explaining.
  19. Who is calling for his head ? Your post is just an over reaction in itself and doesn't really mirror the overriding opinions on here. Why in some heads is it always ok to have a go at supporters and not the plonkers being paid 10k a week to play football ?
  20. When we have lightweight loanees and a guy with one cup appearance in front of Blackburn lads who happen to be also amongst the best players it won't help. Badly needed a David Dunn type out there. All we saw and heard about on the day was how much it meant to Burnley, their dodgy chairman seemed to grasp it well enough as did their new gaffer. As for us just a shrug of the shoulders 'poor fans, poor young team it's a shame for them ' but it's just a project where we don't seem entitled to expect anything.
  21. I think he could have fallen into the trap of thinking it'll be like the Blackpool and Wigan games. Lots of derbies this season and apart from staff around the club who above him is saying hey don't fuck this one up. Waggot ? no chance, Pasha ? No idea, Broughton ? the Owners ? - it's the age old Venky era problem at Rovers, nobody upstairs understands anything.
  22. He already has a more experienced forward but he never uses him.
  23. Because yesterday and numerous times this season they don't play out from the back they play across their own 6 yard box, invite the opposition to close us down then pass to someone under pressure stood on the touchline who then loses it. It's a fooking shameless shambles of a tactic that achieves nothing except invite trouble. When the tv commentators are saying why ? The opposition fans are saying why ? And neutrals watching on telly say why ? You know something is up it isn't just us picking holes in it and us being 3rd in the league, before anyone parrots up, is more to do with being defensively resolute when backs to the wall and BBD than anything else.
  24. Why keep on instructing Kaminsky, Ayala etc to try and play keep ball on the edge of their own six yard box, then pass to a player under pressure on the touchline before losing the ball and conceding/nearly conceding.
  25. Most worrying thing for me is we've seen that approach in nearly every away game and 9 times now we've heard exactly the same post match comments. Bad decisions on the ball. project, inconsistent, young players, lacked intensity - not tactical ( not my fault gov) NINE times the same old schtick after the same old performances, away from home IT IS NOT WORKING Jon !!!!! We are 3rd in the league largely because of home results and ironically the few times we've gone away and started on the front foot we've won. So yes partly at least it IS tactical and ;lack of coming from behind to even eek out a few draws often after giving goals away being caught out at the back is the work of bottle jobs.
