Think we might get thumped today from a couple of set piece goals that defence scares the bejesus out of me ! -
Until he'd finally relegated us then a lot of them were probably howling Kean out/Venkys out at that Wigan game......
-
I remember Ardiles as a kid and I think yes he can definitely be plonked in the world class category although I don't think he'd much left when he pitched up at Rovers other than his name. Gomes had a decent rep but Hakan Sukur I think was another genuine class talent. Fowler/Cole/Yorke !!!!! Pftt lol great domestic guys but never worldies whilst they had holes in their rears ?
-
It's good he wants to impress the watching Southampton people as that means he'll turn it in for Rovers and securing a contact here wouldn't be a bad fall back option for him i'm sure he knows that. Proper player this lad with a good attitude these are the type of loans we want.

Everybody knows it's the Chris Taylor derby.... 1-1 -
5) Dino Baggio ... ?
-
Deffo don't want Clint back if we get another keeper lets get a proper one I don't think we've signed a solid established keeper since Robinson 10 years ago. The lad we have as Raya's back up seems fine for now so maybe a good upcoming prospect who's a decent height could be sourced. Not a 19 year old one for millions of pounds though !

Somebody check on the welfare of Biz his pet unicorn keeps stepping on the emoji button.
-
He soon chucked Lenihen straight back in after Downing had done equally as well in his absence.
-
Just handed nice new contracts out though so that's the pecking order he's created, his favs first and the rest second. Come on Tony lad develop that ruthless streak !
-
I like the type of player Hanley is if not actually the Heed himself but there was quite a few who looked as if they were taking advantage of the relaxed regime around then. He could be ok when he was switched on and not hungover although always a liability because he thought he was cock of the walk and did his own thing on the pitch. Smooth off those rough edges and there's a decent top half championship muck and bullets defender there. Wouldn't really want him or any from then back really.

Our loss is twitters gain as they say !

Mark the bad Homburg broken English speaking German Rovers fan who let his guard slip by speaking perfect English when he got irate ? Homburg or Haslingden ? I think he was confused.
-
I seriously hope it isn't Downing I think i'd have him in over Lenihen to be honest but even so he's proved a shrewd back up signing by TM and has never let us down. Not healthy though when back ups are seen as just that and have no chance of dislodging the favs no matter how well they might perform. Also there'd better be another centre half coming in as that leaves us light i'm no fan of Williams or Rodwell in there unless desperate.

Berg was a class act they didn't call him ice for nothing he had the right attitude and was a success first time around I think when you've gone to Man Yoo and won trophies it's a bit different than being a second tier journeyman. Don't know about the first or last ones but Santa Cruz was a flop when he returned...on 90k per week. To be fair Marshall was ok at Wolves I think and just became victim of a spending spree but i'd still give him a swerve unless they were going to make him into a permanent right back. He looked like he had all the tools for that and would certainly suit TMs wing back fantasies but again does he have the right attitude for the discipline of defending ? Not sure..
-
Marshall had a decent engine on him and if you could put Elliot Bennetts attitude into Ben Marshall he'd be some player, sadly you cant.
-
Never go back move on ! I quite liked Marshall he was certainly versatile and could do ok RW/LW/RB but was rubbish in the role Bowyer said he was best suited for..no 10. Trouble with Ben was apart from his off field life seemingly being his priority on the pitch his heads went down far far too easily that's probably why out of GB good signings he never turned into a really profitable one when it looked as though he could. Leopards never change their spots he's a journeyman now leave him to it.

It's the football version of tipping point, keep shoving enough in the slots and eventually a worthwhile one will drop into your lap. I suppose a few clubs operate that way and it doesn't do any harm having contacts with the big clubs with them being happy to send some your way but my main issue is how many of those we've had have had a fair crack of the whip in their proper positions ? Also how many might have blocked some of our own youngsters from the first team squad !
-
No dislodging DG but if he's out what is plan B ? Bit of a poem for you there ?
-
Might be an ok addition if we already had a couple of first choice goal scoring strikers. Sorry but to me this just smacks of having very little to play with and again fluffing out the squad with a player who's club will happily lend him in return for some game time whilst continuing to pay the bulk of his wages. I think we can rule signing any first choice players for the foreseeable future the big money is already tied up until there's a big departure.
-
It's a right racket and no doubt it's all fanned by the middlemen making their percentages. Part of football these days is just one giant cattle market, maybe Rovers should get in on the act. Wonder if a league one clubs fancies loaning Brereton for half a million till the end of the season ?
-
He keeps borrowing these types then never uses them properly to see what they have got it's a case of i'll chuck you on somewhere to see what you can do then when you flop you'll be frozen out or sent back. Can only really assume it's because these big clubs lend them very cheaply initially and it's a nice way to fluff up the squad without committing to much and the bonus is every now and they you might get lucky with one who contributes something. Be nice if a bit of that strategic planning we are hoping for went into these loan punts, horses for courses sort of thing.

There was an exiled Geordie supporters club based there back in the day and my mate next door when I was growing up latched on to them being a barcode because of his families roots. A lot don't go up there now they congregate in a pub when there's a big game on but most attend whenever they are anywhere down here and will likely pay on the day if possible. Like I said some are exiled or have some connection up there but there seems to be a few younger ones from the local area so you'd have to ask them. Black and white shirts were always quite well represented on the 5 a side pitches we used to play in Clayton le Woods late 90's, must've been Keegan's TV rant that hooked em !

Powder will be kept dry till summer AKA all the powder has already been detonated on ......... We need many many Indian people eating their bodyweight every week in chicken to get some more money by summer !
-
They'll sell way more than 1.5k I reckon seeing as they've a lot of exiled Geordie nation down this way as well as quite a few bandwagoners from the Keegan era. I know about 20 Newcastle fans in the Chorley area so I think a lot will pitch up on the day so probably be in the 3k+ range.
