  1. A loan signing off the books of his Mrs non the less, dread to think what Rovers tipped up for that little scenario. End of the day though he wasn't around long enough to make any difference and wouldn't have had the clout to do so anyway. Not much point giving him real stick other than it's obvious he's just another chancer. Probably brought in by the usual crew anyway.
  2. So the post lockdown approach improved the possession stats but in turn blew our best chance in almost a decade of having a real go at the top 6. That just sums everything up in a nutshell really, absolutely blood boiling !
  3. The notes in the accounts and just signing them off is probably all that is required. Doesn't mean anything if the shit truly hits the fan of course and they can't pay. Won't pay surely opens up legal avenues if guarantees have been signed off though surely.
  4. Maybe secured against book value of the players ? Hence why they always make a big deal of 'getting value into the team'.
  5. I'd say so and we are in that big clutch of clubs that could pivot either way but more likely just to remain in the middle bunch. This is why the nous of the manager is so important alongside owner/fan/player backing and of course injuries & form of key players. Our man has had all those up to now apart from the Dack situation recently. Unlike others he's had 12 million worth of forwards that should have compensated that though. He's been quite a lucky fella up to now to be honest so if all that were to continue it's about time he stepped up to the plate next season.
  6. Who would get into bed besides Venkys though and who would they allow ? Nobody except close pals of theirs i'd imagine. Who puts the money in for these investment type signings though would be of interest to me . As for wages i think they more or less guarantee to cover the playing side but club staff in Blackburn might come out of different takings. Not sure it's all one big pot but may be wrong.
  7. He went out on loan but then spent a season or 2 sat on our bench. Couple that with a downgrade in coaching and keepers he wasw working with it could be argued he stagnated a bit. Certainly didn't continue to evolve, valuable learning time on the job wasted there.
  8. There's still external debt in the form of overdraft that will be heading towards its limit no doubt. I'm pretty sure that's be pinned on the club and its assets so that's the thing to watch. Probably around 15 million and it'll have interest and charges so that for me is what those in Ewood will want to keep under control. The owners pay enough in to cover wages etc but not sure they'd want to wipe that off or a large lump of it. Doesn't seem to work like that with them. As for Pr Mani well like a few others he conveniently chooses to omit the last time something like this happened. For whatever reason Vs turned the taps off at the wrong time, or down to a trickle at least. The club had to borrow left right and center to keep going then the sales began. Of course by then we ended up under embargo so it couldn't be reinvested so for a spell we signing utter dross off the usual client lists. Still wracked up a million or more in agents fees though, they didn't go hungry. No cash buys for several years until Williams for a few hundred grand. As we know all that led to relegation. These circumstances are odd now though we've gone from looking in a reasonably healthy position compared to any other time under their ownership. To possibly a very precarious one but the club has plenty assets now, just a question of when not if the auction starts.
  9. Think it's obvious the whole plan set down with the audits etc then some big lumps of money coming in only directed at young British u24 forwards. Grow a side to sell and invest a bit up top to hopefully get big premium prices down the line, relegation reset the clock for all that in a way. You'd hope this time the idea was to sell one regularly to keep the ball rolling and try and keep the rest to keep building a good side. However you never know with this lot and covid could be the blame this time. Last time it was FFP ( and the falling share prices of VH ). So it could well be a fire sale again over the next 18 months like last time rather than the conveyor belt. I'm sure those in the middle with something to gain will be breathing in ears again, not a lot Mowbray can do about that to be fair. Unless they are all interlinked of course. Still the search for willing buyers and good prices might just be the saving grace this time as it won't be so easy i wouldn't have thought. Promotion/top 6 is and always has been just a tag line, something they just hope will happen one day when the gods smile on us.
  10. Maybe they are going to let everyone in for free. The Venky revolution !! Oh sorry the boss here says it has to be evolution.
  11. Corporate idiots only employ other corporate idiots it's always been the case. No wonder this slippery snake ended up at Ewood. Wonder what he'll talk his way into next ?
  12. Yep their middlemen won't bother too much player values will be up again.
  13. So the moneyball player trading system comes up short. The get in quality, play it in the right areas and build your side around it doesn't.
  14. He should have been aware Walton did as well.
  15. Agents on holiday during a transfer window ? Really ? !
  16. Future years back to normality might see riverside shut, 7k regulars in two sections of the ground paying as much as can be squeezed out of them. Waggot still on 300 grand a year 'doing all he can' .
  17. I think that's because it probably comes from the football budget set and supplied by the owners. Plenty will milk that for all it's worth. The rest i.e STs etc are allegedly for stuff outside of the playing side like the ground and staff so there's probably bugger all left in that.
  18. Mentality - Good point. That starts right at the top and i think the lack of urgency reflects right through to manager and team. They all know that say the right things first and foremost and just do enough to be ok over the season is almost guaranteed to be met with 'As you were' in Pune. The less hassle for everybody the better. Nobody wants unwarranted pressure or crazy expectations but a good shake up and kick up the arse regularly is how things get done and targets get met.
  19. The midfield and it's options are a country mile better than anything containing Lowe & Guthrie. Also a lot better than Willowe or Lowe & Evans, Bowyers achilies heel. It's the turning possession into positive possession or dominant possession i'm struggling to see on match days. Only seems to work against certain teams. Moving it quickly and aggressively back to front without the hoof is something that still needs a lot of work. For that imo we still some some pace and delivery not strikers out wide, also it has to be built from a solid back 4 and keeper. If we really are to transition into something like that the recruitment needs to be better than its been since the promotion season.
  20. All about the timing of the runs as well as transfer windows with this midtable team and set up. We have good runs and bad as we've seen inconsistency rules. So, handily placed and a good run can mean a play off challenge as could have happened recently. A real bad un at the back end of the season if we aren't upper mid could easily see us drop right in it there's times we can't buy a win. Solid signings needed and prayers that the bad streaks come early and mid like usual.
  21. Now that would make complete sense and highlights the way the do things. The way i said the other week complete scattergun arse about tit. Going into a window needing a keeper and defenders then hearing somebody else in a different position you know and like is available & doable. So altering everything to accommodate that instead which is exactly what i heard about the Bauer thing and you can probably lump Gallagher into that system as well. No real logic to it at all just grab what you can whilst you can it's not hard to see why set ups like Preston out perform us every season.
  22. Mahonney when he was here, Hart another bit of an odd signing at the time and now the Wharton situation. All 3 with the same agent, perhaps he's hard work but it seems like he's another doing alright out of Rovers. Add in Mowbrays remarks about Wharton about 2 years ago that he's repeated recently, upper body strength. When he makes those kind of remarks it's usually looking for excuses.
  23. To me it just sounds like him touching base with a player he knows and fancies having. Then basically just saying look if you don't get sorted and we have any funds near the end of the window we'll try and do something. Doubt there's anything more to it than that meanwhile it's now out there so other interested parties can act and TM gets a thank you card for getting the ball rolling !
  24. He's ex Boro though isn't he ? Blind eyes might get turned ?
  25. I get that but it doesn't make the player feel that wanted either. It's a non starter now if imo.
