  1. Iv'e an open mind on the manager situation but letting Mowbray drift away at the end of his contract could well just be another cost cutting exercise. Letting Mowbray go and Venus when his contract is up then making an internal appointment might save them a million quid per season. They are daft enough to try anything and who knows, it might work.
  2. He put too much stock into the Giles experiment imo. Brings in a LWB to basically play wide forward and cover BBD's absence i reckon because we don't use wingers and who was he supposed to aim for. We don't do target men or central strikers either so the whole plan hinged on Gally coming in at the back stick and Giles pinging the odd goal in. It flopped so he tried him in a completely alien position and that didn't work either - verdict is he was trying to be too clever again whilst also putting too much faith in another loanee kid. Similar will have been expected of Markandy and i don't think he'd have made much difference even if fit. Bad move going for people with no real scoring pedigree when we knew we'd need goals badly if we were to keep up a promotion tilt.
  3. Just imagine if a bang average or very underwhelming appointment traps up and does better than him with the first team. I think Mowbrays at times has been too focused on building the infracstructure - drones, analysts, jobs for mates etc. Also too bothered about the 'human' angle of nurturing everybody keeping them all happy, giving as many as possible a chance. Not criticizing him here for the sake of it as some of it needed to be done and some of it is part and parcel of a managers job. However it would interesting to see what happens if a more results based manager comes in with just focus mainly on the first 11. For the first time since he came here Mowbray gave us an ID the early part of the season. Before than too much swapping about, too much loyalty to certain players in the squad and too many square pegs in round holes and style of play changes. Once we went off kilter started by an enforced change or two that was it we were back too similar stuff that's been synonymous with most of his reign. Yes he rarely strayed from the back 3 system but it ended up working against us because of too much swapping players around again. We need someone good with young players and who keeps the pathway going from academy to first team, of course we do. It does though need to be someone who puts stock in getting a best and settled first 11 that gels and gets results before anything else.
  4. Then all they need do is give Mowbray a new long term contract and midtable is all but guaranteed.
  5. Actually he probably thought it gave him a bit more leeway to extend his stay.
  6. Beaten by a better side with quality finishers so that's fair enough. However Rovers were poor after starting quite brightly and all the hallmarks were there of why we fell away so badly. Yet again the manager has to come under question with tactics and subs. There's been times this season when we've sat there and thought Rovers need to go a bit more direct they need a plan B. Yesterday wasn't one of those days though against that opposition. The whole idea just seemed to consist of long balls into the channels for BB and Gallagher to gallop after. The odd time Rovers played a bit they looked like they could play through them but that clearly wasn't the tactic. Yet again the subs far from improving things made us look worse and for the umpteenth time this last few months we ended up a mish mash of players not knowing what they were supposed to be doing. Players just thrown on for the sake of it again by the surrender monkey and what an easy afternoon they made it for Bournemouth.
  7. People love to leave that bit out. Fact is if we look at recent accounts they've shoved money in every conceivable way even paying money to sponsor the club they already own. I don't believe for 1 second that if Mowbray asked for a wage contribution towards a loan striker in Jan, to cover BBDs Chile spell and help kick on the promotion tilt they'd have said no. I do very much believe he didn't ask for that and wasn't arsed about it because instead he preferred another development player.
  8. I presume Ainsworth is southern based and seems a bit of a flash harry so he might not fancy coming back up here at all. We've had to listen to Mowbray constantly moan about being 2 hrs from home. Some managers will take these things into consideration even if a job interests them. It's likes players, just because there is a connection doesn't automatically mean they'd jump at going there. As for NIxon he's made a career off lazy bull crap journalism.
  9. You have to consider if there has been no contact then he didn't really want any he has his eye on something else. He said himself why should he go to them if they don't come to him so there's been a mutual sulk by the sounds of it. Most of us assumed he wanted paying off last season but they were reluctant knowing his contract didn't have long to run. The CEO should have been in public giving everybody clarity and saying thanks for the service so it just about sums him up as well. He shouldn't permission from Pune to do that and even if so a real bloke would've took it upon himself to do so. He's quick enough on the pitch to have his face photographed handing a cheque over or presenting a trophy. Make no mistake that guy should be out the door as well, if he pulls off a good managerial appointment and refuses to deal with the usual dross agency i'll reconsider my opinion. As for those just assuming good things are coming well we blew the best thing in over a decade in the last 4 months. So no wonder they didn't make any contact with Mowbray, how would we all feel now if he was 3 months into a new 3 year deal ?
  10. Surely Venus going on gardening leave otherwise it'll be another 'shoe in' appointment. More backroom medical staff leaving ? What's the turnover in that dept i wonder, time was not that long ago we had one of the best medical set ups outside of top clubs. The Venky axe has put paid to that as well.
  11. He quite simply didn't get the best out of them over the last 4 months they are still the same squad. Yes some absences caused issues but he still had most at his disposal plus 2 new attacking players brought in. The rest of it you are bob on as usual but there is no getting away from Mowbrays consistent flaws that have contributed to the fall away.
  12. All we needed was bang average for we are mostly used to like the old 1.5 points per game type thing. We only needed 20 points from 17 games. I think we all knew the fantastic form couldn't last but it's not unrealistic to expect a bit more than was delivered. It isn't all Mowbrays fault there's a combination of factors but he's been one of them. That bit we've seen all before this death spiral had all the same hallmarks as the others.
  13. I'm loving the hindsight on display in the LT comments section this morning. So we should have let Tony sell Rothwell and bring in who he had lined up then we'd have stayed in the top 6. It's all down to that why we fell away after the seed was planted and has grown in the empty heads. 3 wins in 16 since the window shut - despite 4 signings - and it's all down to us keeping one of our better players 🙄 I give up.
  14. Trouble is we end up midway through next season probably saying we really need change, any change. He's been here that long now that to expect anything different is pointless. Who knows though with these lot if it isn't just a financial decision rather than a football one, some ear whisperer saying he can provide someone on half the wages.
  15. Honeywhatever his name is has been feeding off the Ewood teet whilst his man has been here. Must be laughing all the way back to his bank in Boro but he's getting all bitter and twisted now it looks like the party is over. Entitled ? Yes we are entitled to anything that isn't relegation form post January, what's wrong with that ? The only entitled is these tossers thinking they can bleed Rovers as long as they want to.
  16. Well that's QPR on the hit list for a double spanking next season the useless lazy imbeciles.
  17. Nonsense clear off back to the LT You'll find plenty sensible discussion on here over the last few years if you care to look. No though it's a blame the fans post. Absolute abject rubbish.
  18. Grayson would probably work with those already here barr Venus but please no David Dunn again.
  19. They are also the ones who ran out of steam, probably due more to tactics than age but i suppose that goes hand in hand as well. Hope QPR give Warburton one last hurrah tonight and we do the same tomorrow.
  20. Where is the CEO in the middle of all this ? Why is he in hiding and why has he been ignoring LT requests for interviews regarding STs and Mowbrays future for weeks ? What is the point of him other than trying to rent out the pitch and stadium to whoever wants it ?
  21. How are these skint clubs affording all these discounted ticket prices then ? Maybe they've read the room and realize people are going to start cutting their cloth because of the cost of living and useless millionaires in govt making it worse. Maybe they know what's coming so are happy to try and hold onto their loyal core and get a few more in even if they take a small hit on the books. Meanwhile here it's a continuation of squeeze what we have left till it finally pops.
  22. If we don't commit silly fouls all afternoon and cut out the constant petulance surrounding refs every time there's an alleged foul we should be ok. Don't give him any excuses just get the heads down on play, no pressure on us it's on them remember. Lets make them make the mistakes.
  23. Is it possible he wanted out last summer but they couldn't line anyone up and didn't want to pay him off ? There's be so many times the last 18 months or so that he has looked thoroughly fed up and knackered. He's made noises at times like he didn't give a stuff about anything but keeping the lads happy. Leading many to believe he was just waiting for or angling for a pay off. With this in mind they've obviously held off the backing and decided to get FFP in order leading to more sulking this season from him. It's not that i don't believe what he's saying it''s just the context of it i got the impression a while ago he's out for himself now. Damage limitation is in full flow like with most managers and he doesn't want to be seen as retiring just in case there is something on the horizon. Has to try and make it like he's stepping down honorably though, he's a very crafty old fox.
  24. Had this argument on twitter the other night with another TM denier. One of the lowest incomes in the Champ blah blah... Yes but ownership who make it a competitive midtable budget every season by covering the losses for that compared to the income. But hes had nothing to work with.... Not a lot true, apart from the midtable budget, a 7 million pund and 5 million pound striker, loan fees and wage contributions to Prem clubs for their talent, a Cat A academy production line that most others don't have. Oh and ownership who ignore bad results and basically let him do and say what he wants within reason. Did i mention not being forced to sell ANY player in 5 years ! Ok, you don't just expect top 6 off all that but he has also been outdone by managers and clubs with less every season. Including injuries to key players and bad refs.
  25. But we have silent owners and an anonymous CEO so it's nothing there's nothing out of the ordinary in Rovers world. Mowbray himself has been saying maybe they are waiting to see where we finish so perhaps he has been told at some point top 6 or offski. Possible he thought the win the other night might force their hand a bit but hes heard nothing, if only he'd started strikers at Coventry. And had the team showing more urgency from the off in that game, the Reading game and the two other home games he wouldn't be in this dilemma now. All it needed was a few more points, they win prizes but hes been too busy at times telling everybody hes only bothered about individuals. Looks like he's about to be bitten on the backside.
