I don't actually remember him getting any abuse he wasn't even that good. -
The backing argument is a simple one really. They gave him some money to invest after promotion which he did. Then for whatever reason, FFP, dismay at the money they'd given him not translating into instant success ? Probably a combination of those so it was back to topping up the wage bill/losses to allow him to bring players in that way. Frees, loans and cheapos. Never forget the academy in all this either which they've funded possibly against advice from him and his pals to downscale it. So compared to big city clubs income or parachute clubs we haven't had a lot but compared to others he's had good tools here to work with. No different to Bowyer or Lambert either. Also regarding those and other clubs the biggest point here is he hasn't been to sell one player until AA, facts. Paying less wages than Preston ? Give over, this season possibly for first team squad but over his time here no chance. Ayala, Gallagher, Dack and even Poveda are on 60 grand a week combined easily. I wish this line would stop being peddled by all means bash the owners but stop this ridiculous notion Mowbray has been badly done to compared to half this division. Facts don't back it up.

Then he should have Mowbray in his office to tell him in no uncertain terms to go all out for it at Preston. -
I can't see Mowbray retiring he's too much of a football guy but he really does need a break that much is obvious. Maybe he has personal stuff going on but if he did call it a day i'm sure he'd be back before long. He has a lot to offer the right kind of club if he can find one that is happy developing players in the middle of a division. As long as they are capable of getting enough points before Christmas of course.

Not sure whether to be elated or very worried with Mike E's titbit. After all it was the Lambert great reset that set off the relegation chain of events and added more millions in pay offs to the debt mountain. To be fair to Tony Mowbray the only real reset we've had under Venkys was with him. Easy to forget that in all the angst now although it doesn't change the fact he should have been gone a while ago. If it's a total rebuild job of backroom and team then they need to think very carefully this time. Also it will need proper financial backing not a team thrown together in July/August

This is exactly how its been since he came here its been his own big experiment. If he was supposed to be building the team up to promotion with 3 center backs and wing backs it should have started years ago. It didn't he decided to plod on with the promotion squad freshly bestowed with contract extensions which made changing even harder for himself. Then when that was broken up right out the blue he decides we have to go the Swansea route, bizarre after telling us we needed to follow the PNE, Brentford, Barnsley model ! Two years and a load of loans and signings wasted on that to go nowhere so all change again, partly no doubt by being forced after cutting the wage bill. We finally got an identity that suited and one that should have started years ago, then the January signings...... If he'd done that at Boro. WBA or many places they'd have said you tried it it hasn't work so we'll try someone else thanks.

These lads or most of them are as far as we are aware on less than 5 grand per week so the financials are very important to them. If they get offered double but are going to other championship teams as back up they'll probably take it espicially if they don't know what the hell is happening here next season. It isn't rocket science and i don't know where this myth of them thinking they'll step into Prem sides has come from. They are young but experienced championship 1st team starters on modest to low wages. They will be FREE of a fee and even doubling their money probably still sits within a lot of clubs budgets. There'll be plenty suitors but lets all take Waggot and Mowbrays side on it eh, i mean we are sooo confident they'll bring in better, right ?
-
I might just do that but unlike you i don't need to fuel an air of 'i know something you lot don't'.
-
Nothing against Benson or Johnson but for the other 3 the gravy train should end as soon as possible. Lowe warms them up and they are doing more or less the same things they did when Bowyer was here. How long ago was that ? Standard stuff that a lot do i suppose just straight out of a manual but hes been here almost the entire Championship mediocre era. Surely some fresh ideas are needed especially if it's replicated in training every day.
-
So if ten of us made appointments with Waggot at different times and unbknown to him all with the same agenda as just to see what he says. I wonder if we'd get ten of the same versions, ten different ones or a random mixture ? I suppose we'd have to promise a bit of positive PR as well though to get a toe in the door.

The WBA stuff started probably when we were on that great run and the wheels began churning to get him a new contract here. The demeanor of him since then screams to me he was pissed at them not slapping a bumper deal in front of him there and then. It also suggests he doesn't have the security of walking straight into one at West Brom either. We know how fragile an ego this guy has so imo looking at it now he's more or less thought f##k it if they aren't showing their hand now. Hes been pampered here in the past by basically doing what he wants with their blessing so the first sign of a snub has him sulking i suppose. In a way i can understand it he should know where he stands. If he'd shaped himself though and done some business we needed in Jan, then kept up a bit better form he'd probably have a deal on the table now. There's also the Ayala issue and the rumours around that signing and them not being happy. Possibly lead to the recruitment guy spitting his dummy and leaving, again just rumours. However Ayala has indeed turned into another wage drain nobody needed, him and Poveda must be costing the club 30k a week for nothing. That is bad business and something to consider when sticking the boot into the lack of backing, that money should have been used a whole lot better i'm afraid.

Burnley, Bolton, Wigan, Oldham and this lot i'm not sure what the overal record is with this manager but i doubt it's very good. The only time you'd be confident going into a derby with this fella in charge is when we've been on one of those spectacular little winning runs we've had. If a derby falls around that time of the season then every chance otherwise forget it. People are ready to turn and this will be it if there is no more effort than the last month and it'll embarrassingly play out in front of the cameras. If ever he needs to not shrug his shoulders then this is it but he'll no doubt spend the week building up Preston and lining up his ducks to excuse defeat. Gobshites 1 Rovers 1 at best....
-
Who would sack them though ? Whilst i agree with some of this post i think you miss judge the moral angle by quite a way when it comes to football and money. In fact Mowbray himself has basically told the players in the press they'd be better off elsewhere if they can get more money. That's advice in public pal.

It's a no brainer for Watford to go after someone like Nyambe because he has solid championship experience. He's still youngish and most of all he'll be cheap because he's allegedly on a pittance here. With parachute money or whatever they can easily absorb 10 or 15 grand a week for a freebie with potential who can fit straight in if needed. We'll obviously easily be replacing him for a few hundred grand of course, that hedges looks a cracking rwb !

It was similar v Blackpool i counted 4 different players either running it out, falling over the ball or losing it and just standing there in the first ten mins. The theme was truly set and the only time iv'e seen normally competent players looking like they are pissed is when they probably are ( Grant Hanley ) from the night before OR they are doing it on purpose. Now just why would they do that for 3 or 4 games on the trot ? -
The only chance this club has of doing anything in the medium to long term under this ownership is appoint a real CEO/Chairman to run the show fully in Blackburn. Somebody who knows what they are doing and works independent of ANY agent or agency. If they knew the club and town then even better. We've no chance whilst the chasm between here and India allows poundshop operatives in Blackburn to bask in such a comfort zone and set up their own little plans. We've known this since day dot though yet those clowns continue to line pockets and people who are happy to take it and keep their mouths shut.

Depends what they were saying to him. -
Conning has been around Rovers a long time and is or at least was Blackburn based. I seem to remember he might have been the one a poster on here kept implying he was trying to snap up all the academy players at Ewood. Various hints that some at Rovers were in cahoots on this and the players were basically being press ganged into it. I may or may not be wrong on that though as there was a lot going on at the time.

Thing is nobody would be the least bit shocked if that was an accident on purpose figure put out. Bling 'Well done Steve i see your crowd initiatives are working' Swaggo 'Yes Mr B we asked the fans to come out to support Tony and they did' B 'Oh good we know they love him as much as we do, now what about the team and result ?' S 'Who, what ? does it really matter ? B ' Nah i suppose not, i'll ring again in 6 months' -
If Shaun Dyche rang up Madame and said i really want to manage your club and get it promoted. I'll do it for a million a year and a bonus on promotion she'd say well you'll have to do it for half that and come out to India every 6 months ? The most satisfying thing involving him would be WBA snap him up and leave a certain set of dinosaurs and their alleged little plan right up the spout.

Mowbray is one of those who talks so much shit that eventually he ends up believing it himself. He's now managed to convince himself that this team has fallen away simply because they are young. Then when his team concedes at home after less than 4 mins and there is little to no reaction he gets offended when the fans ask him the MANAGER to sort it out. What is it 3 or 4 wins in 4 months and HE decides he's the one offended ? There's something not quite right about that Tony. -
The sense of self importance from the parasites within football is even more astounding.

I hope so it would be best all around if he's going and he gets a respectable send off. We've been on this road before where hes looked fed up every time we are in these death spirals and the 3rd person stuff has always been one of my biggest issues with him. They/them has been his detachment from taking any responsibility for 2 years now. Anyway fingers crossed....
