  1. Every time i see a certain Preston fan i know he always comes out with the same thing..." 7 million on a teenage bench warmer " then shakes his head. Annoying as it is it's impossible to disagree.
  2. Exactly and i think it showed a bit first half with Holtby but when you have a guy setting the team out who often seems terrified of having more than one flair player at a time starting it gets a bit easy to negate.
  3. They looked like a made up company anyway.
  4. That's the thing though stop Dack and you stop Blackburn is the theme when you read other forums before teams play us. Took them a while on Saturday but once they realised and got to grips with it that's us done. Then we get game saving subs and alterations from the dugout rather than game changers.
  5. Hopefully their increased brand presence on the ground prompts them to get on the blower a bit more often and demand some return on the pitch for their annual funding.
  6. Brum 3 Rovers 2 I see this possibly being a bit topsy turvy like Leeds away last season. The team, set up the approach to games and mentality, possibly even fitness just aren't tuned into seeing games out, defending leads or turning games around. We'd need to be 4 up with twenty mins to go to guarantee a 4-2 or 4-3 final score.
  7. Mostly agree except no way should managers be given a free pass just because of the ownership you have to look at Mowbrays recent past at a few other clubs there is a clear pattern and clear frailties in certain areas of HIS recruitment etc. I do reckon that other things have come into play regarding sticking what is huge money for us into Brereton and Gallagher but unlike others i also reckon had TM flagged up a defender for a couple of million quid he'd have got the backing. I think he has enough credit in the bank and sway over them for that as long as he could offer a case of being able to sell again at profit at some point. If sticks are being pushed into the spokes of defensive recruitment then it is coming from advice or influence elsewhere imo. Or of course it is down to the manager himself and his make do and mend philosophy whilst directing the bulk of his budget into another area for the second summer on the trot. It is his head on the block.
  8. Wouldn't take much notice of the Telerag comments section tbh it was the same even during Coyles reign of horror it is where the clubs/managments PR people lurk full time. As well as dingles with nowt better to amuse themselves. When we lose a few it soon swings the other way.
  9. After watching that game i thought Wigan looked more solid and organised than we have at any point recently. It was quite an even game to be fair and i think if Forest had Graham up front he'd have snaffled one of those chances and likewise if Wigan had a Dack or someone with a bit of flair they'd have won by a few more. Such a tight competitive division that is almost completely devoid of any real flair or quality which is why it is so frustrating and disappointing we don't seem to make the most of what we have. We have a lot compared to quite a few now at this level yet half of them are on course to out perform us again this season on the evidence so far. Only October though and things can change quickly but it is hard to see where a winning run is going to come from.
  10. Frustration is building even some of those on twitter and FB who usually jump straight on any form of questioning the gaffer are now asking what the hell is he playing at. Like iv'e said before this fella could confuse Einstein with some of the piddling about he does weekly with the team and subs so it's no wonder we often look so disjointed. Yesterday was a great example of what's really wrong here, he came up with something a bit different with the team and it looked like a good idea. Some good stuff played for a period but as soon as the other side get to grips with it or suss it out we are straight back in our shells and of course we ship poor goals again. 30 odd different plan A's but no real plan B so it nearly always ends up resembling the same thing. On another note why does Mulgrew look so comfortable and committed in the Wigan back line than he ended up being here ?
  11. Then you'll know each case is different as people are built differently in terms of muscle structure and size in quads etc. Anyhow in a pro footballer it needs sorting as soon as it's done otherwise an unstable knee will cause all sorts of other problems. I had a partial tear but being young they told me it should heal well enough in time if i had physo and built up muscle to compensate. Load of old cobblers it went again then the cartilage split as a result. Took 4 years 4 opps hundreds of hours physio hundreds of miles on the bike and thousands in fees and lost wages. All because they assumed it was ok to hobble about on so yes any injury can get worse if it isn't initially completely torn in half. If that was the case he would've been stretchered straight off i would have thought.
  12. Have you had one ? I have and yes it can as if it was a bad tear he wouldn't have been able to stand up the fact he could hobble around a bit means it probably wasn't, at first. You get the idea ?
  13. It needs a high profile decent pedigree named manager to come in after Mowbray and build on the good work he has done. Not an internal promotion, guy from the scrapheap or cheap lower league punt. We've had all that and the only thing that has really worked under Venkys is someone with real experience ... Mowbray. Now it is time for the next step and some real pedigree in the form of a guy who can come in and concentrate on the first team and first team only and its budget. Not building football clubs or fighting fires behind the scenes just a bona fide first team manager with the single aim of getting this club vying for promotion. Anything else is just rinse and repeat.
  14. Yep on the face of it one of the best defenders is injured but he's a left back brought in on loan because the two we had aren't good enough. One has been fortunate enough to have a manager say ok son when he decides he's now a centre half instead because he's struggled at left back. Then we have a young lad on loan from a top Prem club replacing the experienced Mulgrew who's been shunted out on loan because his bolt has been shot, at this club. Over the other side we have the young right back who's been left out because the manager prefers his pal, a midfielder, there instead. I'll ask again, what injury crisis is this exactly ?
  15. That list says to me 'new voice' rather than ambition. That's a whole different criteria but one that billionaire owners should have no qualms addressing if they want the club to be anything other than a quiet loss leading corner of their portfolio.
  16. Injury crisis or exposure of poor recruitment ?
  17. 12 th place is doable... Then a trip to India, hampers, a few internal promotions, a few more ipads, 5 million on another' investment presented signing, possibly even some contract extensions. A bit of blaming the fans, brexit, economic uncertainty for the poor crowds and the promise of progress to 11 th next season. Happy days for a club like us, what else should be expect really .... ?
  18. She wouldn't look that good at 50 if she was a manager ?
  19. There are 95 year olds with bigger cajones
  20. I think the fitness of the team comes into question yet again and after a two week break that's not good enough by a long chalk. It's also fair to assume that had the graft been put in the last few weeks that shouldn't be the case.
  21. I find it grossly ironic when the manager talks of needing consistency from his team when his selection and formations on a weekly basis are anything but regardless of injuries. It is a rather unbalanced squad to start with but much of what he does makes it worse then he scratches his head wondering why it doesn't work. No such thing as a first 11 at Ewood now it's a first 5 then anything goes.
  22. Decent game and result all told but on further inspection the usual mumbo jumbo and lack of bottle or nous from the manager and players who just aren't capable of anything more than 15 good mins per game. Logical choice at LB given the circumstances would've been Downing and you could see why as Bennett although unfortunate with the pen looked like he was going to get roasted all afternoon. Not his fault of course and he stuck to it well but on the other side Nyambe proved why Mowbrays silly petty favouritism doesn't help his cause. No surprise to me Dack and Holtby linked up well this is when tends to happen when you actually start with your better more intelligent players. Johnsons a good player but looks shot after 20 mins every game so you can see why he's ended up here. If he wants an Indian summer here - no pun intended- he should quit the ale and get himself fit.
  23. Why did they expect to sell so many more this season than last ? Why won't they acknowledge they goofed by putting prices up last season and not trying to tap into the promotion 'bounce' but instead more or less nipping it in the bud ? Also what about the stuff on the park and supporters long running concerns about the defence, boring style at home, terrible first 45s nearly every game for years ? Cloud cuckoo land some of that lot they still seem to be trading on Agnews words ' a bit of success and they'll flock back' !
  24. Dack looks a bit like Jon Snow it's a pity he can't carry Rovers like the King of the North carried his flock ! Lets be honest it's what we all rely on after all.
